Article review

Hi Onel5969: Please take a look at the resubmission for this article. Past submissions had numerous independent external reviews, but the remaining defect was that there was no report in the mass media about this project. This has now been remedied. Notice that the last section at the very bottom was edited: instead of "Commentary and Controversy" it's now "In the News". Most of the entries were deleted and a new one added: interview with Matt Hansen in The Week, June 2015. Here is the link to the article: http://theweek.com/articles/563549/future-americas-endangeredlanguages

RfC of interest

Hello! This is to let you know that there is a current Request for Comment on a topic which you previously commented on. The RfC is at Talk:List of European cities by population. The question is, "In articles which rank European cities or countries in order by population or area, should the entire city or country be counted, or only the portion which is in Europe?" Your input there would be appreciated. MelanieN (talk) 15:34, 1 July 2015 (UTC)

I this was kind of funny [1], when you reverted the material back IN, after you and talked about leaving it out last November on the talk page. Again, it really is contentious, no one has argued to keep it, so it needs to be left out unless a consensus comes in and argues otherwise. I did break off a new article, List of people from Greensboro, North Carolina because that section was looking kind of, sad and braggish like a lot of mid sized town articles. You might want to watchlist the new article. It still lacks sources, of course, but at least the main article looks better. Dennis Brown - 00:29, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

That is funny, Dennis Brown, in a sad pathetic sort of way on my part. I had forgotten about that discussion last November, and I guess I had the same impulse this time regarding reverting cited material. I watch about 250 city articles, and sometimes its difficult to remember what was discussed when. Thanks for pointing it out, and I will put your new list article on my watchlist. It's funny, creating that was on my list of things to do as well. So much to do, so little time. Right now I'm working on Timeline of Arizona, and after that, I'll flesh out the History of Arizona page. Then on to more housekeeping tasks. Take care. Onel5969 TT me 00:39, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
Ironic that is your interest as well as mine. I lived in Phoenix in the 1980s, and live near Greensboro now. Dennis Brown - 00:44, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

I have problems

Hello Onel5969

I see that you changed my changes on Cara Delevingne's wiki page. But the things I said on there was true. Cara Delevingne was actually born in 1892 and is 122 years old. She was a spawn of Satan. Because Satan is her parent she has demonic powers. Her grandfather was a Jew but really liked the Nazis and started to worship Satan. Satan asked her grandfather for a child to rule the world so her grandfather sacrificed his 22 year old daughter Johanna Hiedler/Pandora Delevingne for Satan to mate with. Once he mated with her he revived her and erased her memories up to her death. With Cara's demonic powers she time travailed to 1888 and had sex with Alois Hitler and gave birth to Adolf Hitler. She married Alois Hitler and went by the name of Klara Hitler for about 47 years. Because she was the daughter of Satan she hated Jews because they were God's chosen people. And because Hitler was Cara's (or Klara's, notice how similar their names are?) son he was demonic and hated Jews too. Hitler had a gift with words given by Cara and Satan. People want you to think she won the "Model of the Year’" award but really it was the "Mom of the Year" award gifted to her in Germany because she was the mother of Hitler. Between December 21, 1907 and 12 August 1992 she roamed the earth, invisible, stirring up people to murder and steal. In 12 August 1992 She reformed herself into Cara. Her last name Delevingne, if you switch up the letters, is Devilnegen. Obviously the first part is "Devil" which is another name for Satan. The "Negen" is is Old Dutch for nine. We do not know what nine might mean, but it's probably important. You might ask, "What about Charles Hamar Delevingne?" he is the reincarnation on Benito Mussolini. Satan saw that Cara didn't have a father for the public to see, so he reincarnated Benito Mussolini into Charles Hamar Delevingne. Charles Hamar Delevingne is laying low but soon should rise with Cara. Thank you for reading this and I hope you will realize the truth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Houresbob (talkcontribs) 09:17, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

your deleting my work on the "welfare state"

