Be neutral when editing Wikipedia

Wikipedia strives to be neutral (NPOV). Remember, you have a point of view (POV). Think about whether your edits will breach this. If you think other users will think it is POV (Wikijargon for "biased"), then run it past other editors using the talk page for the article. This will allow for constructive debate and editing rather than an edit war.

NPPS review?

[edit]

Hi, it's Opal again. I understand that you've been busy, both on and offline, but could you please take the time to review and grade the second part of my NPPS page? You can find the difference in revisions here. - OpalYosutebito (talk) 15:00, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Highwayman10419 (03:32, 5 November 2024)

[edit]

Would like to add a picture to a page --Highwayman10419 (talk) 03:32, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Highwayman10419Good day. Here's what you need to do to follow the process:
(A) Ensure You Own the Image: You must be the original creator (i.e., the photographer or illustrator) of the image to hold the copyright.
(B)Understand Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia Copyright Polices:
(1)WP:Copyright outlines the need for clear ownership and release of works under free licenses.
(2)WP:Images provides guidelines on what kinds of images are acceptable on Wikipedia.
Make sure your image follows these rules, and that you're okay with releasing it under a free license, such as Creative Commons.
(C)Upload the Image:
(1) Go to Wikimedia Commons Upload Wizard - see HERE.
(2) Follow the steps to upload your image. You'll need to select a license, likely a Creative Commons license, that allows others to reuse the image with appropriate attribution.
(3) During this process, you'll be asked to irrevocably release your copyright, making the image freely available for others to use.
(4) Get the File Name: Once the image is uploaded, you'll be provided with a file name in the format File:Example.jpg. Copy this name.
(D) Insert the Image into Wikipedia:
(1) On the Wikipedia page where you want to use the image, use the syntax:
Description of the image
(2) Replace "Example.jpg" with your file name and add a description of the image.
(3) Ensure the image appears correctly and aligns with the content of the Wikipedia page prior saving the edit.
By following these steps, your image will be legally and properly uploaded for use on Wikipedia. Let me know if you need further assistance! Cassiopeia talk 00:57, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
