Over the past few hours, you've been using an unvetted essay to justify the removal of well-cited information from numerous articles, as you did here for just one example. This essay does not have consensus or the force of policy, and should not be used to mass edit dozens of articles in such a short time. @Jayron32: I would like to say in my defense that the reason for my recent edits is due to a discussion I was involved in at the Michael Richards talk page. I realize now that I’ve misunderstood this diff and again, thank you for clarifying my errors. If it helps, I will take no offense if my recent edits are reverted. Absolutely. Jayron32 you just accused Hitcher vs. Candyman of "using an unvetted essay to justify the removal of well-cited information from numerous articles." You may be an admin, but in this case, you are incorrect in your assessment and do not have the support of a majority of editors and admins on WP regarding naming minors when the cited source can be easily referenced inline and the actual content of detail was not removed. Hitcher vs. Candyman no one will challenge your edits on principle except an admin with a problem with your mass edits as a whole. It is absolutely ridiculous to expect an editor to gain consensus for each and every article across the board at WP to mention a minor by name within an article. The very idea in doing so would place the policy of the original essay on trial. It would seem that the admin in this particular situation has more of a discrepancy with your mass edits and seemingly focused attention to a particular sweep scrub rather than a legitimate argument regarding the mentioning of (non-notable) minors within an article at WP. In the future, simply explain your reasoning in the explanation summary (not citing the problematic essay) and leave it at that. There's an uncomplicated solution to your problem here. Just link the discussion that established the consensus you claim exists. If a majority of users has agreed to this, just link to the discussion where the did so, and you'll have no problem justifying your action. However, you can't just claim that majority exists just because the two of you think it does. Two does not equal a majority. Since you claim that discussion has already happened, please just link it and you'll be fine.--Jayron32 16:55, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment.
