[edit]From New Latin parallelopipedon, alteration of Ancient Greek παραλληλεπίπεδος (parallēlepípedos, “with parallel surfaces”), from παράλληλος (parállēlos, “parallel”) + ἐπίπεδος (epípedos, “plane”).
