Ditto for [2]. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:51, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for expanding this article. I think we can DYK it soon, but could you add inline references? Since you can read Italian, I see there are plenty of sources, including some full view books on Google Print. I have found some online Polish sources, but they are not very extensive. I will now take a break from editing this article to avoid edit conflicts. If that's fine with you, after you are done expanding and referencing the article with Italian sources, I will add the Polish ones. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 18:40, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In my experience, sometimes we have no choice but to use old sources. But I will do what I can with the Polish ones shortly. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 19:47, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I still have one more ref to go through. Could you find the English/Italian name for his secondary school - Kolegium Biskupie Celana w Wal S. Martino, które w owym czasie uchodziło za najnowocześniejszą szkołę w całej Lombardii – Wenecji. It doesn't seem to be translated as Bishop College or Celana College...--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:14, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

When you create articles better than stubs, such as Italy–Poland relations, I suggest you add a few inline references and submit them to T:TDYK, so that your work can appear on Wikipedia's main page. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 21:20, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Hi, I have been looking at the edit history of Italy-Yugoslavia relations and found the most recent entries rather difficult and time consuming to go through due to the paucity of edit summaries. Your newest entries contain just the words "Removed duplicated map". I would draw your attention to Wikipedia: Basic copyediting, the "Edit summaries", particularly line eight, which starts "Generally speaking..."
Happy editing

HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:03, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You mention him here. I cannot find any ref to verify this, or anything to even prove he was notable. I suggest that if you can reference him, you move the note on him to the newly expanded battle of Krzykawka. Also, you may find this article of interest (email me if you cannot access the full version). --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 18:17, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am sure he is notable, but before he is mentioned in the context of Krzykawka, I'd like to see a reference for that. All I am seeing now are Wikipedia forks and mirrors :( --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 19:50, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The library website would be ok for that level of an article; does it mention Krzykawka and him being exiled to Siberia? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:53, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's great, could you add this to the article as a proper inline cite? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 00:41, 28 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Having a personal version of an article

[edit]

I don't think this sort of thing is allowed, meaning having a personal version of an article and ignoring edits from other users. For example when you copy your own version into the article you wiped out all changes by others. Obviously that shouldn't happen. This would only lead to reverting between the version instead you should edit the standing article. Tüzes fal (talk) 21:36, 25 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I since realized that you DID took new edits into account to some degree, I'm sorry for misreading the situtation. However another user([3]) also implemented his version in the article so it's kind of confusing right now. I just hope some of my edits will be preserved as well in the end. Tüzes fal (talk) 00:07, 26 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2012 Dnipropetrovsk explosions

[edit]

The reason why I removed that section was because I could see no clear connection to Tymoshenko in it. Now, I'll admit, I know next to nothing about Ukrainian politics (and when editing, I don't usually stray too far from the Formula One pages), but reading over the page at the time, there was a lot on Tymoshenko and nothing to tie it back to the explosions. In its current form, I'm not seeing anything that directly links the explosions to Tymoshenko, aside from Dnipropetrovsk being her birthplace and the photos being released. It's too circumstantial, and despite being properly referenced, its presence implies that the explosions took place as a form of protest or a political statement about Tymoshenko, but there is nothing to substantiate that implication. But I'm not going to continue to edit the page. I don't know enough about the subject - the closest I get to the Ukraine is a friend from Moldova - and don't have access a wide range of sources on the subject. I only really edited it in the first place because I saw that the page needed to be written in more-encyclopaedic terms. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 11:22, 1 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Polje Čepić

[edit]

Please revert your edits and move of the article Polje Čepić to Zatka Čepić in all Wikipedia languages and side projects. As you can see in the 2011 census, in the municipality Kršan of the county of Istria there two separate settlements - Polje Čepić with 148 inhabitants, and Zatka Čepić with 31 inhabitants. Your move was unsubstantiated, it was about village Polje Čepić, and not small hamlet Zatka Čepić. Easy check of the sources used in the article, "Population" note, and its history, aim to this conclusion. Your move was without sense and reason. Zatka Čepić is so irrelevant is not even mentioned in the Istrian Encyclopedia. Return all articles and links how were previously.--Crovata (talk) 22:18, 19 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

