Your signature

Hi MelbourneStar,

I recently noticed that your signature is slightly flawed. The little star leads to Special:Contributions and not Special:Contributions/MelbourneStar. I'm not sure whether or not that's intentional, but something you might want to look at. Happy editing. WT101 (ChatCount) 12:20, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Hey World, thanks for your concern!
However, I believe we already had this discussion here but to avoid any further confusion, I'll simply remove the link altogether, because it does seem a little redundant. Best, —MelbourneStartalk 12:42, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Sorry, MS. If I ha remembered that I already asked, then I wouldn't have. Keep the star, just remove the link. I think it might confuse some people, that's all, but a cool signature Happy editing. WT101 (ChatCount) 12:47, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
No worries, and I shall just remove the link. Thanks again, and happy editing to you too! MelbourneStartalk 12:49, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

bhumihar brahmin

Some people are much prejudiced and have grudge against some caste. They are showing that thing by using defaming sentences and derogatory remarks. They are always reminding about caste or communal conflicts to create the rift and destroy harmony between different caste, creed and religions. These people should be restrained from editing wikipedia which is always considered as the great source of knowledge among common folk. Bhumihar word came quite late to enumerate the land holder Brahmins of magadh and adjoining region. Babhan word was mainly used to describe these brahmins in ancient times and even now this word is more prevalent in magadh region than Bhumihar. Since babhan word is a pali word and we brahmins got it in ancient times when Rajputs had not even come to our country. Rajputs came to our country only after king harshbardhan. They(Rajputs) came to bihar even in much later period that was the period of muslim invaders. Babhans were present in bihar during ashokan times also that is indicated by ashokan inscription. So associating Babhans (bhumihar Brahmin ) with Rajput is a false propaganda to defame babhans. Puspmitrasung was the first babhan king so land holding nature of these type of brahmin are from inception. we should not try to use any derogatory remark against any caste or religion. we are living in a democratic world so its our duty to create fraternity among the different groups of society and respect the diversity of the nation. this much only i want to convey. so i plead those editors not to propagate false information and try to defame any society.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Ashumech527 (talkcontribs)

Hi Ashumech527, welcome to Wikipedia!
Please, for further notices, only remove content with a justifiable reason in the edit summary. Your removal of content, didn't appear appropriate - especially considering that a vast majority of the content was cited to reliable sources. Thank you, —MelbourneStartalk 15:18, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Morgan 2PP

Morgan reports two calculations of TPP; one is based on asking survey respondents, and the other is based on the flow of preferences at the previous election. The latter is what all of the other pollsters use, and it is the one psephologists see as more reliable, so that is what we use. -Rrius (talk) 07:57, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

That's fine, but perhaps next time explaining within the article, using <!-- & -->, about what should/should not be used in the article, is appropriate — because from an outer perspective "we" seems to be "you". —MelbourneStartalk 13:23, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi there,

Sorry the original source for the John Curtin (Haplogroup J2) page was removed by the user. The information provided is, however, still valid and it would be much appreciated if you could re-add the info. to the page. In the mean time, I will try to find an alternative source for the same information.

Ref:Hello, I'm MelbourneStar. I noticed that you recently removed all content from Deepali Pensare, with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, I restored the page's content. WICAT

Hi, I think the center is quite notable given the facts that is a multi-university center and that it ranks#1 by NSF. By the way, the article also has 21 references including ones from like seven nationally ranked universities--Tartluaus (talk) 14:05, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wireless Internet Center for Advanced Technology (WICAT), the main reason for redirect was because it only had 1 reference then. Now it has 21 references--Tartluaus (talk) 14:14, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi Tartluaus,

The article, Wireless Internet Center for Advanced Technology was redirected back in January, to Polytechnic Institute of New York University, per this discussion. Now, since you haven't made large content or quality changes to the article (Ie. adding in reliable third party sources) – consensus for redirect, stays.
To clarify, those "21 sources" are press releases, which are primary sources. This article requires multiple secondary sources - newspaper articles etc. —MelbourneStartalk 14:16, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
7 references are directly from seven nationally ranked universities. 1 reference is directly from NSF website and 1 from Bloombergnewsweek. All very reliable.--Tartluaus (talk) 14:20, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
Those seven references, are press releases and or questionable. 1 reference doesn't equate to multiple. —MelbourneStartalk 14:25, 10 August 2013 (UTC)

These sources, with the exception of the Bloomberg source, appear to be tertiary sources, which should only be used to give overviews or summaries, but they should not be used in place of secondary sources for detailed discussion – which your revision of the article, tends to do. I'll be unable to reply, until a couple of hours, so I urge you to consider finding actual reliable sources, like the Bloomsberg source, prior to recreating the article. Regards, —MelbourneStartalk 14:42, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
After further review of the articles – there appears to be a few that may actually be valuable - ([1], [2], [3], [4]). The article, however, would require a clean up, to accommodate the reliable sources, and to summarise (rather detail) the content used from press releases. Hope that helps! —MelbourneStartalk 03:40, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
I don't want to make the first edit as it would look as if I'm edit-warring with you. I would like for you to revert yourself and if possible, please kindly add the reliable citations in the external-links section - so that other editors (including me maybe) can work with them and do the clean up. Thank you for taking out time to review.
Thanks again, --Tartluaus (talk) 17:00, 11 August 2013 (UTC)
I've self-reverted my edit - this is a 3RR (and edit warring) exception, so you are able to edit without being in fear of edit warring. I would suggest, however, that you cite in-line references (reliable ones, of course) - I might err on this, as I still am a bit questionable about the content - so best be done by someone, who I assume, has an idea about what they're doing. Kindly, —MelbourneStartalk 01:46, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

