Hello, below is the message I have just been notified about and it appears to be directed at me:

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, but at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to The Saturdays, did not appear to be constructive and has been automatically reverted by ClueBot.

  • Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Note that human editors do monitor recent changes to Wikipedia articles, and administrators have the ability to block users from editing if they repeatedly engage in vandalism.
  • Cluebot produces very few false positives, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made should not have been detected as unconstructive, please report it here, remove this warning from your talk page, and then make the edit again.
  • The following is the log entry regarding this warning: The Saturdays was changed by 86.130.245.244 (u) (t) making a minor change with obscenities on 2010-07-12T10:28:02+00:00 . Thank you. ClueBot (talk) 10:28, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Information.svg Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page The Saturdays. Such edits constitute vandalism and are reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. Anna Lincoln 10:31, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

I am from the IP address indicated, but so are over a million others. And did not make the above change, as proven by my account. Why have I been sent this message?

Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by WayoftheWonderer (talkcontribs) 16:37, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! You are right that IPs are shared by multiple users because the number of available IP adresses is limited and ISPs usually give the same IP to several users. A collateral effect of this is that one of such users can receive messages intended for some other user that was using the same IP. From the point of view of other Wikipedia users, there is no easy way to distinguish between users who share the same IP, and messages sent to some user will be seen by all other users sharing the same IP. If the message was not intended to you, you can ignore the message. The most effective way to avoid this is to create an account, as you have done. Hi Anna!!

Thank you for your welcome message.

I would like to improve some articles about my city and region in English Wikipedia because I'm doing the same in Spanish Wikipedia, so I have some knowledge about the way to work here. I'm historian so I'll try to be useful to the project.

Thanks again.

Hello, Anna: I enjoyed editing my first article: César Fernández García. Can you revise it? Thank you very much. By the way, I can´t creat this article yet without diacritics:

Cesar Fernandez Garcia
#REDIRECT César Fernández García
{{R from title without diacritics}}

El Hierro (talk) 15:51, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I read the article, it's perfect. Referenced, with inter-wiki links, info box, photo... I couldn't have written it better. Anna Lincoln 16:56, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
To edit the entry Cesar Fernandez Garcia without diacritics, you must go to the article by following the link without diacritics (follow my link before), and then click on the link "Redirected from Cesar Fernandez Garcia" which appears on the top of the page. Then you can edit the article named without diacritics using the tab "edit". The entry seems to already exist. Anna Lincoln 16:56, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Anna. Thank you for welcoming me to the Wikiworld a couple of years ago. I'm very proud of the barn star that you awarded me. You are the only individual that I "know" in Wiki editing, so I'm bringing my question to you. Yesterday I drafted a new article and saved it, as advised by the Wizard, in my Userspace. But today I can't find the draft. How do I access my Userspace and the draft that (I hope) I sent there? Kotabatubara (talk) 16:37, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I searched your contributions and found your draft here. It is a strange location and I believe the wizard has some bug that made it store the draft there. Provided you wrote the draft being logged in. Regards, Anna Lincoln 18:42, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A reference to 'T.C. Lloyd' of Wales, who gained seven caps between 1909 and 1914 (and was one of the terrible eight), is correct. Although born, Thomas John Lloyd he was always known as 'T.C.' LLoyd. His daughter (my mother) does not know why he was called 'TC' but this seems to have been more common when he played for Glynneath RFC than Neath. Regrettably his international career was stopped because of the start of the First World War.

Any idea why my latest update concerning the recent adolescence problems in Alstonville, NSW, and the lack of police presence were deleted? They appeared the first time, then disappeared. I ran them a second time but they didn't re-appear. Not much point in having an 'edit contribution' system if the cocntributions gets deleted without reason.

[edit]

You are in error. I was making an incremental update to the site and you blocked me from finishing, and it appears you have blocked my further updates to other articles including a technical one on chess ratings. You made a bad judgment and compounded it with censorship that as far as I can tell looks permanent, which will result in my refusing to contribute to Wikipedia in any way in the future. You didn't even leave an explanation of what was going on, which forced me to waste time attempting to make an edit later on that would not work. I don't know what the status of my account is, or what is causing these problems now, but I assume you are to blame. I also got a weird message from some Wikipedia user that looks to be a warning but that makes no sense and also has no intelligible links or explanation. I assume you are the source of these escalating problems and I don't believe you should be in the position of authority that you are.