What are exact Italian official names for villages Polje Čepić, and Zatka Čepić? In Croatia by the term Felicia is considered the Čepić village, ie. Polje Čepić.--Crovata (talk) 13:53, 20 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Morten Jung-Olsen

[edit]

Hello. I moved your newly created article to a draft space. The new title is Draft:Morten Jung-Olsen. Based on the sources provided and based on my own searches, it seems there is not enough support for this article as biography of a living person per WP:BLP, especially given the claims made in this article. This is contentious material and all the negative claims need to be backed up by independent reliable sources, again please see WP:BLP. I have translated your references and they do not seem to be sufficient. In any case, please go through WP:AFC for release of this article. Thanks. ---Steve Quinn (talk) 03:02, 16 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits on Boris Malagurski

[edit]

Hello there,

Thanks for your edits, but it's not customary to repeat link names that have already been linked once. I reverted the edits, but don't be confused by my classification of my revert as vandalism, because that was referring to the anon that edited before you and removed sourced content. Just to be clear, I don't consider your edits to be vandalism, but I do think there is no need to link, for example, James Bissett or Michel Chossudovsky more than once. I hope we can agree on that!

Regards,

--UrbanVillager (talk) 12:54, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @UrbanVillager: well understood - my edits were spurred by the fact that only some names in one list were not wikilinked; that makes it look strange. Is there any exception to the rule for when a name is cited more than once alongside others in a list? (I don't see having a name linked twice in a page as being necessarily overlinking, but this is up for debate). Thanks, --Dans (talk) 15:16, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hm, good question, let me look into it. If you find anything on the matter in the meantime, do let me know. You've made me curious about possible exceptions as well. --UrbanVillager (talk) 19:01, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

List of mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina

[edit]

Hi, thank you for your edit adding context for the List of mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina article. While it is fresh, though, could you possibly please provide a reference, hopefully as an inline citation (e.g. perhaps in format <ref>Author, ''Source title'', Date</ref>))? Either way, thanks for your contribution.

By the way, I happen to have worked on creating/developing many lists of mosques and churches. --Doncram (talk) 19:40, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Argh, sorry, I didn't look well enough at the edit history to see that you had just created the whole list. Thanks for creating it! Thanks also for adding a footnote there, possibly while i was making my comment here. There is something garbled about the sentence though, which needs fixing ("45% of them, of which 81% of the 1,149 mosques"?), which I would just try to fix but your source is off-line. --Doncram (talk) 20:13, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No problem @Doncram:! The data and reference are lifted from the table at the bottom of Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in case you wish to take a look there. Thanks, --Dans (talk) 20:21, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The sentence is still garbled and doesn't make sense. I see the table you refer to, but that is messed up too, mentioning "282" pre-war mosques of one type despite 900 having been destroyed during the war. This makes me think you don't have direct access to the source, and if so then perhaps it would be best just to provide some link to that section of the Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina article, where the numbers may be changed/fixed later by someone else. I think the general fact of many mosques having been destroyed should be mentioned without citing the exact numbers in the list-article. --Doncram (talk) 20:49, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Doncram:, I've corrected the table recovering the correct numbers from bs.wiki - not a direct source but at least they add up. I'll try to streamline the sentence too. --Dans (talk) 23:18, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Joseph Cachia Caruana

[edit]

Hello Dans,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Joseph Cachia Caruana for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

I understand your good intentions at WT:Harassment but I think it is better to not feed that sort of thing. Accordingly I removed your post. There is nothing people at Wikipedia can do about off-site attacks on editors other than resist those who might attempt to bring the battle here. In general, if someone is concerned about outing, they should email an administrator or email the Arbitration Committee. That is not necessary in this case because they are aware of the situation. Hi Dans, I saw your work on Milan Zloković and I appreciate it greatly. I was wondering if you could take some time to contribute to Architecture of Serbia and Serbo-Byzantine Revival? Hi @Sadko:, thanks for your kind words. So far I have been contributing mainly to Architecture of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly its Austro-Hungarian period. An article you recently created, Safet Oručević, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Very nice work, by the way! Thank you for improving Maltese coverage here. Just a tip moving forward, I have structured the references on Anthony Galdes in the usual recommended Wikipedia way. I strongly recommend using this reference template moving forward. Firstly, it's helpful for readers when you have more than one reference from the same source in the same article (e.g. more than one ToM article being used) and also, secondly, it helps prevent WP:LINKROT. Copying licensed material requires attribution

