Talk:Prioritizing defintions

[edit]

On what grounds is it stated that evangelical catholic primarily refers to Latin-rite Catholics? I have always seen the term as primarily associated with high-church Lutheranism, and only secondarily appropriated by Catholic commentators. 68.33.152.87 (talk) 17:49, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Personal ordinariate

[edit]

Apart from the Traditional Anglican Communion, the article should really consider verifying whether any related Evangelical Catholic groups have ever sought a similar canonical structure to the proposed personal ordinariates. ADM (talk) 18:08, 26 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

To the best of my knowledge, the Anglo-Lutheran Catholic Church (ALCC) is the only Evangelical Catholic Lutheran Church to apply for entry into the Roman Catholic Church. The full text of its petition is online at http://www.stmichaelsalcc.org/News.dsp toward the bottom of the page.

On the advice of its (Roman Catholic) Canon Lawyer, the ALCC's petition is intended to be quite separate from that of TAC, and instead of requesting a similar canonical structure to the Anglican Ordinariate, it asks for entry "as a unified body" in whichever form the Pope and the Curia feel to be the best. Elsewhere in the petition mention is made not of an ordinariate, but rather (on the advice of the ALCC's canon lawyer) of a priestly society (like the Fraternal Society of St. Peter or a structure like that of the SSPX should it return to the Catholic Church, which is the easiest for Rome to establish, require no new canons to be created, and will place the ALCC's priestly society under not only its own leadership, but also under that of the local Catholic dioceses and their bishop. Hope this helps. gladfelteri (talk) 09168:08, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is this a term used by Catholics?

[edit]

I added a citation needed template. If Catholics self-describe as Evangelical Catholics, could we have a source for that? patsw (talk) 22:19, 27 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Some do, such as Mike Pence. -- Willthacheerleader18 (talk) 05:22, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Evangelical Catholicism is a book title by papal biographer George Weigel. I would favor moving this article to that title.

Catholic Church naming conventions RfC

There is currently an RfC at Wikipedia_talk:Naming_conventions_(Catholic_Church)#RfC:_should_this_page_be_made_a_naming_convention that may be of interest. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 23:44, 3 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
