Hard Roads

This life isn’t one that I chose for myself. Years spent as a daughter in the Dominion MC left me washed up and struggling to breathe. Life was never flowers and sunshine. It was gravel and dust, the trails of dirt left behind when the brothers tore out, floating up from the ground to hover in front of an angry, red sun.I could never have imagined that a life sitting at rock bottom could get any worse, but it did. Life is funny like that.Just when you think things can’t get any more bleak, a shade is drawn leaving you staggering and blind – lost in a world of heartache and sorrow.I met J.D. Brooks on the road and he swept me off my feet. Literally. But not in the way you might think. He was both an angel and a demon. He was the most vicious storm that ever darkened my life.He was also my salvation.Stripped from the hands that always held me back, I was released into a nightmare that would threaten everything I thought I knew about the crap hand I’d been dealt.I thought I could never hate a man more than the one who stole me from the life I’d known. And in our time together, he would teach me one important in the end, it doesn’t matter how our paths intersect, because when it comes down to the basic truth of our lives... ...we’re all stuck traveling down hard roads*Disclaimer - The book is not recommended to readers sensitive to graphic depictions of violence. Woah! Talk about one CRAAAZZZY ride! When I heard that Lily wrote a dark MC book, I really didn’t know what to expect. Bikers are just not my thing (unless it’s Joana Wylde) but this is one of my favorite authors here and I had a hunch she’d deliver a story that was different and she did! Hard Roads is a gritty MC book and told in true Lily White fashion – if it ain’t dark, it ain’t from Lily! ;)

“Life was never flowers and sunshine. It was gravel and dust, the trails of dirt left behind when the brothers tore out, floating up from the ground to hover in front of an angry, red sun.”

No one knows more about the tough side of life than Holly. Daughter of the Dominion MC prez, Holly grew up in a MC club filled with drinking, whoring, and violence. Contrary to a lot of the heroines in MC books, Holly doesn’t embrace biker life. She hates it. It doesn’t help that her father succeeds in pissing off a number of powerful people. She longs to live a normal life, free from the constant danger that comes with being the daughter of the club president. And then…then she meets JD.

“He was both an angel and a demon. He was the most vicious storm that ever darkened my life. He was also my salvation.”

A member of the rival club, JD captures Holly and plans to deliver her to his club prez. Holly knows that her life is now in danger as the men her father screwed over are now after her to get back at him. But surprisingly, she finds out that JD isn’t all bad and nowhere as ruthless and heartless as the other men after her. There isn’t much romantic development in the first half of the book as the story is more plot-driven – Holly and JD are running out of time while trying to get away from revenge-hungry men and every other danger.

“It’s not like that. I’m the one responsible for her being in the situation in the first place. That’s the only reason I’m sticking my neck out to do something about it.”

The second half of the book took an interesting turn. Before when Holly was living in the Dominion MC, she thought she hit rock bottom. Wrong. The ordeals she goes through in this part of the book easily trumps rough biker life and it’s unfortunate she learns the hard way. Honestly, there was one scene near the half-way mark that made me a little queasy but it just goes to show that there are larger evils out there that Holly or JD could never imagine. At this point all I wanted to do was give both of them hugs. These were two people who never wanted a life in a MC club but that was the hand that got dealt to them so even though there wasn’t a lot of relationship development, in a way, I could understand their connection. They both recognized a kindred soul in one another.

“Life hadn’t been kind to either of us. We were both born into lives that neither of us wanted and we both had to go through hell to find each other.”

From a general overview, I really enjoyed this book – it was full of action, had some super hot, dirty, sweaty sex scenes, and an occasional dark, gory scene (my favorite!). But I didn’t full-out love it like I usually do with Lily’s books. After mulling it over in my head, I realized the root of the problem: there is just way too much happening all at the same time. It seemed like this book hit on every evil possible in books – drugs, kidnapping, rape, torture to name a few – and nothing was truly developed to a point where I felt invested in the story or characters. It almost felt like I was reading three stories in one: a mini-story about JD and Holly’s romance, a mini-story about their ordeals, and a mini-story about the aftermath and picking up the pieces.

Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. I think if you’re a fan of fast-paced, action-packed books with a side of dark and gritty bikers you’ve just found your next read.

So I'm not a connoisseur of biker romances, but I'd like to imagine that I know my way around Dark romance or just plain Dark fiction (not really). Which is why I jumped at the chance to read Hard Roads by Lily White since I would basically read her grocery list!

Hard Roads, is a dark MC Novel, that is heavily plot based, although there are a liberal number of hot, smexy scenes for those who enjoy their smut (like me). But again it focuses on plot, these aren't your neighbourly Motorcycle Clubs that do a toy run every year to raise money for the orphans. They're rough and they don't take shit from anyone, blowing someones brains out for looking at them funny is part of their daily regiment. These guys will shoot you, just to make sure their guns are in working condition.

Holly is a club brat, her father is the club President. She lives and breathes the life, she's a tough as nails woman who doesn't roll over for any man. Until her father's carelessness puts her right smack in the middle of danger. She's kidnapped for all intents and purposes, and this isn't the type of book where the heroine is "kidnapped" and then placed in a room filled with silks and high thread count sheets.

So for about 40% of the book I felt a bit disconnected with the characters, and for some reason the book didn't feel dark enough. I felt the story was running around in circles, and I was a bit frustrated. But that quickly ended with the introduction of a character who shall not be named.

I started off indifferent to JD's character but by 50%, I finally understood him, therefore I started feeling what he was feeling. JD's character is a bit of a mystery in the beginning to me, so I didn't know if he was good or bad. This frustrated me because I wanted to immediately place him in a category. His character had so many sides, and by the end of the book I really appreciated it.

Like all Lily White books, this one had the trademark gore scenes which I've come to love. Her writing is graphic, she doesn't hold back, I wonder how she thinks up all the stuff that happens in her books!

I loved the compound OMG The atmosphere was chilling. The people who were there were either checked out human beings, or completely sick and twisted!

On the whole I thoroughly enjoyed this book, Lily White never disappoints!

We can't hate on the pain and tragedy that form our lives,
because it might be what's needed to lead us to our destiny.
People meet and become acquainted in the events and turmoil that shape us into who were meant to become.
But most importantly, I would tell any person that would listen that
in the end, it doesn't matter how our paths intersect,
because when it comes down to the basic truth of our lives...
...we're all stuck traveling down hard roads.

My my my what shall I say yet again Lily amazed me, but not necessarily with her dark edge but more with her ability to be able to write something slightly different and less dark and more suspense. She had me on edge but then I just fell in love with these characters they were kick Ass strong and heroic.

So what's it about

Holly has been brought up in the MC world, not that she wants that but she has been in the world where brothers exist, booze, sex, women are used and that the existence her father has led her into. Holly's mum died at a young age due to being in the club and left her at the age of 12, once her father lost his wife he seemed to forget about his only daughter which then has lead her into the eyes of people he has got into trouble, eyes that need paying and the way they're going to get paid is by kidnapping Holly and using her for payment.

 photo F072BD0A-7917-4E5B-B8A8-893C6BAD75C1_zpsc0gpjsjy.gif

What I will say here is that I was engrossed into the MC world, Lily wrote REAL MC life, there's no airs and graces but total brothers with guns, drugs you name it, this is how they exist.

 photo 7202A352-1737-4BCB-A241-7623F95D6D48_zpsz9pa4trf.jpg

JD wants out of club business, he's been in the club from his father who was also killed and ended up surviving by working for the MC world and the wrong club who are in it for the money. He's on the road to pay his last debt then he can go and live his life in a normal way. His last debt to kidnap Holly and hand her over for payment.

