I didn’t know he was forbidden until after our one night stand…

I met Milo Corti during his self-destructive era, and he met me at the beginning of mine. That night when we crossed paths at a college party, we only had one to feel good during our hell storms.

After we parted ways, I’d planned never to see him again. That was until I showed up for my first day as a student-teacher and found him sitting right there before me. Now I was forced to cross paths with the person meant to be nothing more than a fading memory.

The more time we spent together, the more drawn I felt toward him. When his world shifted for the worst, I couldn’t help but to lean in closer.

I’d always done the right thing. For the first time ever, I wanted to do something very wrong. I wanted to fall in love with the one person who was off-limits.

The problem with falling for something forbidden? Once you began to descend, you were destined to crash and burn.

This is my favorite kind of Brittainy Cherry book. It had all the feels (no one does emotional books like her) but was also sweet, steamy, and forbidden. It had so much heart and left me in happy tears. Perfect perfect perfect!

Milo and Star meet at a frat party on her twenty first birthday and Star does something impulsive that's not like her. She gets together with Milo. She figures she'll never see him again, so no big deal, right? When she shows up to her student-teaching and finds him sitting in class she figures out it's a very big deal.

This book was a bit forbidden, but let me tell you about the emotions. When I tell you this one hit me so hard. Something came into play later in the book that was so unexpected, but brought such depth to the story and made it stand out far beyond any student teacher romance. Starlet and Milo both needed each other in different ways and had something big in common that not many people truly understood.
"I realize that it's you," I whispered.
"What's me?"
"You're the something that makes me feel better, even on the worst days."

The Coldest Winter is Brittainy Cherry at her best. It gave me the same kind of vibes as some of my older favorites of hers and I honestly couldn't have loved it more. Milo and Starlet are very much the grumpy/sunshine couple I needed and I highly recommend reading this one!

╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

ღ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗪𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥 ღ Is a full length forbidden romance book by author Brittainy C. Cherry. Spoken in 'Dual perspectives.' HERO: Milo HEROINE: Starlet

'𝑩𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒔𝒍𝒆𝒆𝒑𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆. 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝑰'𝒅 𝒃𝒆 𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒊𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒈𝒉. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒄𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒅 𝒎𝒆.'

With shimmering eyes and a full heart this is an easy 'Okay' 5 star read!! My top read of 2023!! 🙌 The feels were from here to infinity, the emotional game this played on my heart wrecked me in the best way possible, who knew a pink bicycle would bring me to tears. This author fast became my unicorn author and this book just cemented that fact. Grab a glass of wine, a box of tissues and fall for all that is Star and Milo.

What' you'll get:
💋 Forbidden romance
💋 Teacher/Student
💋 Emotional turmoil
💋 Angst
💋 Grumpy/Sunshine
💋 Grief

This without a word of a lie is one of my top favourite teacher/student books, the author did justice to this genre, so beautifully written, a slow burn with all those catchy feels us readers love to chase. If an author can make me cry this year that book is getting thrown onto my 2023 favourites shelf!!

Going into this and our first official meeting with our hero, he didn’t really warm me up towards him, he was unapologetically a dick.
Further into this and OMG I eat my words, he got me good, he gave me the swoons, the tears, the feels.

This is one of those books that you NEVER want to END no matter how much I tried to slow down my reading, the result was still the same THE END! I loved this so much! These two were perfection! Without the other they would not be whole, she was his anchor in his darkest moments, he was the extra beat in her heart. This was so raw, real, and throughout I was their biggest cheerleader. Now my biggest dilemma is what to read next 🤷‍♀️

”One day, I’m going to love you out loud, and it will be the best day of my life.”

this is hands down my favourite book of the year so far. it truly annihilated me. i am unwell i need to go lie down. i have not cried alongside a book this much in so long.

everything about this book was perfection.

it was one of those books that falls into your lap at the perfect time when you need it most, without even realising just how desperately you needed it.

i feel so seen, validated and understood after reading this masterpiece of of book. seriously the validation i felt reading this!! that it’s okay to be 23 with no idea with wtf is going on in your life, that we’re built to fuck up and make mistakes and stumble to find out way. that it’s okay to just be you, that you don’t have to be brave and courageous all the time to be worthy. that it’s okay to do what’s best for you even if you feel like you’re derailing your whole life in the process.

it made me feel a lot less lonely<3

i want to write a review so bad that encapsulates all the beautiful and gut-wrenching and soul-aching feelings it stirred in me, but i don’t think id be able to do it justice.

just know that Starlet Evans and Milo Cotri will have a place in my heart forever. as individuals and a couple, they are breathtaking. their love will forever stay with me. i really didn’t think id love this book so much, it’s truly knocked me on my ass fr.