I confess I am fairly new at this, and that my explain why I cannot find any explanation for why you deleted my work--twice. Your page suggests you try to be kind and nice to people, and I certainly try to as well. But I cannot see any reason for your action. I hope and trust you are not just deleting text that you do not find politically agreeable. What exactly is wrong with my text? I would like to resolve your problem in a friendly way. Please explain. What is the problem?

thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Academie21st (talkcontribs) 19:38, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi Academie21st - Thanks for talking about this. I posted on the talk page of the article (and noted that (I think) in the edit summary). That's where you can take discussions of a particular article. If you want to alert another editor that you're talking about something they are involved with you can always use the {{ul|Academie21st}} tag (where you insert the user name of the editor you wish to alert - which I probably should have done when I posted on the article's talk page, but I thought my comment in the edit summary would suffice).
But taking it to the talk page of the editor is also totally acceptable. Here's my issue with your edit: it creates a non-neutral viewpoint to the article. Take a look at WP:NPOV. Since there are opposing views to the academic you included, to maintain the neutrality of the article, if you insert your referenced material, other referenced material showing the other viewpoint should be included. This is especially critical in articles which are potentially politically charged, like this one. I hope this makes sense.
If your edit had been the opposing viewpoint I would have reverted it as well, for the same reason. I hope this makes sense. And don't hesitate to ask questions, that's one of the best ways to get to know stuff. Happy editing. Onel5969 TT me 19:49, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi Onel5969, I just wanted to let you know that I just moved your talk page Archive 9 from the mainspace to your user talk space. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Have a good day, MJ94 (talk) 02:43, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Americans for Prosperity

"V" has decided to convert the article to his (non-mainstream) POV, and I may not restore neutrality. Your move. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 10:30, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi Arthur Rubin - When I made my edits, I was very careful to follow the consensus on the talk page. I did not remove all negativity towards the organization, as is claimed by some, but did remove the heavy bias regarding funding, legal trivia and the Koch brothers, which was discussed on the talk page and a consensus was reached. Two admins have intervened, one to put the DS tag on the article, which I believe correct, and another to put a 1RR restriction on the article, which I also believe to be the prudent move. Viriditas has, in his edit, made multiple reversions on the article, in violation o the 1RR rule, as well as not respecting the ongoing discussion on the talk page. In that regard, he's following HughD's prior moves. Hopefully an admin will step in, but I wouldn't bet on it. It's not worth my time for me to remain that involved in this article. HughD has engaged in WP:FORUMSHOP and WP:CANVASS (campaigning), which appears to be working, since folks from other forums who share his views are now becoming involved. If that is the type of editor that wiki wants, and condones his behavior, then it is no wonder that Wikipedia has such a poor reputation, particularly regarding political articles. And its probably why I don't spend much time on them. I don't have a whole lot of interest in the article, I simply felt that if the article was edited back to a place of neutrality, the community could take care of it. Obviously I was wrong. It looks like another article will have a strong non-neutral POV. Onel5969 TT me 13:27, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Personal attacks

I don't see any from SchroCat on the Grande article. Are you merely saying this in order to provoke a reaction? CassiantoTalk 18:27, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi Cassianto - nope. Deleted the earlier attack here on my talk page, and calling people who disagree with him lacking "common sense" is a personal attack, as is final comment in that same post. As is his now follow-up uncivil comment. Onel5969 TT me 19:19, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Referring to him as "Schro-something or other" in an edit summary is just good humour then I suppose? Honestly, you and your friend Chasewc91 really need to look up the meaning of "incivility" in the OED. CassiantoTalk 19:37, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Again, nope, knew his user name began with Schro, and couldn't remember the entire name when I wrote my edit summary. Plain and simple. Not sure why you bring another editor into this somewhat antagonistic post on my talk page, particularly since I don't really know Chasewc that well, I actually think I've had more interaction with you, than with him. And in regards to incivility, might I suggest you look at WP:UNCIVIL? And any further non-constructive edits on my talk page will simply be deleted. Take it easy. Onel5969 TT me 19:43, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
(talk page stalker)I think a better question is: Why are you spoiling for a fight, Cassianto? Frankly, your presence on this talk page seems to be for the sole purpose of harassment. Do you think that's wise so soon after getting an early-release for a block enforced because of incivility/harassment? -- WV 20:03, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
Who's spoiling for a fight? I merely asked why he thought such lilly-liveried comments were uncivil? If you want to know what uncivil is, check my block-log, apparently. I'm not engaging further, so you can all talk amongst yourselves. In the meantime, the Grande pantomime has been archived and you'd be wise to walk away from the dead carcass. CassiantoTalk 20:14, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
"Who's spoiling for a fight?". You are. That much is obvious. And your backpedaling is noted, as is your quick retreat. Wise of you to do so (retreat). -- WV 20:24, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi,