So JD and Holly end up on the Road on some kind of Road trip, thing is Holly is strong, she's fighting and she's fighting good. What you have to get here is that the first half is slow there's a slow build up and there was no romance to the story at that part of the game. Saying that there is sex, just no romance. Still there was definitely chemistry no doubt about it.

 photo 1C1A35B5-9DD4-4300-B841-E92A9952EA72_zpsaugf0ohn.jpg

I don't want to give much more away lets just say it picks up at around the 50% mark, where things turn and Holly is in a vulnerable position.

 photo F04098CF-D673-4164-8487-DC7A80ABD9C9_zps1y54henb.jpg

The last part of the story was to me a completely new Lily, seriously I fell in love with how things turned, there were moments where honestly I had tears in my eyes JD becomes a beautiful soul and really does care for Holly, she becomes more to him than a way out and he see's her as a person, a life, a WOMAN.

"I'm not going to be like my mom. My man will respect me. He won't cheat on me and give me a disease that kills me. He'll be there to raise our kids." Her voice grew wistful and distant look flooded her eyes. "Long as I have that, I don't care where I live or what I do."

Change and healing, learning about themselves and each other, learning to let go.

 photo 4512F2E2-550F-46FF-916E-0C151612EFD4_zpscy6otgsr.jpg

Above all this story is about survival both Holly and JD have lived a tough life and this story s about them learning to live, and to change the path they're on.

 photo D81ADE1D-91C1-4607-B530-07D22D97B3B3_zpsmh0aqhqf.jpg

I think you'll as a reader go two ways you'll either like me enjoy the difference and find this a mix to the normal Lily and enjoy her writing skills or you won't like it as much due to the lack of dark.

SMALL WARNING

There are some gruesome parts cause come on this is a Lily book, but I felt that they were explained rather than I went through them myself, just to be aware don't expect hearts and flowers the whole way through.

So do I recommend it: Yes definitely

Happy Reading kt xo

Holly is the daughter of the club President Dominion MC Club.
Growing up in a motorbike club environment is something she hates. She yearns to escape from there.
Being made worse by her dislike of her father due to the fact she blames him for the loss of her mother.

Her father has enemies...many.

Collect, deliver and he's free to leave the MC life he so hates too.

But things don't go quite to plan. Holly is strong, determined and is not taking being held against her will lightly.
But even she has no idea what is ahead for her.

As JD conscience starts to get the better of him, Can he save Holly before its too late.
And is he feeling more than concern for this women.

My thoughts...

This is Lily Whites first delve into the Motorbike Club genre, but you wouldn't think so, well written and exciting with great characters.

Its very easy to get sucked into this story as with her others.
This is a darkish biker story and whilst she doesn't hold back in some parts...it wasn't quite as dark as some of her other books...
Its an action packed story, hot and gory just as you would expect from her unique writing.
Did I enjoy it?... yes I did.

Holly is a biker brat and is fed up with her life as daughter of the President of the Dominion MC. She wants a normal life but when she is suddenly kidnapped by a rival gang set on getting leverage against her father, she has to fight for survival.

JD is tasked with the job of kidnapping Holly in order to pay off his debt to his MC, but what he is not expecting is a strong determined fighter who won't go down without a fight.

Things take a dark and violent turn in the second half of the book when JD has to make a decision which haunts him. Can he make up for what he has done?

I really enjoyed this book, it was steamy, action packed, dark and with some really sweet moments.

The MC life is all Holly is familiar with. Her father is the president of the Dominion Motorcycle Club, so she grew up amongst the tough bikers. Not much fazes her, for she has seen it all. Her life is about to take a big turn when she is kidnapped out of nowhere.

 photo imagejpg4_zps872d218f.jpg

Also accustomed to the life is JD. His father was involved with the Hell's Rebellion MC, so he too grew up in the life. He has one last mission to accomplish for the club before his debt has been paid. This last task will change everything.

 photo imagejpg3_zpsc929ee7a.jpg

Hard Roads is a love story filled with guilt, trust, passion, fear, and some of the most gruesome images you may ever read.