Update: It appears that Wikipedia is claiming that I "blanked the page" when I look at my account activity, but if that was the case, it was not intended. I had clicked on the link on a stub page that said to click there expand the stub, and it gave me a blank page instead of the usual existing text to edit, so it appears to be Wikipedia's fault. Maybe Wikipedia needs to fix their stub update system instead of banning people who try to make contributions to a page that Wikipedia has blanked out? And maybe you should check on my past years of history of worthwhile updates to Wikipedia pages before banning my account, or whatever it is you did. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Simnia (talkcontribs) 19:01, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm very sorry if me or the wikipedia software misinterpreted your contributions and counted them as vandalism. Could you please accept my apologies? Please understand that Wikipedia deals with a very huge amount of malicious edits every day, and therefore a semi-automated system to discriminate good edits is needed. As that system is not perfect, sometimes good edits are misclassified, and this appears to be your case. I myself have sometimes suffered the classification of some edit as vandalism and had it reverted. Your editing capabilities should have been fully restored to you at this time. Contributing to Wikipedia is a very satisfying activity, and I suggest that you should not deprive yourself of that pleasure only because a couple of edits were misclassified. Again, I apologise in my name and in the name of the Wikipedia community for any sorrow caused by the classification of your edits as vandalism. You forgive us? :-) C'mon, a cool thing of Wikipedia is the people you meet :-) Please, please, come back! We need you!!! Your edits are truly welcome ;-) Best wishes, Anna Lincoln 20:03, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

