Research Analyst, Wikimedia Foundation
"No man is an Iland, intire of itselfe; every man is a peece of the Continent, a part of the maine; if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse, as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Manor of thy friends or of thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankinde" - John Donne
About me
I've been an editor since 2006; in my time on the projects I've handled deletions, patrolling, created a load of articles, and participated in pretty much every major area. In October 2011, the WMF asked me to take up the then-new role of Community Liaison, Product Development, which I worked on until late 2013 - at which point we now have five Liaisons. I consider that pretty successful :). Having trained up the newcomers, I shifted to the role of Product Analyst, and from there to researcher. I currently study our search system and how it satisfies (or doesn't satisfy) readers.
Outside of Wikipedia; I'm an avid R programmer and contribute a lot of code upstream, and enjoy archery and whisky.
My work
I'm a researcher and primarily work around reader data, particularly for Mobile.
Disclaimer: I work for or provide services to the Wikimedia Foundation, and this is the account I try to use for edits or statements I make in that role. However, the Foundation does not vet all my activity, and edits, statements, or other contributions made by this account may not reflect the views of the Foundation.
Thanks for all your help in managing our community relations to help design the new article feedback tools together.
As a result of your tireless work and great insights, I am confident that we can provide a better user experience and engage more readers to become editors over time!
And I am deeply grateful for all you've done to make me feel welcome as a newbie on Wikipedia. I have learned so much from you already and can't wait to do more together.
I look forward to a great collaboration with you in 2012! Fabrice Florin (talk) 21:27, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