I would consider myself a fan of books about motorcycle clubs. I would also say I am a big fan of Lily White. So to put these two together sounded like the perfect recipe for an intense and brutal read. And fuck me, did this deliver on the brutality. Eek!

Initially when I started reading this, I was a little disappointed. It was very...blah, blah, MC presidents daughter... blah blah... she's a tough cookie... blah blah ... oh no, she's kidnapped by another club... blah blah...sexual attraction...yada yada. Honestly, I wasn't that impressed. And then something takes place, our H/h are separated, and shit gets real! Wow!

The middle part of this book is what sold me. It had my anxiety levels up to a 10, and I could not believe what was taking place. This wasn't a mindfuck situation. This was pure horrific and mind blowing viciousness and gore. A big kudos to Lily for painting such a vivid picture of someone losing their life. The thought process and imagination of events that occurred cannot be scrubbed away from my brain anytime soon.

The last third of the book was good and I did like it. It was really hard to come down from the high after reading some of those scenes though. Since the ending was so tame comparatively, it lost some major oomph on my end.

Character-wise, both were likable, and I was rooting for them in their situation, but I was put off by JD's introduction to what he was like for the second half. We were introduced to a ruthless biker, but in actuality he was more of a sweet guy. I get that being under the guise of a kidnapper he should act rough, even if that's not his true self. But even his POV in the beginning made him out to be more of an outlaw than he actually was.

Overall a decent MC read and I would only recommend if you are not bothered by dark content and graphic murder.

¿Me gusto el libro?... SI
¿Me sorprendió?... SI MUCHO
¿Lo leería otra vez?... HELL NO

"She was a shifty bitch and couldn’t be trusted, which, oddly, only made me like her more."
description

JD
El protagonista es por supuesto un bad ass biker, súper hot. Pero que busca alejarse de esa vida, él nunca ha querido ser biker y su último trabajo para que el club por fin lo deje ser libre, es llevar a Holly a donde le ordenen.

"He had a boy-like quality to him that would be deceiving if you didn’t know the son of a bitch that he really was."

A strong heroine character always gets my attention and Holly is no exception! She’s a bad-ass kind of woman! Being born around MC’s makes her tough and but nothing prepares Holly when someone kidnapped her in payment for whatever her father did. JD, her kidnapper, promised the rival MC’s that she’ll deliver Holly. JD, at the beginning, is not a likable character. Picture this: She’s using Holly to free himself from the gang and he knows Holly is innocent and doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment, but still, gave Holly to a ruthless head of another MC. (In short, JD was an asshole!) These scenes where Holly has been used and abused, I need to stop at one point before I continue my reading because it’s just too much and I feel the pain Holly was going through.

Feeling guilty for what he did, JD seeks the help of Henry (a lovable MC biker) to get Holly back. He did get Holly back… drugged and obviously not in good condition both physically and emotionally!

“She was so beautiful, lying there within the crisp white of the sheets, her dark brown hair flowing over the cotton pillows. She was my responsibility, my chain. I couldn’t survive unless she survived.”

Overall, it was a great read and I thought it ended with someone dying, and it does. But the epilogue answered all my questions. I finished this book with great satisfaction and looking forward to read more from this author.

Just a warning: Some scenes from this book are not for the faint-hearted!

4 Life is like a deck of cards...You Never know what your are delt Stars

When I was told Lily was going to write a Dark MC book I was so excited.

I am a big fan of HERS and a big fan of MC books.

Holly is the daughter of the club President Dominion MC Club.

The MC is something she hates.

She hates her father due to the fact she blames him for the loss of her mother.

Holly feels life has dealt her a shitty hand.

This is not the life she would of chosen for herself.

She longs to live a normal life.

Free from danger.

And all aspects that comes with being the daughter of the club president.

One thing is for sure Holly is no wimp she is one BAD ASS GIRL.

 photo 10269497_758441640845211_3254891994445105670_n_zps675c9857.jpg

JD is a member of a rival MC.

