[edit]Pronunciation
[edit]Etymology 1
[edit]From sex + number, referring to the numeral 69 in reference to the eponymous sex position sixty-nine (“a sex position wherein two people simultaneously give each other oral sex”).
Noun
[edit]- (chiefly Internet slang, often humorous) The number 69.
- 2016 June 9, Brian Feldman, “Why 69 Is the Internet's Coolest Number (Sex)”, in Intelligencer[2], New York Magazine:
- The sex number is, among a large subset of social-media users, an incredibly important number (as is the weed number, 420). When you see the sex number, which is 69, it is your duty to comment "nice."
- 2019 January 16, Stephen Witt, “Tekashi 69: The Rise and Fall of a Hip-Hop Supervillain”, in Rolling Stone[3]:
- His rap handle was Tekashi69. The "Tekashi" part was inspired by Japanese anime, of which Danny was a big fan. Six-nine was more mysterious — it was the sex number, obviously, but in its interlocking yin-yang digits, Danny had found something deeper that he never fully explained.
- 2022, G. M. Nair, The Mystery of the Murdered Guy, dS-dF, →ISBN, unnumbered page:
- Caller: Sure sure, but maybe just jot this down. Got a pen? My e-mail address is Stephzilla—all one word—69. Six. Nine. You know. Like the sex number?
