Welcome to Wikipedia, TheDarkKnight433!

[edit]

I'm Tesseractic and I want to welcome you to Wikipedia!

Wikipedia is an amazing community adventure which is constantly being edited. There are many different versions of Wikipedia for many different languages, and the English version has 6,907,486 articles which are written by volunteers like you and me! We even have a newspaper, The Signpost, to keep you up to date with news and new developments. Making your first steps on Wikipedia can be hard sometimes, so if you need any help, don't hesitate to leave a message on my talk page or ask a question on your talk page by clicking here. Someone will help you soon!

Wikipedia has five pillars which summarise Wikipedia's fundamental principles:

  1. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia
  2. Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view
  3. Wikipedia is free content that anyone can use, edit, and distribute
  4. Editors should treat each other with respect and civility
  5. Wikipedia has no firm rules

Indic script

[edit]

Information icon - Please do not add any Indic script, to any of our India related articles, as you did at Jammu and Kashmir (union territory), and several other articles, as this contravenes WP:NOINDICSCRIPT - Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 21:39, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This avoidance of Indic scripts only applies to articles that are predominantly India-related and is excluded from, among others, articles about Hinduism, Buddhism, or any of India's neighbouring countries.
According to this statement, for Hinduism-related articles, the use of Indic languages is permitted. Therefore, for topics such as the Himalayas and the Ganga, which are related to Hinduism, the use of Indic languages is acceptable. However, I agree with the exclusion of Indic languages in articles about Jammu and Kashmir. TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 00:25, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi TheDarkKnight433! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Abbas Ansari that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. BBQboffingrill me 23:58, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, I accept the mistake. It must have happened in a hurry. Thank you for pointing it out. TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 00:27, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Ganges. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Ravensfire (talk) 00:48, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The onus is on you to start a discussion on the article talk page. Yes, I understand your view on INDICSCRIPT. I disagree with it as it's intended for a direct and strong relationship which this does not have. Please don't edit-war on this, this is a contentious topic and you need to be conservative in your edits in this area. I'm asking you to self-revert to the status quo and seek consensus on the article talk page. Ravensfire (talk) 00:53, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at Himalayas shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. MrOllie (talk) 01:01, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Other editors? There is only one editor, who is everywhere in this Wikipedia. Read the guidelines before giving warning. It's permissible to use Indic language in case of Hinduism. TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 01:04, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You have gravely misunderstood how Wikipedia operates and what is permissible on this site. MrOllie (talk) 01:05, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@TheDarkKnight433, you have already revert four times today and are past the WP:3RR limit. If you revert again, you will be reported to WP:EWN. Ravensfire (talk) 01:08, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contentious topic notice

[edit]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Final warning

[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing, including issuing gratuitous warnings to other editors. If this behavior continues then your editing privileges will be revoked.—SpacemanSpiff 03:25, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Same to you as well. Final warning for what? The other editors are just editing and reverting the whole article without concensus, this is against Wikipedia's policy. TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 10:21, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for not here to build an encyclopaedia, including BLP violations, absurd picking of fights with other editors.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  —SpacemanSpiff 10:39, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well done. Where is the fight? It's just discussion. Its sad to see an Indian guy is so biased against other editor. I gave you the reason as well. You directly gave me the final warning. This is just misuse of the features given to you. Also, you don't block indefinitely, if someone made a mistake the block should be of minimum 2 weeks. Its a clear misuse of the feature given to you. TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 10:44, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Whose sock are you, please? Bishonen | tålk 10:48, 8 April 2024 (UTC).[reply]
I assure you, I'm just one person using this account. Is there a specific reason you're asking? TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 10:58, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You have a lot of opinions about Wikipedia practice for such a new editor. Bishonen | tålk 11:03, 8 April 2024 (UTC).[reply]
I appreciate your observation. While I may be new to editing, I've spent time familiarizing myself with Wikipedia's guidelines and practices. I'm committed to contributing positively to the community and following established protocols. Is there any specific aspect you'd like to discuss or clarify? TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 11:06, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You've spent time familiarizing yourself? That's exactly what I expected you to say. It does not convince. Pinging Zzuuzz. Bishonen | tålk 11:09, 8 April 2024 (UTC).[reply]
@Bishonen: Going by the userpage here: same network, same location, different device. It amounts to a  Possilikely (a mix between possible and likely) (+). -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:11, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Which user is of same location? TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 12:14, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Zzuuzz. You can look at your userpage for information, TheDarkKnight. Bishonen | tålk 12:18, 8 April 2024 (UTC).[reply]
Had a sneaky suspicion about that last night, thank you both for handling this. Ravensfire (talk) 00:43, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What's wrong in this? I learned alot in these past few days. I pointed out several guidelines that even other admins are not familiar with. It just shows that some admins here are just not capable of makin a decision. I thought it was a normal thing but I guess I'm a special case here. Very interesting. TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 11:21, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SpacemanSpiff Why are you removing my opinions on talk pages? This is clearly a misuse of the features given to you. Your admin status should be revoked. Also, you didn't mention any reason for the removing of my discussions on talk pages. Least educated black Indian admin.TheDarkKnight433 (talk) 11:32, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