He wants out of the club but in order to do so he has debts he has to pay.

His last debt is to kidnap Holly and deliver her to his president.

She is his one ticket to freedom.

But along the way things get very ugly.

He never delivers her to his president someone intercepts and takes her from JD.

Someone PURE evil.

 photo HardroadsteaserLilywhite_zps5a0d3ba8.jpg

Holly can not believe the situation she is in all because of one man.

Holly knows that her life is in the worse possible danger.

The men her father has screwed over is going to use her to get to him.

JD isn’t all bad and nowhere as ruthless and heartless as the other men after her.

Yes JD kidnapped her and lets just say that was a picnic compared to the situation she is in now.

Now JD feels responsible for what has happen to Holly.

“It’s not like that. I’m the one responsible for her being in the situation in the first place. That’s the only reason I’m sticking my neck out to do something about it.”

He has felt guilty for what he did to Holly and needs to make things right even if that meant giving up what he has been working for.....

HIS FREEDOM

Can he get her back?

Will Holly survive?

Did they break her beyond repair?

Did she loose her fight and now is a hollow shell of a women?

Can JD make things right with Holly?

Will either of them survive?

We can't hate on the pain and tragedy that form our lives,
because it might be what's needed to lead us to our destiny.
People meet and become acquainted in the events and turmoil that shape us into who were meant to become.
But most importantly, I would tell any person that would listen that
in the end, it doesn't matter how our paths intersect,
because when it comes down to the basic truth of our lives...
...we're all stuck traveling down hard roads.

This book is full of action, sweaty sex scenes, and an occasional dark, gory scene.

OMG just read it you will understand.

Diablo was WOW their is no words for that man.

I heard he is getting his own book.....That is going to be one dark ass book.

One thing is for sure Lily does not write rainbows, unicorns and butterfly books. (thank goodness)

This is raw, gritty with violence, rape and torture.

You have been warned.

I like this book but it felt like something was missing and I can't seem to put my finger on it. Maybe it was the insta-everything that threw me off. Yeah, that's probably it.

I was immediately drawn to J.D. and all his alpha-hole-ness. But it was hard to connect with him when he was first introduced. However, when I got to know this man, I fell for him, especially after what he does for Holly, who is a strong heroine that fought for her life the entire way. Of course there are some sick and twisted events that happen to her that changed her emotionally and mentally. The things she went through was really hard to read about. Seriously. I was very disturbed and almost skipped over those parts. Eek! But, in spite of what Holly went through, she's a fighter through and through. And so is J.D. I loved that about both of them.

My biggest quibble with this book is that there isn't enough time or build up in between the events that happen in the story. There is a whole lot of dark and crazy drama, which made the story feel rushed. And the romance felt really rushed. But even though I say that, I did enjoy how their romance plays out. It was a nice touch to a very dark storyline.

Overall, this is good book and I do hope to see more books in this MC world Lily White has created. She's written a dark, edgy, twisted and emotional story that held my interest the entire way.

Happy Reading!
Paula :)

Ow my.
Lily White has done it again.
I was worried with this one and it being an MC book.
It's not her typical kind of thing.

HOLY COW!!!!

If you are looking for a good dark book to read here are my reasons to get Hard Roads:

#1 It's an MC book. (I love MC books)
#2 It's a DARK (My favorite genre)
#3 It's by Lily White with a twist of M.S. Willis (Author with a fantastic track record)

What else could you look for in a dark book?
Nothing. It's all in the pages of Hard Roads.

Not many authors can pull off what the very talented Lily White did.

A unique story with a fantastic connection with the characters.

Munchkin, Munchkin, Munchkin..
When will you learn to keep your mouth shut dear?
Probably never because you grew up with bikers and we all know bikers don't give in.

J.D. You are an a$$.
How could you do what you did and then try and fix it? Dumb a$$

Diablo you sick bast$rd. You need to die.

