The only fantasy aspect in this novel is the fact the female protagonist is a vampire.
Yuuri Watoh inherited the apothecary skill and the vampire attribute from her grandmother. The nickname "misfortune devouring witch" came from her forte in medicine that would deal great cases. Yuuri has been living solely alone since her mother detested her vampire, creating a strained relationship with her family. That's why she sometimes feel weird being threatened in different manner from her customer, Ernest, who sought her to solve a mysterious case.
I'm smitten that in the beginning Yuuri looks kuudere, that makes the romance kind of a pure kitty and the sly fox haha. If you love the apothecary diaries, you might want to read this too!
P.S: Glad I read others' comment, said that Xingka would represent China, Hinamoto represented Japanese, and lastly Hylant represented English. No wonder it brought the historical vibe....more

Like, Lothaire remained being red flag for like 96%. How could our Ellie fell in love and handle his toxic manner. We got a lot to see Ellie's charm and her skillful psychology deduction (owh owh, and her playful manner aa). Despite having red flag hero, Kresley empowers the heroine by shoving off facts that some things are unforgivable easily. This book is truly a roller coaster ride! (Chapter 51 hits home too hard!!)

Now he vowed under his new king to fight against Horde vampire. Propping up Nikolai, his debilitating older brother to find his mate. And getting involved in rehabilitation of his deranged younger brother Conrad. Notice that this story walks on between The Warlord Wants Forever and Dark needs at night's edge.
He took so much on his plate taking care of others. But in this installment, he has a chance to live on his own love life. Although, He resented to be bound in so-called fated mates. A ladies' man met untouchable ice queen (unless her cold is a facade of her failed love life).
The story focused on their miserable side and exploring 'other alternatives' which raised agonizing conflicts. Unlike Dark needs at night's edge with much more hopes inside. Sadly with such amazing world building, the action in this book is not as intense as previous books. I thought Dani would have secret power that would have fought (view spoiler)[the fraud king, in the true name of queendom (hide spoiler)]...more

Definitely a book you can't put down once you begin.
Compared to the previous books, it's light reading for starters or standalone. Less lore and action that won't overwhelm you.

"Was Conrad merely a lost soul to be pitied? or a man worthy of rescure" Conrad would be the first red-eyed vampire (Horde) we got the POV of. The madman had countless frustrations mounting. Unjust intrusive memories that nearly put him in the brink, much more seeing a woman ghost that's not far from his hallucinations.
there's one need that's stronger than the need to kill. Stronger enough to compete the bloodlust. The need to protect.
The character development is well-progressing. Neomi won my heart! Her delicate ghosty touch, silly quirk complement with telekinetic, and attractive design. The fragile and kindhearted Neomi can soothe the madman. It doesn't cover up the imperfect side of Conrad, but Neomi has a capacity for compassion when giving him moral reminder. Besides, Her hollowness resonated one similar to Conrad.
This got me quivering: "He spit a mouthful at Nikolai, hitting him in the face. Then he laughed, a rough, sinister sound, His red eyes brimmed with a hatred. So virulent, Neomi believed that only death would cure it"
"the mirrors had been modified to fit her current appearance. In other words, she’d broken them."
(view spoiler)[the moment Neomi hid the truth, Conrad cut his arm out of the chain, and Neomi transformation gave surge of chill. The suspense and anticipation ran through my spine! (hide spoiler)]
Poor things yet funny: Conrad deranged murmur could take a toll. He even repeated in different language! Poor Sebastian had to undergo it. Then when Everyone's thinking Conrad shows a sign of clear mind, he got denounced for loving the ghosty Neomi.
Another thing worth mentioned: We got Mariketa and Bowen on their spotlight here~ Mariketa sounds so bubbly! The way she called Bowen "hubby" and observe his quirk, kyaaa. Reading this feels like seeing their afterstory, Bowen is trully being her solid protector!...more

Reminds me the wordplay in warlord wants forever, "a heart for a heart". NOW THIS, We have the heart of Kaderin the Cold warmed, she's feeling surely. Sebastian had to undergo self-questioning for an exact opposite action from his ordinary human life. He turned from gentle and shy to rough. Any flicks of reminder would bring them back to their innate traits~
I'm fascinated by scholar MC, so it's fascinating to see how Sebastian geared his mind in anyways to care and protect Kaderin. No matter how impossible it is, that he's granted by Riora the godness of impossible to participate in Talisman's Hie. Sebastian and Kaderin fiercely fought other participants (sometimes each other too) in order to win the Thrane's key for timetravel.
(+) There are many interesting things. First off, with a lightning speed, Nix crafted a storytelling with papers (instead of verbalizing it). Kresley Cole deepened the feeling of vampire, amount of number had Sebastian mentioned the blooded process and bride made him thinking Kaderin as if they're wed. Indulging in the feeling of what ifs (e.g how it feels a wife leaving a heartwarming note and drink in the morning). Another thing, A witty funfact about gums, "Regin blow a gum named Sad Wiener Peppermint which was beyond foul. Kaderin herself secretly preferred Happy Squirrel Citrus" pff. (view spoiler)[I wanted to talk about their intercourse but I'm...too flushed pff. But I assured you there's a novelty compared to the previous book (hide spoiler)]
(-) I know Kresley Cole has distinct formula of instant lust, but Kaderin had it too fast. I wished Kaderin would digest her emotions first before jumping in.
I'M. HAVING. INTENSE SCREAMING. Kresley Coley granted the deepest desire It's highly suggested to read A hunger like no other before jumping to this.
I'M. HAVING. INTENSE SCREAMING. Kresley Coley granted the deepest desire we would have in this series. Submission and mind-control alike while having smothering intensity and confrontation bulged my eyes out. As always the book contains wordplaying, I'm infatuated by their argument. "Join me, Bride" She had an expression of disgust on her face, "you keep calling me that, but you don't have that right. I've given no consent, so I think the term you're looking for is slave
The story tells about Myst the coveted, as the name told she is renowned for her seduction skills (especially for assasination). Love happened in unexpected way. Worth who was about to torture Myst to divulge information about the lore, yet his heart beat for his bride. Memories-contained blood can be a drug and poison for Worth. The palpable memories added insecurity and self-doubt to him, thus inciting self-fulfilling prophecy... "A heart for a heart. She'd made his beat. Had he broken hers?"
The anticlimax panned out so well, (view spoiler)["Wroth, you're a vampire. Others might not agree, but I for one believe that you're meant to drink. to connect, to live". OMG! (hide spoiler)]
I think the race prejudice is too notorious, that some characters had to ask to their significant others, "If I weren't a vampire and we had no history, would you love me?". Then I found it sweet when Wroth asked Myst to pick clothes as if she's going away with her lover. Worth family have modern court rather than Lykaes. Besides, after reading this and A hunger like no other , I get more convinced Valkryies is the most odd and malicious race lol....more
