Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

I disagree with the assesment that the rebellion hampered the efforts of the construction. I believe that the rebellion showed the value of the railway which helped it get the funding it need to be completed

I moved the first paragraph into the lead section although it refers to some items (e.g. difficulties, rebellion) which are not clearly covered in the main article. Obviously this article still needs a bit of work, esp. tidying up the in-text referencing. Redwidgeon (talk) 02:04, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since there is also a (very succinct) general 'Last spike' article I have moved the New Zealand link there (it already had the USA link) and removed them here.