Henry you are not nearly the harda$$ you make yourself out to be.

I can not wait to see what else Lily can come up with.

First of all, I love Lily White's writing. It's smooth and will grab your interest from the start. Her writing so good that once you start you can't stop. Because that's what happened to me with her every book. I read it in one sitting . They are so amazing . This book was no different. This book was fantastic from the start. I loved Holly. I loved how strong and fierce she was. She never gave up fighting. Never submitted to being weak. She fought and that's the main thing I loved about her. Maybe I hated JD in the start in starting abut as the story went on further my heart was breaking a little seeing him sad. When you read this book you will know this book is different from every MC book. I will call this one of the best MC books I have ever written. The story is hooking and their is never a dull moment. I loved how the characters progressed. You need to read this book. I heart was pounding till the end thinking what is going to happen next!!

Lily has done it again! Written another dark thriller that will be loved by her readers. There are some shocking moments to this book...IF YOU HAVE A WEAK STOMACH DO NOT READ HARD ROADS. That being said...you may need to read it during the daytime too so you don't dream about it as I tend to do with a book I'm really into.

It takes a really strong female to bounce back from the stuff Lily White thinks up in her stories. This one is no different. It's amazing to me how someone can be determined enough not to let their spirit completely split in two and sink w/in themselves. It happens enough in real life for sure.

It is all about the choices you make. We all have our hard roads to cross. Our own troubles to bare. I suppose something could be worse that what happens in this story. A person could always think of worse I suppose. I admire the path these two characters have chosen for themselves. Neither of them had a choice what they were born into. However they do have the choice as to whether or not they stay.

Okay, so this was a romance? Too much violence that I didn't care about. I don't mind a darker romance, but this one just didn't make the romance mark with me.

Know what pissed me off? ******spoiler alert*********
He drove away and left her to be horribly abused. Just drove away.

This totally sucked for me. Hope you have a better experience.

Happy Reading!

I don't think I have enough words in my vocabulary to describe this story.

So let me quote from the book:

'life hadn't been kind to either of us. we were both born into lives that neither of us wanted and we both had to go through hell to find each other. We cant hate on the pain and tragedy that form our lives, because it might be what's needed to lead us to our destiny. People meet and become acquainted in the events and turmoil that shape us into who we were meant to become'

If there is one thing you do this year then read this book. It was just unbelievably good.

Well, not bad at all. Really Hard Roads for Holly, indeed. And the psychotic level was beyond my imagination. Both Diablo and Joker (Holly's father) has extreme twisted mind I think.

2.5 stars. This is a purely subjective rating, the book actually isn't bad. This is my first biker romance, so it's possible this sub genre isn't for me.

It's crude and trashy, but the writing has some of Lily White's poetic beauty. It's entertaining, but I'm losing interest. I skimmed the rest and it's just not holding my attention.

A positive quality is that the heroine is strong, feisty, and the opposite of a doormat.

The writing isn't bad, but what annoyed me was how the author explained all the interactions between the characters. I like subtlety. I'm able to put pieces together myself...I don't need all the interpersonal interactions explained so thoroughly.

Besides being kidnapped and abused by her father's rivals for an interval of time it isn't that dark. Felt more like a biker contemporary romance with an edge.

**This book has elements of dub-con, non-con and graphic violence**

OK, so this was unexpectedly brilliant!!! The reason I say unexpected is because I wasn't crazy about Her Masters Courtesan, BUT I enjoyed it enough to try more from this author, and am so glad I did.

I love a good MC read along with dark, gritty, pacy and sexy, and this had it all. There was plenty of action and twists & turns, and I've the skin all chewed up around my fingernails - nice!!! This book had flavours of On Every Street, Captive In the Dark and the Gypsy Brothers series, and yet it felt fresh and original in it's own right.

