IZh and Izhmash are two articles about the same company, and they need to be merged, but I don't trust myself enough to try it.
It looks like it should be fairly simple though for someone with some experience, anyone up to the task?
- It is done. Thanks for pointing it out! --Oceanhahn 22:02, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
- Agree. Should be merged. Superzohar Talk 21:25, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I'd love to get more information on the automobiles section of this firm. I may actually do it myself sometime soon. -- Oceanhahn 22:18, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
IZH?
[edit]Is it really true that IzhMash is commonly referred to as IZH, IZh or Izh in the West? (at least I see such usage by tracking backlinks from these three letters). Mind you, "IZH" is not an abbreviation: it is either the name of the Izh River (Иж) or a part of the abbreviation for the plant IzhMash.
Anticommunists and other Westies, please clarify, because I started a disambig page at "Izh" and have to decide what to do with the two remaining 3cc's (At least IzH is unused and it looks like I cannot create iZH or iZh). `'mikka (t) 00:50, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
It's Izhmash, not Izhevsk Mechanical Works.
[edit]Izhmash (ОАО "Ижмаш") and Izhevsk Mechanical Works (ФГУП "Ижевский Механический завод") are two completely different legal entities, with their own histories. The former produces AKs, while the latter produces hunting shotguns and Makarov pistols. 217.114.151.228 19:43, 13 September 2006 (UTC)

Arsenal and machine works are two different things
[edit]The weapons produced at the Izhevsk Arsenal have been key to the defense of the of the Russian people for centuries. At least half of the firearms produced during the Soviet era were produced there. Moral judgments aside, the AK-47 has been key in shaping the world we live in. Much of its design, testing and production was done in Izhevsk. Most of the 1891 Mosin Nagant rifles used to overthrow the Ivanov imperial dynasty during the Bolshevik Revolution were produced there. It is difficult to understate the importance of the Izhevsk Arsenal's impact on the history of the nation. Therefore, the Izhevsk Arsenal is very much deserving of its own detailed entry, and should not be merged with some generic regional entry that may discuss anything from the production of tractor tires to cookware. I invite you to take a look at the Springfield Armory entry (Massachusetts) for an example of what the Izhevsk Arsenal entry should look like. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.68.94.163 (talk) 07:12, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Requested move

Izhevsk Mechanical Works → IZHMASH JSC — It is the name the company uses for itself. Relisted. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 15:52, 20 June 2010 (UTC) Faceless Enemy (talk) 04:01, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- Comment The name the company uses, and therefore the name we should be moving to, is Izhmash, as shown on the company's website. It is only capitalised on the logo, not in the text. The JSC presumably means joint stock company, and should be excluded per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (companies). Skinsmoke (talk) 03:27, 26 June 2010 (UTC)
- Izhmash does seem to be the most common way of referring to this company, without caps or JSC. Fences&Windows 13:33, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
