From Ancient Greek κολλύριον (kollúrion), diminutive of Ancient Greek κολλύρα (kollúra) (roll or loaf of bread ). Cognate with Sicilian cuḍḍura. Unrelated to Northern Kurdish kilor (koulouri, simit).
