Authorship Note While most of the music is taken from Joseph Haydn's works, the famous Minuet is actually by Seyfried. See below for more information |

Title: Die Ochsenmenuett, Singspiel in 1. Definitely a handwritten draft manuscript, presumably in the hand of the composer (that is, this is what is suggested by all the crossouts...)

According to Grove Music, this is a "pasticcio arr. I. von Seyfried from Haydn’s works". However, the famous minuet from the pasticcio, which is often attributed to Haydn, is also by Seyfried. According to The Oxford Dictionary of Music, the Ox Minuet is a "Minuet attrib. J. Haydn but comp. by his pupil I. X. von Seyfried (1776 – 1841) who introduced it into his opera Das Ochsenmenuett (1823), compiled mainly from Haydn's works. Based on legend that Haydn wrote a minuet for a butcher who gave him an ox in return." That legend in itself has never been proven.
