This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Iraq. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Iraq|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Iraq. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

No independent RS on the page for a long time. I'm not seeing why this is considered notable to meet the standards for inclusion. Draft: this needs reworking... We're not even given the date it happened until about half way down and it's missing information. Seems to be sourced to RS, but this reads like a half-translated article that someone gave up on. Oaktree b (talk) 20:30, 30 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Delete: The sources for the words 'October Betrayal' are the headline of an online news site and a youtube video with 8 views from 3 years ago. While many of the sources in the article seem to be RS, it is not clear what this is an article of and, therefore, what is being sourced or needs to be sourced. It is also unclear what would be being rewritten if this was redrafted. With that being said, charges of 'partisan' levelled at sources in the article are not useful in nominating an article for deletion. There is no point in draftifying an article on a non-notable topic, because no amount of editing will make it ready for mainspace. The issue isn’t the lack of headlines or detail. Delete only mentions I could find are in the references and this [1] (Syrian state media - not a WP:RS). All the references say "HPG claims" or "Kurdish forces announce" - none of the information is confirmed (one article just quotes the press statement, other paraphrases), it's all WP:PRIMARY and clearly the press statement cannot be reliable or considered to be from a WP:NPOV. Per WP:PRSOURCE "Press releases cannot be used to support claims of notability and should be used cautiously for other assertions" so it's a delete from me. By the way, you have currently opened 27 Afds regarding Turkey-related articles. It is an extremely (and in my view exceedingly) high number for one nominator, especially concerning one topic, and it happens to be very challenging for interested users to find sources and even !vote. I understand you take to Afds pages that are unsourced but, precisely, it takes a lot of time to find sources. At the very least, I am inviting you to kindly slow down your nominations; personally, I would even suggest that you stop further nominations until the present ones are closed.
