[edit]Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘐𑘮𑘲𑘨 (gahīra), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀕𑀳𑀻𑀭 (gahīra), from Sanskrit गभीर (gabhīrá); + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-). Related to गंभीर (gambhīr).
