[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *krušā́ˀ, from Proto-Indo-European *krows-.[1] Balto-Slavic cognates include Latvian krusa (“hail”), Proto-Slavic *krъxà (“lump”). Indo-European cognates include Ancient Greek κρούω (kroúō, “to beat”).[1]
