Instigated?

[edit]

English is not my first language, but isn't it pejorative?--wooddoo 18:51, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

They liked to call the Soviet Union an Upper Volta with Rockets ?

[edit]

Think a while. Racism and arrogance transported by this absurd claim do not only smell, but stink. Question: why had Oberleutnant Helmut Schmidt and his Wehrmacht comrades to work so hard and failed in the end as they tried to conquer an Upper Volta without Rockets ?? --Oenie (talk) 10:15, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It says "1958-1984", but was it not 1983 in which Thomas Sankara proclaimed Burkina Faso? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.4.228.5 (talk) 21:56, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Self governing colony

[edit]

In two places in this article, the self-governing colony article is linked, yet that article is entirely about the term in the sense of the British Empire and makes no mention of any other kingdom or empire, so France's self-governing colonies would not qualify. How should this be handled in the page? It does not seem right to link to that article when it is so explicitly about the British Empire which Upper Volta was not part of Omi745 (talk) 18:51, 6 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The Coat of Arms

[edit]

I have noticed the coat of arms was changed to a version of the coat of arms which is not sufficiently sourced to have been used from 1967-1984 (I am not able to verify this coat of arms ever existed at all). For example, sevens stamps from Upper Volta from 1961 through 1983 do not use this coat of arms. They all have the blue shield version. The Scott catalogue number for the 1980 stamp is 549 for reference. So the coat of arms should be changed to the version with the blue shield. Please see the discussion on the Coat of arms of Burkina Faso page as well. ElkandAcquerne (talk) 14:56, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Burkina Faso?

[edit]

This is a short article basically about Burkina Faso - the territory is contiguous. Why not just merge it into the history of that nation? Gymnophoria (talk) 14:48, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The thing is, I think this article is talking more about Upper Volta while it was Upper Volta, and isn't really connected with Burkina Faso. It would be better to leave this article here so that people at least know what Upper Volta refers to? InfiniteSword (talk) 03:32, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

the flag looks quite similar to German Empire

[edit]

so its flag is basically based off German Empire's flag RobertWikia9627 (talk) 15:37, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
