Derk Telnekes (born 28 April 1995) is a Dutch darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events.

Career

[edit]

In 2017, Telnekes won the Belgium Open.[1] He qualified for the 2018 BDO World Darts Championship as one of the playoff qualifiers. He played Chris Landman in the preliminary round, winning 3–0. In the first round he lost to Geert De Vos 3–1.[2][3] At the 2019 BDO World Championship Telnekes lost to Mark McGeeney in the first round.[4]

In 2020 Telnekes won a PDC Tour Card for the first time at European Q–School. This earned him a two year card for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.[5] Telnekes gave up his job as a bathroom mirror maker to become a full–time professional on the PDC Pro Tour. He cited his experience in the BDO as a contributing factor to him getting through Q–School.[6]

On 14 March 2020, Telnekes made it to the quarter-finals of a PDC ranking event for the first time at Players Championship 7. He then reached a first semi-final the following day but lost to James Wade.[7]

Telnekes qualified for the 2021 PDC World Darts Championship, where he drew Nick Kenny in the first round.[8] Telnekes lost 3–2 having led 2–1 in sets.

In 2024 Telnekes played on the PDC Challenge Tour. He reached the semi-final at event 10 but lost to eventual winner Lee Cocks 5–3.[9] He also reached the semi-finals of event 20 with wins over Phil Milburn, Nick Hijmans, Tommy Morris, Ian Lever with a 5–0 whitewash, Adam Paxton and Thomas Banks before losing to former BDO World Champion Christian Kist 5–2.[10]
