Community Wishlist Survey 2020 needs translations

[edit]

Hello!

I'm contacting you because you've already translated some messages for the Community Wishlist Survey. We need more translations for the 2020 edition, to create a survey that would serve as many users as we know.

The list below shows our needs by order of importance (most important first):

  1. The invitation sent to communities. It summarizes the process. We plan to distribute it soon on this year target wikis. The more translations we have, the better!
  2. The form for non-English speakers. Anyone should be able to add their wish, no matter which language they speak. Translating this short form is very important to encourage diversity and equity.
  3. The survey itself, where the entire process is described.
  4. The preload form, that provides more context on existing wishes.

Some languages are already covered (maybe by you), but some messages have been updated, and there is always some room for reviewing and polishing messages.

Thank you in advance for your help! This survey can't be successful without your assistance. :)

Kun se ei lähde kaljalle

Säätiö aikanaan suhtautui vakavasti siihen ainoaan tuntemaani tapaukseen, jossa päällystön jäsenet kerran tekivät erään junamatkan toiseen kaupunkiin. En viittaa siihen enempää, koska tapaus lienee sinulle tuttu.

Stryn (talk) 11:01, 6 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Patxi Xabier Lezama Perier

[edit]

Hi Stryn, It seems that you have a problem and a personal obsession against this individual, that you delete everything he does and that you see is personal because the last thing you deleted is a Wikiquote link in Greek of this person and the administrator named Kostas20142 returned to put it, now you do it with the same quote in Spanish and your arguments are not consistent friend, when there has to be another administrator behind you, so you do not delete what this wikipedista does. You have a problem, make yourself look, go ahead and leave your "personal" obsession because apart from showing yourself, you denote psychosis. An appointment considered encyclopedic in five languages and approved by five different administrators and you put the label again. [[1]]. Don't you realize your problem?

Greetings and have a good day, although it seems to me that you never have a good day.--85.84.193.135 20:27, 25 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

The problem is you. You spam this person everywhere (are you the person in question?), I don't believe you understand all those languages where you post it, so you must use machine translation. Doing this cross-wiki is not acceptable. Also the person seems not to be notable, at least I can't find any reliable sources about this person. Stop cross-wiki abuse now. Stryn (talk) 07:06, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

The problem is you, the administrator Kostas20142 is Greek and his native language is Greek and he accepts and also revokes your cancellation, accepting the appointment, so your position is demonstrated that you have no idea of Greek and you argue automatic translation, which is a lie. You say that you cannot find any reliable source, of laughter, the person and the book where the quote comes from are in the German national library and you do not bother to look at it, the link I put before you, is in the Basque encyclopedia, in La real Language Academy, and a long etc ... before acting you should check the sources, you have them in Wikidata and use your head not the excessive ego that you have. It goes that every time you put yourself more in evidence with your acts and after the rage to tell you the truth, you block the IP. By your acts they will know you and the other administrators begin to know your modus operandi. Greetings and if you want to block the IP again, because you know that you are not right and that they take it away from you is something that makes you angry. Here the evidence:

14:54, 22 April 2020‎ Stryn talk contribs‎ 19,548 bytes -137‎ ‎Page on [elwikiquote] deleted: Πάτζι Ξάμπι Λεζάμα Πέρι undo
15:39, 25 April 2020‎ Kostas20142 talk contribs‎ 20,829 bytes +137‎ ‎Added link to [elwikiquote]: Πάτζι Ξάμπι Λεζάμα Πέρι undo

Regards.--85.84.193.132 14:20, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Your argument is: I don't think you understand all those languages where you post it, so should you use machine translation? That you will know your languages that I understand (you would still be surprised) many more than you. Furthermore, a competent administrator cannot be carried away by "I believe", because believing is an assumption and not a certainty. And if I put those quotes it is because I understand those languages. And if you opened the links to the book from the German National Library, you would see that on page 22 there is the quote from Wikiquote, in addition to the magazines of art magazines, etc ... You are not right and you know it. Regards.--85.84.193.132 14:30, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Haha, do you think I believe you understand Finnish language :D I found about your article an interesting discussion at w:en:User_talk:Akerbeltz#Patxi_Xabier_Lezama_Perier, so I'm not alone with thinking about is it notable. Soon the article will be gone from Finnish Wikipedia and more to follow if not shown the notability. Stop spamming or we might need to globally block all your IP addresses, and we don't want to do it. Stryn (talk) 14:48, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Baskische Mythologie is a self-published book (is it this one?), having a book in the German national library doesn't mean anything, it was even removed from the German Wikipedia article. Stryn (talk) 14:55, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Now you put the tag and you want to delete the author's page in Finnish, which is your country and your language, and you argue that it is not relevant. As I say you continue to show yourself and it is shown that you have something personal against the person or author. According to you, it is not relevant, is that your last argument? A character that comes on wikipedia in 45 different languages, endorsed and confirmed by all the administrators of those 45 countries, with all the respective authority controls and you argue that it is not relevant? As you can see in that conversation two administrators, in the end they decide if he is a notable and relevant person and they publish it together with 45 different administrators from 45 countries. You are the only one who continues to question their relevance and delete the pages, when all the other administrators give their approval and publish them. 45 administrators are not wrong. Are you the one who is wrong and you are not right? You have the proof under your nose. Regards.--85.84.193.132 15:51, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