Hi. You were bold and made change at Rafael. I reverted your edit and invite you to discuss the change you would like to make on the talk page.--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 16:27, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

WP:BOOMERANG. You were the one who added the disputed content into the article, in the first place - I reverted it. MelbourneStartalk 22:55, 8 August 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for starting the discussion and explaining your view. If I was a better man I would have started the discussion myself. If you don't mind, I'll move it to the Rafael talk page.
In my opinion, it was safe to assume consensus for my January edit (See WP:EDITCONSENSUS) after a few months and that after a non-revert change was made the BRD cycle was done (See WP:BRD#Revert).--SaskatchewanSenator (talk) 19:02, 10 August 2013 (UTC)
I wouldn't describe a non-constructive edit from an IP and a general fix from a bot as a change to a normal editing cycle; but I do understand your view. That's completely fine moving the discussion from your talk page to the Rafael article talk page, too. Hopefully some compromise will be reached. Cheers, —MelbourneStartalk 03:30, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Recent Edits

Hi MelbourneStar, you are kindly requested to research the article and the personality before editing their article.. please refer to the talk page of NFAK before making any more edits. NFAK is considered one of the greatest singers from Asia (Both by Pakistani & Indian Public & Music Experts worldwide). Calling him great is a usual thing (Let It be TIME magazine, NPR, or Current Musicians or anyone who knows and understands his music) and very neutral (what's not neutral is tags given to him such as "Voice From Heaven", "Singing Bouddha" ... "Prophet of Music".. such things were already removed from his wiki page)... Your dedication to Wikipedia is appreciated , but this is very saddening. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.78.172.162 (talkcontribs)

You've added content that appears to be completely unsourced and written in a non-neutral point of view – despite an array of warnings kindly asking you not to. —MelbourneStartalk 12:16, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

You've been asked to add reliable sources to the content you wish to add in – however, you have ignored each and every notice asking you to do so. This is in breach of our policies on verifiability. I have given you a final warning, and if you continue to add unsourced content to the article (or any other article, for that matter) you may unfortunately lose your editing privileges. Thanks —MelbourneStartalk 11:07, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
When you say I need reliable sources, you mean I need proof of what I am editing? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.234.193.240 (talk) 11:27, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
You need reliable sources to validate the content you're adding in. Hence what all those notices have said, which you still continue to ignore. —MelbourneStartalk 11:50, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

Edit war

Hello, I wondered if you can help me, sir. Recently you intervened in an edit war on the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University and so know what I am talking about. The page is under attack from its followers again. I just removed my name from a list of them on the talk page [5].

I am not a member. I only edited the page a couple of time as the religion is well known in India for its wealth and for breaking up families to capture members. It seems very unfair. I think someone needs to protect this website from them. TIA --Robo-quote (talk) 15:11, 4 September 2013 (UTC) (Im sorry my time is short)

Hi Robo, and again, welcome to Wikipedia!
I understand where you're coming from, and totally agree. I can see why you may have previously been identified as a single-purpose account, as you had only limited a few articles. But since then, you've edited, constructively, on more than one article and topic. Your name will be kept off the list. Regards, —MelbourneStartalk 23:32, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Edit-a-thon for Ramona Park

Hello-

I am working with the East Grand Rapids or EGR MI Public Library as they embark on a GLAM project. We are planning an edit-a-thon for October 19 in the afternoon, to improve Ramona Park.

East Grand Rapids was the home to Ramona Park and to the Jack Rabbit Derby Racer [6]. The Library is home to a local history room - a room filled to the ceiling with memorabilia, photos and artifacts from Ramona Park.

The plan is to upload some of this material via Commons (hopefully before the edit-a-thon - coincidentally during Wikipedia Loves Libraries month), and improve the EGR related articles.

One problem - there are few locally evident Wikipedia editors to actually show up at the library for an edit-a-thon.

If this is of interest, we can make arrangements for you to remote in. There is a possibility of a cool tee-shirt [7] donated by the library, too!

The library might be able to provide you/this project with a preview of the historical materials - it seems to me there might be more than one article to create.

Also I've come up with a DYK candidate: Did you know that President Gerald Ford worked at Ramona Park, home to one of three derby racers in the US? (The Ford part is true, not quite sure of the derby racer stat, though!)

Thanks for your consideration, Bdcousineau (talk) 00:38, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Hey John, welcome to Wikipedia!
No head-aches caused, Wikipedia generally can be a fast paced environment, but once you get the grasp of things, you'll enjoy it.
With in regards to the content relating to Davis, are you able to provide a reliable source (rather than a forum) to verify the information? as forums of any sort, and original research must be avoided within Wikipedia articles. Kind regards, —MelbourneStartalk 08:08, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
