	This language has been verified as eligible. The language is eligible for a project, which means that the subdomain can be created once there is an active community and a localized interface, as described in the language proposal policy. Settings
Project name	Wikipedia	"Wikipedia" in your language
Project namespace		usually the same as the project name
Project talk namespace		"Wikipedia talk" (the discussion namespace of the project namespace)
Enable uploads	yes	Default is "no". Preferably, files should be uploaded to Commons. If you want, you can enable local file uploading, either by any user ("yes") or by administrators only ("admin"). Notes: (1) This setting can be changed afterwards. The setting can only be "yes" or "admin" at approval if the test creates an Exemption Doctrine Policy (EDP) first. (2) Files on Commons can be used on all Wikis. (3) Uploading fair-use images is not allowed on Commons (more info). (4) Localisation to your language may be insufficient on Commons.
Optional settings
Project logo		This needs to be an SVG image (instructions for logo creation).
Default project timezone		"Continent/City", e.g. "Europe/Brussels" or "America/Mexico City" (see list of valid timezones)
Additional namespaces		For example, a Wikisource would need "Page", "Page talk", "Index", "Index talk", "Author", "Author talk".

Once settings are finalized, a committee member will submit a Phabricator task requesting creation of the wiki. (This will include everything automatically, except the additional namespaces/settings.) After the task is created, it should be linked to in a comment under "final decision" above.

Proposal

Alabama is a Native American language, spoken by the Alabama-Coushatta tribe of Texas. It is a Muskogean language, and is believed to have been related to the Muklasa and Tuskegee languages, which are no longer extant. Alabama is closely related to Koasati and distantly to Hitchiti, Chickasaw and Choctaw. Also known as Alibamu. Though there are only 100 monolingual natives, there are many schools teaching it. I can't give approxamate number, but it are least 2,000 learning people.

I am in favor because it can not only help to preserve the language, but it can also be usefull for people studying the language and people with only knowledge of Alabama and little knowledge of other linguamatica.

Though the number of natives might be a little at the low side, an interested user has already started some pages and has translated about one-fifth of the most used messages. I'm in favour of this project. Also, the page on Alabama on en.wiki is rather small. This project can give us a better view of the language. --OosWesThoesBes 05:13, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Arguments against

Nowadays, my experience concerning wikipedias in native northamerican languages is very bad: no active projects, no active community, no interest. Alabama language has only a few of potential speakers and, as the language is not teached, young people don't know it. I don't know if here people normally refute that one has said? I will, however. Where did you get the information of not teached? The language is taught at some schools and many parents still give the language to their children. I think Alabama Wikipedia will then be the first successful wikipedia of all wikipedias.

incubator:Special:PrefixIndex/Wp/akz doesn't look particulary inspiring. Also, currently there is only one user willing to contribute, which is not even remotely enough. 3-4 is the very minimum, and even it does not guarantee that the project will develop, as people leave sometimes. I hope we can have the incubator checked by an expert in this language before it is formally approved.
