New article

[edit]

I think I make a Peacocks Centre article would this article be notable enough?

Willrocks10 (talk) 19:10, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there is a specific Architecture guide, so you need to meet the standard of WP:GNG. Being honest I struggle to see how it's notable. But then you have managed to make Export House stick, which is even more marginal. Won't hurt to give it a spin, but don't be surprised if it gets put to AfD.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 21:49, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I will give it a go see what happens.....

Thanks!

Willrocks10 (talk) 16:24, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just found out It already is on Wikipedia- it was created in 2005!

Willrocks10 (talk) 16:36, 5 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I have been trying to get this looking good for a bit. Any help with it would be appriciated!

New Wiki Project

[edit]

I have thought up of- Wiki project woking- do you think it should go ahead?

Many thanks!

Willrocks10 (talk) 15:45, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think you should be bold! It might not take off, there are plenty of much bigger projects that dont do very much, but that's no reason not to try. I don't do much editing on wikipedia at the moment, but if you create it I'd join.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 19:20, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I will give it a stab and see if it works!

Willrocks10 (talk) 20:21, 6 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes,

I have had this idea for ages! I have had all the plans drawn up! I will try to send you my plans Will!

Thanks, pbl1998

Hi I have created WikiProject Woking! Although I can not make a user box for it- could you make one?

Thanks

Willrocks10 (talk) 15:13, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'll see what I can do.

pbl1998

I can do one if you like, I've made several in the past. Where is the project though, can you post the link? --ThePaintedOne (talk) 07:10, 9 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Here is the link!

Willrocks10 (talk) 16:20, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

How does this look? I chose red to match the Woking council colours, but that can be changed. It's a bit tall for a userbox, but if I scale down the martian pic much more it wont be clear what it is. --ThePaintedOne (talk) 09:07, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This user is a member of
WikiProject Woking.

One thing, I haven't added any categories to this, or the stuff that puts users in categories when they add this to thier page (see for example the wikiproject Surrey UBX). This is because I'm not sure about creating those categories for a wikiproject. If you guys can get that side sorted I'll add them to the UBX.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 09:15, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Great! Nice user box! Willrocks10 (talk) 18:21, 13 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Help

[edit]

I have a slight problem- I have given two people barnstars- one to you and another to User:Wjfox2005 and for some reason those edits were put in my abuse log- what I don't understand is how is giving people barnstars abuse?

Many thanks

Willrocks10 (talk) 07:21, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No idea I'm afraid, I'm not very familiar with the abuse system. Probably best to find a friendly admin and ask them. FWIW, I'll be happy to acknowledge that the Barnstar (thanks by the way!) isn't 'abuse'.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 08:10, 16 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another new article

[edit]

I have another idea for an article- one about the sand pits at horsell common. I think it should get one because it is quite significant because of War Of The Worlds. I also think it should have one as the Muslim burial ground has one and their as significant as each other!

Many Thanks

Willrocks10 (talk) 17:31, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

X has a page so Y should as well is not a valid reason to create or keep an article, it needs to stand on it's own merit. You need to demonstrate notabillity, and that really needs to be independant of just being mentioned in one book. To be honest I can't see this, it's only notable as a location in a book and we already have an article for Horsell Common which mentions it. By no stretch of the imagination has the info about this subject become too large for that page, in fact that page is only a stub anyway. If you can find more things to say about it, better to use it to expand the existing article rather than creating a new one.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 20:14, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article One Canada Square made very short

[edit]

Hi,

As I am on the wikiproject- Skyscrapers I look at many skyscraper articles to see how they are going. Recently two users have made One Canada Square article much shorter by deleting a least two- thirds of the content of that article, which I think is frankly vandalism, the things that they deleted were up to wiki standards. I would like you to advise what I should do about it.

Many thanks

New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi ThePaintedOne,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
