Usage
This is an exceedingly simple template to meet a simple use case: applying the IPA font styling to a given string.
{{IPAchar}}
was the previous means of doing so. However, that template was substantially refactored in 2017 to do string validation and raise errors and assign maintenance categories if the string contains any characters not included in the IPA specification. It later became apparent that there are various use cases where editors would like to apply the same IPA font settings, even for strings that include non-IPA (such as placeholder characters for reconstructed strings). This simple template is intended to fill that gap.
Only to be used for pronunciations.
Example
Wikicode:
* {{IPAfont|/ˈtaʀwVj/}}
Output:
- /ˈtaʀwVj/