Thanks for taking the time to look over the article. I have a few questions about how to improve it. I’ve tried to comply with the Golden Rule (“significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the topic”) by citing relevant published sources. How else can I establish notability? Are there any issues with the sources I’m currently citing? By citing published resources, including an academic review of notable transcription tools, I believed I was following Wikipedia's citation guidelines.

Before creating the article, I looked at some similar language software entries like MacSpeech Scribe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacSpeech_Scribe), VoxSigma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VoxSigma), and Transana (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transana). I’d like to document InqScribe alongside these similar language tools.

Hi. I'm not involved with the AfC process any longer, so you might ask your question at WP:TEAHOUSE. Somewhere there will most likely get back to you in a relatively short timeframe. I did take a quick look at the article. Half the cites come from a primary source (InqScribe), and 2 of the other three are from the same source. Digital Tools for Qualitative is an excellent source, actually both are. You might get it approved. Good luck. Onel5969 TT me 20:00, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

I have no idea who is doing this, but I am a public school teacher, and it is likely a disgruntled former student. I originally assumed those were mistakes, but now I see it may be otherwise. Either way, you need not include the name of the file you took it from and "cropped" in the file name. That bloats the title and confuses things... So sorry if you dislike the title change. Dustin (talk) 15:17, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi Dustin V. S. - always a pleasure to work with you. No, I couldn't care less about the file name. Anyway, thanks for being considerate. Cheers. Onel5969 TT me 23:05, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Temperance (virtue)

Hi, you have reverted my changes on the Temperate article. The sentence

In “Charmides,” one of Plato’s early dialogues, the one who possessed ‘sophrosune’ is defined in four ways: (1) one who has quietness, (2) one who has modesty, (3) one who does his own business, and (4) one who knows himself.

seems to indicate that Plato defines Temperate as one of these four ways. When we argues against them. For instance, against quietness

Then temperance is not quietness, nor is the temperate life quiet,-certainly not upon this view; for the life which is temperate is supposed to be the good. And of two things, one is true, either never, or very seldom, do the quiet actions in life appear to be better than the quick and energetic ones; or supposing that of the nobler actions, there are as many quiet, as quick and vehement: still, even if we grant this, temperance will not be acting quietly any more than acting quickly and energetically, either in walking or talking or in anything else; nor will the quiet life be more temperate than the unquiet, seeing that temperance is admitted by us to be a good and noble thing, and the quick have been shown to be as good as the quiet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Antilas (talkcontribs) 15:39, 18 July 2015 (UTC)

Closing AN/I discussions

Closing ANI discussions is mostly knowing which templates to use – {{archive top}} and {{archive bottom}} – and common sense (e.g. don't close a discussion before it's done, do a little investigating of the circumstances before crafting a closing 'result' statement, etc.). It's not too bad... Hope that helps! --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:07, 19 July 2015 (UTC)

The olive branch is usually a symbol of peace or victory and was historically worn by brides and virgins. This symbol, deriving from the customs of Ancient Greece, is strongest in Western culture. However, it has been found in every culture and religion to thrive in the Mediterranean basin.[1]

I was curious what could be changed to improve this Space Vector Wiki article. I tried to focus on the history and impact of the company as a whole, which there is plenty of! So the issue with the article as presented is citations? (Along with image formatting).

Could you specify which citations in particular are not up to snuff? I would be happy to try to find an improved source or delete the information in question if that is not possible.

Cheers,