Dominion MC President's daughter Holly is kidnapped by rival MC member JD. Unknown to Holly, her father has pissed off plenty of people who would only happily use his daughter to get to him. JD's role is to deliver Holly to one location, before she's carted off to another location and bartered against her father with. He knows she's going to be in for a tough time, but he feels as long as she keeps her mouth shut, nothing bad will come to her. But things head south very soon, and JD's conscience comes back to bite him in the ass, and he's left with no choice but to rescue her, despite how much they despised each other.

It was hard to like JD initially what with how rough he was with Holly, and yet I grew to really like him and feel he had a lot of redeeming qualities. No, what he did was not cool, but at the end of the day it's fiction, and although I would never tolerate anything like this in real-life, I've no problem escaping with it in a book.

I absolutely LOVED Holly! Holly NEVER gave up, and was a total badass with a heart of gold. Many other heroines I've read about gave up under less stress, and yet Holly clung on every time.

As an aside, besides the brilliant characters and storyline, this book was beyond well written with dual POVs. A couple of typos, but I could live with them. All in all, if you love dark MC reads, then this is totally for you!

Wow! I have to say, this book was not exactly what I expected from Lily White. It had her usual dark style, but there was so much more to it than that. The dark is very dark and twisted! If you can't handle that you probably shouldn't read it. But, if you can handle it, you will get to read an incredible story that will make you feel just about every emotion possible. I absolutely love how Lily writes. I feel like she paints pictures with words and I can see every detail of the story as I'm reading it. So, even though MC is a new genre for her, it's still her always brilliant writing. I have to say I was shocked by the ending. I wanted it to end a certain way, but expected it to end another way. This is a book that I would reread and I don't do that often! I loved it!!!!

Another great read from Lily White.

I was given an Arc for an honest review.

The story was well written and flowed very well, I felt a deep connection with all the characters. I was gripped from the start and in the middle the dark side arrived, violent, very graphic and perfect for this story, however for me I felt the story could have carried on with the dark side for longer and felt it built up and then quickly change direction.

Still an amazing read and a totally unique MC book and story, would recommend.

I didnt think it would be possible for the one and only Lily White to write a MC book....but she sure did! Loved the different aspect of this MC book. It wasnt totally focused on the daily happenings of a MC. It was about 2 children who grew up in the MC and were trying to find a way out of the club. The story flowed perfectly and even got a taste of the wicked Lily White torture scenes that make her dark books outstanding :-)
All in all, Hard Roads was a good standalone MC book!!

O.M.G.

This was sooo not what I had been expecting from this book. We were threatened with dark and while there was certainly that it was more too. So much more. I’m still in a state of shock and picking my jaw off of the floor having really not expected what I read.

Holly is the daughter of an MC, the president of the bikers she grew up around. She is opinionated and a tough girl. But, and this is a huge but, underneath all of that she wants more from life than moving from one biker to the next or worse, like her mother, staying with one for all her life, for him to go and sleep with any woman around.

JD is a biker, a member of a rival group, who has been tasked in kidnapping Holly and bringing her to them for ransom due to the crimes of her father. He is a tough as nails biker who’s only concern is to get this one last job out of the way and then he is free of the life he has been forced to live to pay back his debt.

The story that follows isn’t a happy one by any means. However I have to say that unlike Lily’s other books it isn’t JD that is the true ****** in the story. By no means is he an angel, he committed atrocities to get out of a situation and was truly selfish about that fact. However he truly strove to right that wrong and heal the damage that he felt responsible for.

There are 4 truly evil/crazy people in this, I’ll let you figure out who they are and you decide which of them they are. Two of them get their comeuppance but it is a hard road that Holly has to travel to reach the end of her story.

I will not be spoiling the ending for you or who dies, yes people die but it would just be cruel of me to not give you the option of picking up your jaw from the floor! This, in my humble opinion is her best book yet. It is dark without the same shock factor as HMC but dark enough with hints and recaps to leave you cringing at the situations that have passed.

A truly great read by a master of her genre. Go on and buy it. Your in for a great read.