[edit]

Hi. I see in a recent addition to High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 21:35, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Dans. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Fundación Secretariado Gitano".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

How to deal with disruptive editors

[edit]

Hi Dans, I noticed your recent RFPP for Dubravka Šuica and your post on User talk:Highspeededit and just wanted to drop you a note on how to more effectively deal with characters like this. Firstly, in this particular case, as the changes in question were done two weeks ago, their edits (which I wouldn't consider unambiguous vandalism, by the way) would be considered stale and not ripe for immediate admin attention. Secondly, if you're noticing one user in particular persistently editing a page non-constructively, WP:RFPP isn't really the appropriate venue for reporting them; generally, you would post to WP:AIV, though not in this case as the edits, as said before, are both stale and not unambiguous vandalism. Thirdly, there are several successive User talk warning messages that should be placed on any disruptive editor's talk page before reporting them anywhere in order to give them ample warning, as most administrators won't consider sanctioning them if this hasn't been done. There are several tools that simplify this process, I'd recommend looking into Twinkle or RedWarn.

Sorry for the wall of text by the way, but I do think this might be useful information to you. Have a nice day! AngryHarpytalk 10:26, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @AngryHarpy: for the useful suggestions, I'll check the templates. I've left a message on the user talkpage, but it is a write-only, single-purpose account, so I don't expect much from that. --Dans (talk) 10:32, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I did notice they've been doing this several times over the past months, so there is a small chance that the admin responding to the RFPP may just indef them out of hand, though I don't think it too likely. AngryHarpytalk 10:38, 25 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ezlev:; yes, this is disappointing. The encyclopedia is missing a lot of "Architecture of <country>" articles, and "it reads more of an essay than an encyclopedia entry" is not a very helpful review. --Dans (talk) 22:10, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize that my review wasn't as helpful as it could have been. I was largely reacting to the presence of phrases like "The architecture of Slovakia has a long, rich and diverse history", "the most outstanding", "a couple of hallmarks", etc; these aren't particularly neutral or encyclopedic. Another thing that caught my eye was that some bullet points and sections seem to be unsourced. While it wasn't the reason for my decline, I'm also not sure how well the use of photos conforms to WP:GALLERY. With that being said, it's clear that you've done a lot of work on this draft and that it's well on the way to becoming an article. Again, I apologize for the disappointment and for the generic decline reason. ezlev.talk 22:31, 27 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks @Ezlev:; you're right, I will rework those formulas and I will try to find more sources for those sections. Cheers, --Dans (talk) 13:00, 28 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Assignment of higher importance on WP:MALTA

Hello, Dans. You have recently edited a couple of WP:MALTA article talk pages in order to increase the importance rating from low to mid. Please review the guidelines on Wikipedia:WikiProject Malta/Assessment before you edit further. Signed, Pichemist ( Contribs | Talk ) 10:10, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

thanks @Pichemist:, I did so indeed while checking the guidelines (Mid = "Topics that are reasonably notable on a national level within Malta without necessarily being famous or very notable internationally, including smaller towns"). Happy to discuss on specific articles, I just would like less and less pages to remain without any importance assessment. E.g. Frans Sammut, an important Maltese writer, may deserve at least a "mid" level importance assessment; likewise for Tonio Fenech, a former minister. If we disagree on the importance assessment we should discuss it on the talk page of the specific article at stake :) --Dans (talk) 10:41, 17 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Onel5969: thanks; however, could you please advice on how better to develop it? There are already 4 sources, and his notability derives from the important modernist buildings he built in Sarajevo and Split in the interwar period, as included in the article. --Dans (talk) 15:20, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Absolutely. First, let me say that I think this person might be notable, which is why I moved it to draft, rather than suggesting it be deleted. So, what you need to do is find 2-3 references, from independent reliable sources, which go in-depth about him. Right now, the first ref is not reliable, and the other 3 are simply brief mentions. Usually a notable architect will have obits in regional/national newspapers, which is always a good source. Architectural books might also be something to look into, as well as history books of the towns/cities where some of his works appeared. Hope this helps. Let me know if you find stuff and I'll take another look. Onel5969 TT me 15:37, 23 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
