Leposavić (Albanie: Leposaviq or Albaniku; Serbie: Лепосавић, pronounced [lɛ̌pɔsaʋitɕ]) is a toun an the northmaist municipality in the destrict o Kosovska Mitrovica o northren Kosovo. It is a pairt o North Kosovo, a region populatit wi at least 98% ethnic Serbs that functions lairgely autonomously frae the remainder o Kosovo, which is majority ethnic Albanie. Accordin tae OSCE an UNHCR estimates, the municipality haes a population o approximately 18,600 (2007).[1] The municipality consists o a toun an 72 veelages wi an aurie o 539 km².

Leposavić municipality includes 72 veelages wi a total o 18,600 inhabitants, accordin tae the UNHCR an OSCE estimates. Kosovo Serbs constitute the lairge majority (18,000), while sma nummers o ither commonties are present an aw. Approximately 200 Kosovo Albanies live in the three soothren veelages o Košutovo, Šaljska Bistrica, an Ceranje. There are 240 Kosovo Bosniaks, Romas, Ashkalis, an Egyptians an aw.

The unemployment rate is heich an aw, an it haes been considerably increased due tae the closin doun o maist o the Trepča conglomerate facilities. The municipality is rich in natural, infrastructur an management, but current circumstances blockit aw the potentials. The municipality adoptit the Development Agenda 2006 – 2009, in cooperation wi UNOPS an wi the support o UNMIK an the Italian Govrenment, which foresees impruivement in the local economy. Gien the current difficult situation, housomeivver, thare is no hintle hope the Agenda will be properly implementit. The municipality, led bi a vera proactive CEO, pays noteworthy efforts toward identifyin an initiatin projects ideas.[1]