Please note I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Hard Roads by Lily White
5 Stars
I literally just finished and it was everything I wanted and expected from a Lily White book. It was more than just another MC book because it had the infamous Lily White spin. That dark kind of fucked up that draws you in and spits you right back out. When I first heard she was considering writing a MC book my first thought was “HELL YEAH!” I had no doubts that she could pull it off. I thought it was VERY well written, believable, with great characters. I loved the dialogue and witty, sometimes funny as hell banter. I loved JD <3 and Holly, who had a mouth on her!! My favorite line was "Can you speak English, please?" Honestly laughed out loud with that one! (Read the book and you will know why that was a TOTALLY inappropriate time to be a wise ass!) What makes a book a 5 star read for everyone is different, obviously. For me, a book is 5 star when it has me “FEEL” everything. When it has my emotions all over the place and I am a complete an utter mess! THAT’S what this book did to me. I was intrigued, angry, shocked, disgusted, then happy and nervous all at the same time because KNOWING all along that Lily White has a way of messing with us I couldn’t even allow myself to be completely relaxed during the beautiful happy moments. I was on guard knowing if I turned the page I could very well be hit in the head with a 2x4 “BAM!!” So yeah, I found myself holding my breath and I was a bundle of nerves alllllll the way through. But I love that shit and I was at the edge of my seat just waiting to see what was in store for me next. This book was a gripping ride of highs and lows that had me all kinds of crazy and I ate it up completely. YES I HIGHLY recommend this one ladies!

Hard Roads by Lily White

Holly born into the Dominion MC life was never a normal one. She never chose this life for herself. All her life she seen things that she wouldn't want her worse enemy to experience. Holly is a bad-ass because she had no other choice. She thought life could never get worse....

Until the day she met JD Brooks

JD came into Holly world he stole her freedom and change her life....LITERALLY

He was bad news and the enemy yet he saved her in many ways...she lived a nightmare and was introduced to another one.

The two of there paths crossed are definitely some Hard Roads...

I was given this Advanced Reading Copy for an Honest Review:

Lily White newest released titled, Hard Roads. I first must say this author has talents like no other. Every time I read her books it overpowers my mind, body, and soul. Lily has a skill of sucking you in, turning your mind so you think you have this figured out and BAM your wrong, I love the humor in this novel, it makes the reader get invested in the characteristics of the characters. Lily is a dark author and she never fails on making my blood pressure go through the roof and at the same time please me greatly. Her writing style is amazing how the words come on paper. She describes so well in a realistic yet mind warped way so be ready for it. Hard Roads will leave a memory in your head and you will be re reading this novel time after time. I must say thank you to Lily for giving us these amazing stories written so perfectly. I give this book a million star if I could totally 5 stars! Until we meet again Lily (:

"In the end, it doesn’t matter how our paths intersect, because when it comes down to the basic truth of our lives... ...we’re all stuck traveling down hard roads."

Wow, what a ride.

Holly is a child of the Dominion MC club. Her father is the president but let`s just say she doesn`t enjoy this life. She`s seen some pretty bad stuff and just when she thinks it can`t go worse the life has proven her wrong.

JD, a memeber of the rival club, kidnappes her. She is his ticket to freedom. He needs to deliver her to his president and all his debts will be paid.
But things get pretty bad.

Wow, this book was one hell of a ride. The first half of the book was "calm", but then the dark side of Lily White`s writing came out.
Holly went through some pretty "dark stuff". My heart broke for her.
I was surprised to actually see that JD was a hero and not an antihero. Because, let`s be honest. I`m not used to "heroes" in Lily White`s books :)

I don`t want to spoil the story. But I`m going to say this book is amazing. It has everything. Dark elements, action, hot scenes, a hot biker and a strong heroine.

Definitely a recommandation!

"We were two people born to be together, shaped by miserable lives and now attempting to escape the unfortunate circumstances that had given us the chance to know each other.."
