The course covers literature, the arts, and humanities from 1400 CE to the present; the main emphasis is on the Renaissance and Enlightenment period. This is an optional assignment, and students who complete it successfully will receive extra credit for the class. Students who participate will each adopt one under-annotated artist (often a woman or a non-Italian artist or both) from approximately 1400-1700 CE, and work on improving their article. To make the work a bit easier, students will work with a small group on their article. In the process, students will learn the basics of editing and contributing to Wikipedia, learn more about the nature of sources and historical information, and hone their reasoning and editing skills.
