[edit]Through Old East Slavic [Term?] from Old Church Slavonic Тѵхѡнъ (Tüxonŭ), from Ancient Greek Τύχων (Túkhōn, “male name, originally an epithet of Hermes”) (whence also Latin Tycho), akin to τύχον (túkhon, “lucky”), from τύχη (túkhē, “fortune”) (whence Τῠ́χη (Túkhē, “Tyche, Fortuna, Lady Luck”)) and τυγχάνω (tunkhánō), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *dʰewgʰ-.
