section "Production, distribution and collecting", first paragraph, near the end: "Other accounts say that the coin was sold from the tollbooths." That source is cite web, link is dead now but I can found backup at archive.org here. Problem is, I can't found any account relate to how they sell this coin, that page only have photoes and basic infomation for this issue with very short profile "(1936) San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge Opening
The opening of the San Francisco Bay Bridge was the occasion for a special souvenir fifty-cent piece. The designs were the work of Jacques Schnier, a San Francisco artist. A California grizzly bear dominates the obverse. The famous landmark bridge is shown on the reverse. The coins were struck at the San Francisco Mint in November 1936. The bear depicted was a composite of animals in local zoos."
