@Black Kite Dear admin,

I hope this communication finds you well. I wish to bring to your immediate attention a matter concerning a userbox template that has recently been created/edited (by-@Shaan Sengupta) on Wikipedia. My concern lies in its potential violation of Wikipedia's userbox content restrictions, as outlined in the Userbox Content Policy (WP:UBCR).

The userbox template in question states: "This user is a Sanatani Hindu and an ardent follower of Hinduism and Hindutva." While userboxes can be a valuable way for users to express their interests and affiliations, this particular userbox appears to promote a specific political ideology, which may not align with Wikipedia's principle of neutrality, civility, and non-advocacy.

As outlined in Wikipedia's userbox policy, userboxes should not be used for propaganda, advocacy, or promoting divisive content. Given that "Hindutva" is a political and religious ideology with a potential for controversy, I believe that the inclusion of this userbox may run afoul of these guidelines.

I kindly request that you consider reviewing the userbox in question and evaluating whether it complies with Wikipedia's content restrictions. If it is determined that the userbox violates Wikipedia's policies, I respectfully suggest that it be considered for deletion to ensure that Wikipedia continues to uphold its commitment to providing neutral and reliable information.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust in your dedication to maintaining the quality and integrity of Wikipedia's content.AMNR0011 (talk) 17:17, 22 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @AMNR0011, as you stated at User talk:Chennai Super Kings Lover#Regarding my template that Hindutva is divisive. I would request you to read about it. You will get to know that it rather talk about uniting the country. It advocates uniformity. It is not just a political ideology. If something is accepted by political parties it can't be termed as political ideology. For example Gandhism is used by political parties as their ideology but that doesn't mean that it is just a political ideology. Hope you get my point. So this doesn't fall under divisive content. Now I come to you concern. You say I am advocating. What are these templates doing? Template:User antitheist User:WebHamster/religion Aren't these divisive. Is this not considered a propaganda? These templates clearly deny the existence of god or of belief in religion. These are just a few examples. How can just telling my belief be divisive or promoting? These are hundreds of templates that tell their political ideology like Template:User Left-wing Template:User Communist Why noone raises a question on them? @Shaan Sengupta Thanks for your comment.
Topic- "Either Hindutva is a political Ideology Or not? ."
"It's a political ideology"
Support arguments- 1) Advocacy of Hindu Nationalism: Hindutva has been associated with the idea of Hindu nationalism, which can be viewed as a political stance seeking to prioritize the interests of Hindus within the context of the nation. This advocacy for a particular religious group's interests exhibits characteristics of a political ideology.
2) Mobilization and Activism: Supporters of Hindutva have engaged in political mobilization, activism, and demonstrations to advance their goals and beliefs. This level of organized activity aligns with the actions typically associated with political ideologies.
3) Political Agendas and Campaigns: Hindutva-related groups and organizations have often championed specific political agendas and campaigned for certain policy changes, such as issues related to religious practices, cultural preservation, and national identity. These activities reflect the hallmarks of a political ideology.
4) Influence on Politics: Hindutva has had a notable impact on Indian politics. Various political parties and groups that identify with Hindutva have formed, campaigned, and made policy decisions based on its principles. This political involvement is indicative of a political ideology's influence.
For more, you can read the Wikipedia article on Hindutva, which is written with well-cited information. News articles; 1) The Guardian-"What is Hindu nationalism and how does it relate to trouble in Leicester?
2) The wire-Why Hindutva Is a Racist Supremacism – Not Merely Communalism or Majoritarianism."
Thank you. AMNR0011 (talk) 04:12, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@User:Shaan Sengupta;"Hindutva" should not be added in this template as Hindutva and Hinduism are different, This template is like {{Template:User Muslim}}, and here it does not mentions about Islamism and also
This user is a Buddhist
does not mention about Secular Buddhism as templates which specify someone's religion should be added with ideologies.
As this Template may be used by new Hindu Wikipedians and they who doesn't believe in Hindutva will edit war in this template again. If you want to put Hindutva, I suggest you to create a new template like User:Hindu Nationalist✓ as the religious templates should not be personalized.
Thank You! Chennai Super Kings Lover (talk) 04:36, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I am agreeing on the point made by @Chennai Super Kings Lover. I shall just remove Hindutva from religious template. But I for sure don't agree on the comments made by @AMNR0011 on Hindutva. I would suggest people to read about it from good places and not just from filths present on social media. Chandranath Basu's was the original Hindutva. Which Savarkar took along with some changes. But even Savarkar's thought are misinterpreted on internet these days. Read about Hindutva. The real thing is not radical or fascist. Its just literally Hinduness. @Shaan Sengupta If you believe that the contents of the userboxes you mentioned violate Wikipedia's policies, you can certainly initiate a discussion on the talk page and request administrators for deletion. However, the reason I believe it's necessary to delete Hindutva-related userboxes is that it's a harmful extremist political ideology commonly used in India to justify communal hate and discrimination. Wikipedia should not serve as a platform for endorsing (encouraging) such extreme political ideologies, and this sentiment applies to other similar ideologies as well. WP:UBCR
You and I may have different viewpoints regarding Hindutva; however, it's important to consider its societal consequences. Hindutva can contribute to justifying Hindu supremacism, propagate the idea that certain communities don't belong in India, and discriminate against religious minorities. It also aligns with right-wing political organizations to provide a rationale for socio-economic boycotts of individuals from the Muslim religion as a whole.
Hindutva ideology holders and supporters are using Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and other social media platforms to spread hate, supremacism, xenophobia, racism, and communalism everywhere. We should act to safeguard Wikipedia from these types of divisive ideologies, which create problems between people and polarize people on religious bases. I kindly hope that you will take a thoughtful and careful consideration of this matter.
Please don't perceive this debate as a personal attack. I genuinely appreciate your contributions to the Wikipedia platform. However, it's important to avoid promoting extremist ideologies like this within Wikipedia's content. AMNR0011 (talk) 05:37, 23 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
