Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) scrolls can be used to extract DNA and can be used in whole-genome sequencing and other genomic applications for pipeline validation and assay development.
FFPE cell pellet scrolls have particularly useful research applications alongside clinical FFPE tissue biopsies. This
product can be used as an FFPE control sample, processed in parallel with a clinical FFPE tissue sample for genetic and genomic analyses. The process of fixing and embedding the reference cell line pellet mimics the preparation steps taken with tissue biopsies, thus subjecting the control sample to comparable physical and chemical stresses. These techniques, which are essential in clinical research, tend to compromise the final quality of extracted DNA, thus leading to a significant baseline performance difference as compared to a non-processed biospecimen. The use of an FFPE control sample therefore reduces technical variability between samples, improving the accuracy and reproducibility of clinical genomic tests.
