The year was 2008; I was roughly 8.52 years younger, 50 pounds (23 kg) lighter, and known by the unfortunate sobriquet User:pd_THOR. After making a lot of edits to "Weird Al" Yankovic (album), I bumped into the seemingly equally-enthusiastic Gen. Quon. We enjoyed a pretty congenial back-and-forth for a time, and I haunted both the article and its talk page until, in autumn 2010, Quon made some edits to the article that were entirely correct, wholesome, and improvements. <pout> …and I didn't like them.</pout> I had a little fit because he was right, I was wrong, and the article was not mine to own. So I picked up my toys and went home. By which I mean I invested no further effort into "Weird Al"-related articles; if Gen. Quon wanted to unilaterally make Wikipedia a better place for everyone by improving articles according to community standards, then he could do so without me.Today, I happened upon the Good Article review of "Another One Rides the Bus" only to find that in my probably-unnoticed absence from the topic, Gen. Quon had been making his way through just about every single thing under the "Weird" umbrella, improving everything he touched along the way. Lo I am humbled. You are far-and-away the better man, and I salute you for your (dare I say) tireless efforts to improve Wikipedia. …especially the "Weird" parts. — fourthords | =Λ= | 04:26, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Once upon a time, when we were both fresh-faced Wikipedians, ours was the first intensive collaboration I'd undertaken. You were an excellent contributor to find in this weird "Wikipedia" thing we were both doing. I have no doubts that positive experience was a significant factor to my continued participation here. I recently came across your username in an article history, and with it came those memories and good feelings. Thanks, and I'm really glad to see you're still here, too. — Fourthords | =Λ= | 04:35, 20 July 2022 (UTC)P.S. I happened to notice your comment above about "dissertation research (about Wikipedia!)", and am fascinated to learn more! I look forward to congratulating Dr. Quon! If I can help with your research in any way, please let me know!
