I've been interested in Kirk since reading the short, compelling sketch in Kennan's memoirs, and have looked many times for more information about him. Thank you for this truly excellent contribution. It appears that his life after leaving the diplomatic corps is very obscure, even as to where he lived; perhaps a future wikipedia contributor will add something when known.
