Gavin. Thanks for your message and for expanding the stub on Holbrook Gaskell II. I was interested to read that there were more than 3 HGs. I used "II" and "III" because I had been writing a series of articles on the pioneers of the chemical industry in Widnes and Hardie's book refers to them as I, II and III — so I copied him. By the way could you add inline citations to all your additions (including what you have written about HGII). (You also seem to have lost my references but I will replace them when I get the time.) It seems a bit excessive when one is new to Wikipedia, but in the long-term as articles get expanded, if inline citations are not there, the article has to be re-written more or less from scratch. You can get advice on this from WP:CITE (or more or less copy what I have done — that's how I have learnt a lot about the necessary techniques). In addition if you write something about yourself on your user page, you will get an official welcome and some guidance on where to go for the information you will need. Best wishes. Peter. Peter I. [edit]Thanks for uploading File:Photo of Hillary Lappin-Scott.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. Microbial Genomics (journal)
[edit]Hi GavinThomas. I saw that User:Blythwood put a Speedy Deletion tag on the above article, but I don't think it was correct, as the journal is peer reviewed and as such is notable within Wikipedia and deserves an article, so I have removed it Please ensure the article has all copyright material removed. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and if the article is not cleaned up quickly it may still be deleted per WP:AFD by User:Blythwood. scope_creep (talk) 23:14, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
- Note to article creator and to Scope creep: being peer-reviewed is absolutely not sufficient to declare a journal notable. I have looked at this journal and as far as I can see, it fails all criteria of WP:NJournals (the inclusion criteria for academic journals) and WP:GNG (the general notability criteria). Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}

- Hi, I understand your frustration, article creation is one of the harder things to do here. Meanwhile, I've brought the article on mBio up to our standards, removing all the promotional stuff and a lot of unencyclopedic trivia. Compare it now to the article on Microbial Genomics... Some good tips on how to write good articles on scientific journals can be found in our journal article writing guide. Hope you won't give up.
