Reason: A great photo of jazz icon Cab Calloway. A better image in terms of showing what he looks like compared to the Billie Holiday photo below. Extra EV from seeing him singing. I love that the sheet music includes some of his trademark slang words like "hep".

If the lines were damages to the image, sure, but in this case they were physically there on the wall behind him. It's fairly insignificant, so I wouldn't oppose if it were changed, but for me digital manipulation should only be used to restore what was originally there.
