Dr.V M Thomas is an Embryology Scientist & Indian politician from Andhra Pradesh.[1] He is an MLA from Gangadhara Nellore Assembly constituency which is in Chittoor district. He represents Telugu Desam Party.[2] He won the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election .[3][4]

Thomas having a world record by delivering 65000+ IVF/ICSI babies successfully. He is one of the world famous Embryology Scientist.

Thomas was born on 28 June 1974 in a middle class family to Vadingadu Prakasam and Vadingadu Rani, Thomas is an Embryology Scientist.

Political career

Telugu Desam Party

He joined Telugu Desam party in June-2023 , TDP won GD Nellore assembly constituency in 1994 as it was part of Vepanjeri constituency. Delimitation of assembly constituencies happened in 2006 and it was became as GD Nellore,after that TDP has never won this assembly seat. Then Thomas won the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election from Gangadhara Nellore Assembly constituency representing Telugu Desam Party. He got polled 101,176 votes and defeated Krupalakshmi, daughter of deputy chief minister K. Narayana Swamy, by a margin of 26,011 votes.[5][6]

  • He completed his Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in 1998 from University of Madras, Chennai.
  • Worked as IVF Scientist and IVF Embryologist at Srishti IVF Centre, Chennai during 1998-99.
  • He conducted training programs for students on IVF at Madras University in 1999, Department of Animal Biotechnology.
  • He conducted IVF training programs at Apollo Hospitals chennai,UK,Singapore,Japan,Dubai,Saudi Arabia,America.
  • He Worked in Saudi Arabia as IVF Scientist during the years 2000-2002.
  • He Worked as IVF Scientist at Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Chennai during the years 2002-2004 and responsible for first baby birth in India through IVF in the university .
  • He worked as IVF Scientist & Chief Embryologist during 2004-2010 at Institute of Reproductive Medicines,Madras Medical Mission,Chennai.
  • He started Chennai fertility center & research institute(CFC & RI) in 2010, Now CFC having branches at Chennai, Pondicherry ,Tirupati , Hyderabad , Kolkata and Dhaka(Bangladesh).
  • Chennai Fertility Center (CFC) employs over 1000+ people.
  • He has written more than 25 books and various articles sharing his knowledge.
  • So far, he has assisted the birth of nearly 65,000 IVF babies worldwide with his treatment methods.
  • He Conducted more than 200 IVF camps to infertile couples worldwide.
  • He is visiting Consultant at Dubai, Saudi Arabia, UK,Singapore, Oman, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Bahrain, Malaysia.


Contribution to the society

  • He is currently sponsoring(Every Year) "V M thomas gold medal" to the topper in Bio Technology at Padmavathi Mahila Vishwavidyalayam,Tirupati,Andhra Pradesh.
  • He donated 50,00,000/- rs (50 Lakhs) to CM relief fund for Vijayawada flood relief activities(2024).
  • More than 5000 IVF doctors have been trained and qualified by CFC.
  • Chennai Fertility Center (CFC) given employment over 1000+ people.
