- KR won the 1948 Úrvalsdeild, the top-flight of Icelandic football.
- The Foreign Minister, Bjarni Benediktsson with new Minister Richard P. Butrick signed an agreement that would make Iceland a recipient of the Marshall Plan assistance.[1]