For showing that Wikipedia editors are humans, way back in 2008. If I hadn't seen your username and page, I wouldn't have started exploring editing Wikipedia, and probably would have never become a regular editor. —innotata 23:21, 27 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for those beautiful words! It's very rewarding that one's actions at Wikipedia not only expand the world's greatest knowledge repository, but also make others get involved and help on that task, specially given that Wikipedia contributors do not get paid for doing their work. I myself was a curious visitor of the site some years ago and got dragged in by the comments on talk pages by others, and by the discovery of Policy pages, which gave me the impression that the evolution of Wikipedia articles was not random, but had solid foundations. Best wishes, Anna Lincoln 11:15, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome, but I am now wondering, what does "cheers" mean? I know that "cheers" is like the plural of "cheer", but what does it mean when someone just says "cheers"? :P Scientific Alan 2(Click here to talk)(What have I done?)(Me) 00:05, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it is a portmanteau between "cheese" and "chess". It means, have a nice time eating cheese while playing chess. I think this other definition is wrong, but I can't edit there coz the site is not a wiki. :-) Anna Lincoln 12:17, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That is... very strange... I like chess, and some spicy cheese... but cheese and chess... That is quite... weird, even for me, and I am the weirdest person ever... For example: I was actually born during half time of the 2000 Super Bowl, and I don't like football... :P (By the way, I mean American football, not soccer) Scientific Alan 2(Click here to talk)(What have I done?)(Me) 21:48, 28 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
(Sorry for the delay.) That's not weird at all. Weird is that you like ketchup and mustard on your birthday cake, like I do. By the way, I think I was born without my mother being present. Anna Lincoln 16:30, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, sorry I took even longer to reply. That's really weird, though. Yeah, I took a while because of lots of school work, and for like 1 month, I could only go to my school's website, because my dad messed up the internet. Anyway, did you know I am going to be a photographer and a musician? I already make music. Scientific Alan 2(Click here to talk)(What have I done?)(Me) 17:33, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Dads can be really tiresome, and teachers too. Teachers often think students have only their subject for the year. It's great that you like photography and music. I sometimes spend time browsing Flickr in search of beautiful photos. And who does not love music? I like Pitbull. I wish you success and fame! Anna Lincoln 15:46, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I like music by Skrillex, Fall of Icarus, Linkin Park, and Knife Party. However, I am not planning on using music or photography as jobs to become famous or anything. I am planning on making music to get some money, taking photographs of things that Wikipedia needs photos of, and then being a chemist to earn most of my money. If I make music, and have those 30 second advertisements on my YouTube videos, I can get like $50,000/year, not much, but enough that with about $70,000/year, I will have enough for a decent sized house within like 2 or 3 years of getting those jobs. That is, if I don't die from sickness. I've been sick for like 4 or 5 days now... :P Scientific Alan 2(Click here to talk)(What have I done?)(Me) 21:12, 26 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's important in life to do what one really likes and enjoys. If you like chemistry, then go for it and make it your job. But I wouldn't became a chemist just because of the money, because I would be doing something I don't like for most of my time. Some people are lucky and they like something that makes money, and some people are not so lucky, so you have to find a compromise and balance between joy and money. I prefer to do something I like and have little money, than the opposite. That's why I chose computer science instead of medicine. Anna Lincoln 15:46, 28 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Good point, but I like science. I would choose to make all my money from music, if it wasn't impossible to get famous. I think I will try to be a scientist, teach the world about science, and try getting famous that way, then make music to stay famous. Of course, if I get some money and a house, and be careful enough, then I will never need to work much. And the best way to do that is making chloroplatinic acid, it is really hard to get, but simple to make. Ever heard of it? Scientific Alan 2(Click here to talk)(What have I done?)(Me) 14:37, 29 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's great that you have plans for your future, but I wouldn't be very confident. I'm not keen on saying, "I will earn this BSc, buy a house, marry some partner, and have two kids", because maybe I am unable to get the degree, maybe a fire burns down the house, maybe this partner breaks up with me, or maybe one kid becomes a drug addict. I think that life is essentially unpredictable, so I prefer to focus on the short term. Some aspects of my life are turning out differently than I expected, and my initial plans got trashed. I'm not working for a big company, nor have a big car. Never heard about that acid :) Anna Lincoln 15:32, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I normally don't plan ahead much. I just know my goals. I basically set a goal, try to accomplish it, and if I don't, replace it with another, easier goal. And chloroplatinic acid absorbs water from air, stains everything when a liquid, and is worth a lot. A small vial filled chunks of it that is about 4-5 centimeters long, and 2 centimeters wide, is worth about $1500. And with a 31 gram platinum bar, worth $1600, I can make two of those vials. And I need $200 in acid each time, so I get about $1,200 in the end. Plus, I will need $400 in lab equipment before making it. That means if I only make it once, I still get $800. I can make $1,600 a week this way, and in 52 weeks, that is $83,200 a year. That is a lot for a simple job, and if I decide to get twice the platinum and acid, I will make 166,400 a year, which is a lot more than most people make. However, I am not sure who wants pounds of super reactive acid that gets water out the air quicker than a old computer gets dust. Anyway, did you know I collect elements? Scientific Alan 2(Click here to talk)(What have I done?)(Me) 00:13, 2 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
If it is so straightforward to produce this acid and it makes so much money, I wonder why there are not a lot of people selling it already. What about using petroleum jelly to absorb humidity? I heard that it can do it and is much cheaper. I can't imagine how could you collect elements such as sodium, which are highly reactive. I collected coins when I was a child. Anna Lincoln 14:36, 5 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it takes a long time. A 31 gram platinum bar takes about 20 hours of being bathed in hot aqua regia to dissolve. At 10 hours a day, that is 2 days, for a profit of $1,200. Now, I could always do it more slowly. 4 hours a day is perfect, since that means I am done without having to work on it too much each day, or work on the weekend. And like every 2 hours, I need to add more acid. And at the end, there is about 30 minutes needed to dry it. So, it takes time, but it will be worth it. And I don't have any really reactive elements yet. My most reactive one is 1.8 grams of uranium, which tarnishes in air. But, toxic is another story. I have like 5.8 grams of mercury, sealed in resin, and I will also get 0.2 grams of thallium, also sealed in resin. Luckily, the thallium isn't about 5 grams, like the other coins. 5 grams of thallium would be really hard to take care of, considering it's toxicity. And I got thinking, you should friend me on Facebook, it is far quicker to talk on there. Scientific Alan 2(Click here to talk)(What have I done?)(Me) 15:57, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I see you have made detailed reckonings about the process! I prefer to communicate through Wikipedia; I enjoy reading other people's conversations, so I prefer to keep my conversations readable to anybody :-) I have salt here, does that count as having two elements in my collection? Anna Lincoln 19:39, 10 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, salt doesn't count, but, Teflon counts as fluorine, since it is the only way to get it. And still, facebook is faster, we should talk on there sometimes, and talk on here when I don't have access to facebook, like when I forget my password. :) Anyway, you should send me a friend request, I will accept it as soon as I know my password. Notice

The file File:Photo of User Anna Lincoln.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

unused, low-res, no obvious use

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
