[edit]Borrowed from Russian царь (carʹ), from Old East Slavic цьсарь (cĭsarĭ), from цѣсарь (cěsarĭ), from Proto-Slavic *cěsařь, borrowed from a Germanic language, from Proto-Germanic *kaisaraz, borrowed from Latin Caesar. Doublet of keisari.
