Merge with Silence-Lotto
[edit]This article is only a stub and it would be better off merged with Silence-Lotto, which is the name for the same team a few years later. Other cycling team articles also merge former team names.--EdgeNavidad (talk) 07:26, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's a pretty obvious merge, especially as this would be a useful redirect if the Lotto team changes names again and again like it has the past three years (Davitamon, Predictor, Silence). Nosleep (talk) 21:25, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Article name
[edit]I think this page should have remained as Davitamon-Lotto and a new page started to cover the new team name from 2007 onwards. Team sponsor names change regularly in cycling and it might get difficult to find things in the future with multiple re-directs etc. What does everyone else think?? Iggi 02:57, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
- Alternatively, the article could be amended in a similar way to the Team CSC page. kju 00:33, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- It's the same team - why should there be a new article for every time a cycling team merely changes sponsor? Other sports do not create new articles every time a sponsor changes - why should cycling? Many cycling team articles need much expansion regarding the history of the team, and it should be reflected that a team name has changed. In this case, the sponsor hasn't even changed: merely Omega (I think) are deciding to promote a different brand. The cycling team infobox that I created a efw weeks back can accomodate name changes in an easy format (which can be viewed on the Quick Step-Innergetic page). Mk3severo 17:54, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
So when do we move this to Omega Pharma–Lotto?
[edit]Obviously, they're still Silence–Lotto right now. They'll race the Giro di Lombardia and whatever other races remain on their 2009 calendar under that name. But they've announced a name change effective for next season, so is it effective once this season is over, or when the Tour Down Under or whatever their first 2010 event happens to be begins? - I believe that seasons officially start (for the purposes of contracts etc) on 1st Jan, so if the announcement said that the chnge is effective from next year, that (or whatever else is the official start date) would be the date to change it. Kevin McE (talk) 06:20, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