You seem to be not well aware of notability criterias. You need to add reliable sources to all articles, and self-referencing should be avoided. The article should not be based primarily on sources of information about themselves. Also, w:Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest#Writing_about_yourself,_family,_friends. I have nothing against anyone, I'm just not allowing self-pushing / promotion to get attention for person. Where is based your claim "endorsed and confirmed by all the administrators"? If something is now in Wikipedia is not same as it's endorsed and confirmed by all the administrators. There are hundreds of non-notable articles in many wikis, but it doesn't mean they have been accepted there by administrators. Stryn (talk) 16:00, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Look, I don't feel like arguing with you anymore, for me as if you delete the whole wikipedia. I have life outside of here, which seems that you do not, what bothers me is your arrogant attitude. Feeling of superiority over others that causes distant or contemptuous treatment towards them. Goodbye and good luck.--85.84.193.132 16:07, 26 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Removal of my Otrs permissions

[edit]

This was a travesty. Krd was sending emails to me via an email account I changed years ago. The removal of my permissions was done improperly and they should be restored ASAP. Whoever monitors/updates email addresses at META is where the problem lies. Atsme📞📧 10:17, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I don't know how he tried to contact you. I only removed the permission as per request by an OTRS admin. If you want to complain you can contact them. Stryn (talk) 10:55, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
I did, and I question his position. He used the wrong email address, and now I'm having a problem getting my permissions restored, despite the fact they were wrongfully removed. I am pinging Sphilbrick who is aware of my participation to also look into this. Atsme📞📧 11:14, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
I think I was contacted because I was until recently an OTRS admin. I gave that up recently. It's my opinion that we should have done a better job of sending a warning. Removing someone from the list of agents because a warning was sent to the wrong email address sounds like an easily curable problem — reinstate, make sure the email address is updated, and restart the clock. That's my opinion, but not being an admin someone else will have to take the action if my suggestion makes sense.--Sphilbrick (talk) 17:06, 17 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Help wanted for global templates

[edit]

You have shown support for global templates in the past. Staff of the Wikimedia Foundation view this change as big. We need to convince the Wikimedia Foundation to start working on this. We have to reassure them there is sufficient support by local project communities.

You can help move this forward.

Please do setup a page on the local projects you are (most) active on in the language of the project. Tell your fellow editors why you believe global templates are necessary. Follow the local project decision process to come to a discussion outcome as support or not. There is plenty of time for discussion. Please reach a conclusion before the end of April 2021.

Please translate the coordinating page on meta to languages you are proficient in. Gathering_support_from_local_projects_for_global_templates

Please add a line to this meta page with a link to a discussion page on your local project(s).

The goal is to have the Wikimedia Foundation include a program to develop infrastructure for global templates in their 2021/2022 Annual Plan. The Wikimedia Foundation will decide on the Annual Plan in May/June this year.

The aim is to have several dozen local project communities to show support, and little concerns, issues or objections. Of course, any project can continue to use their local templates.

When you have questions about this initiative you can reach me at ad(_AT_)huikeshoven.org or + 31 6 40293574, and also on Telegram and Signal. You can also raise questions on the talk page on meta. Maybe some people would like to discuss this initiative in a meeting. Please let me know whether you would like to join a Zoom meeting in February.

Regards,

Ad Huikeshoven (talk) 15:41, 23 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users

[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

[edit]

Hi there! I am a kaawiki user, an admin named NurlanPirzhanov has blocked me for no reason, I ask you to remove me from the administration, when he was an admin, Kaawiki was filled with plagiarized articles without categories and sources, I contacted him via telegram messenger and asked why the plagiarized articles when I asked that it was not deleted, he said that he agreed with those who wrote the plagiarized articles. He also insulted me as a ``cow via Telegram messenger. (Рахман3 (talk) 11:25, 26 December 2022 (UTC))Reply

Your feedback is requested

[edit]

Hello Stryn, We are conducting a poll of global renamers and stewards regarding some future toolings related to some rename requests. Your feedback is requested at the poll on VRT WIKI. Best regards, — xaosflux Talk 00:18, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, dear Stryn! How are you? I would like to draw your attention to the request for comment that I made in July, 2023. As the situation has deteriorated since then towards the open vote fraud by the bureaucrat, a timely consensus on the part of stewards has become even more essential for the implemention of rules in Belarusian Classical Wikipedia. Best wishes,—W (talk) 11:11, 3 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Hello Stryn, Ferret (talk · contribs) blocked this IPv6 rangeblock 2001:4452:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 (talkcontribsinfoWHOISguc) for LTA concerns, also 2001:4451:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 (talkcontribsinfoWHOISguc) blocked for vandalism as well. Tilastopaja

[edit]

Hello, two weeks ago I asked to have access to Tilastopaja.

I am contributing in wikipedia-fr and my edits are primarily focused on athletics.

I will be happy to answer any question regarding this. Miruts (talk) 16:52, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, thanks for your message. Unfortunately at the moment there are not any accounts available. I marked Tilastopaja as waitlisted, so if there are more accounts available later I will let you know. Stryn (talk) 17:02, 19 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK, on https://wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org/partners/12/ it displays 8/20 so I thought there were accounts available. Anyway thank you for the answer! Miruts (talk) 07:43, 20 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh, right, it's incorrect because before we moved to the Wikipedia Library we used to give rights by on-wiki request, so it's not counted on those numbers. Of course, I could ask the library staff to move all those users to the library, or something like that, so it would show the correct number. Sorry for that. Hopefully we will get more accounts soon.