There are only a few authors that I trust enough to take me through heartbreak and lead me out gently to the happily ever after on the other side. Brittainy Cherry is one of those authors.

Starlet and Milo's story is heartbreaking in many ways, but heart healing in even more ways. From the moment they meet, you can feel they are meant to be together. And watching them navigate their shared grief experiences of losing their mothers as well as the all too harsh reality of just living life and trying to find joy amid the tragedies that come was so beautiful.

I also really loved how well Brittainy balanced the forbidden elements of a student teacher romance with the deep emotional aspect. Nothing in this book felt added in purely for shock or taboo. It all felt so organic to the story and their love.

I loved their romance, I loved their characters, I loved everything about this book, and it's definitely a favorite of the year.

I am of the opinion that romances that deal with heavy themes and are handled with care are the very best romances. Because we walk through shadows knowing an HEA is coming. No other genre does that. And it was done beautifully here.

Brittainy knocked it out of the park with this one.

I received an ARC for review.

If I had to sum up this story using only one word, it would be Beautiful. Through the heartbreak and the sadness, we were able to see the beauty in something despite the pain.

Starlet has always been the good girl and she knows exactly what she wants. Vision board and all. When her carefully crafted plans suddenly goes up in flames, she decides to throw caution to the wind for one night and give in to something wrong for one night. But that one night stand quickly turns into the surprise of a lifetime when she sees him in a different setting.

3-12

For the past year, Milo has been drowning himself in everything and he has no plans of slowing down. Call it reckless or trying to avoid something that is painfully deep and no amount of trying to numb it is going to help him heal. But for one night, someone changed that for him and whether he likes it or not, life from here on out will never be the same.

I had this idea in my head of how this story was going to play out and I was completely wrong about nearly everything!! Both characters had their fair share of suffering and heartbreak even though at the beginning I truly questioned if they were right for each other, that quickly went away. I saw it in the little things, the nervous looks, the timid smiles and their love for having love.

If you're familiar with this author then you know that she's going to give you all the feels for this story. You're going to be angry at times, you're going to hurt and you're going to walk away knowing that you've read a story that's touched your heart.

“Can I tell you a secret?”

“Yes,” she softly said, her warm breaths melting against my skin.

“I already miss you, and you’re still here.”

She inched in closer, pressing her body against mine, resting her head against my chest. “Can I tell you a secret?”

“Yes.”

“I missed you before I knew you existed.”

anigifat

I was not emotionally or mentally prepared for the onslaught of feels that The Coldest Winter led me on. What started off as an expectant forbidden affair between teacher and student transpired into something so much more impactful and heart-wrenching that I didn't think that the romance aspect of the novel would outweigh the level of grief and character development that had to be achieved in order for the main characters to reach a meaningful relationship.

After a very disastrous rude awakening at the hands of her supposed-boyfriend on the eve of her twenty-first birthday, Starlet attends a frat party with her best friend, Whitney, in the hopes of drowning her misery and escaping her cruel reality at the hands of a quick and hot one night stand - and she gets it! Boy, does she get it! - at the hands of one very delectable, very desirable, very dirty-mouthed dick of a man. 🫣🫣

“Do you want to forget?”

Butterflies fluttered in my stomach. “Forget what?”

He moved in closer, his mouth landing near the edge of my earlobe. His hot breaths melted against my chilled skin as he whispered, “Everything.”

But, it's only one night - they only have one night - with no names, no future, no background info, no prospect of ever crossing paths again. But, on her first day at her new high school teaching assistant position, she sees the person she least expected ever to find - Milo, the man who gave her the night of the most intense pleasure she's ever had. 🥰 🥰

This was such a beautiful and emotional read - I enjoyed seeing how Star and Milo interacted each other - how he relentlessly teased her about their first meeting, how they slowly grew comfortable around each other, how she encouraged him to find a future for himself, how he gently pushed her boundaries to allow her to feel something more than just the pressures of life - how they first danced their fleeting chase of desire, before yielding it.

“So many quiet sins were begging to be unleashed.

“Secret friends do whatever they want, and the world would never know.”

The subtle intimate moments of their friendship - the sly yet shy flirtation glances and signs - how they first shied from it, setting up the boundaries, resisting it, but realizing that what they had was more than just a forbidden affair. 🩵🩵 That they were bonded over their shared bouts of loss - how 'His looked like they were hurting as much as my heart. You noticed that in people when you were hurting yourself—how their pain mirrored your own.' That it ran deeper than just that one heated moment that was forever ingrained in their hearts.

“You’re never going to stop bringing up the night we hooked up, are you?”

“No, probably not. I like the way it makes you bashful.”

“I hate you.”

“Good,” he said, shoving his stuff into his backpack. “It means you still know how to feel.”

And the sex scenes were HAWT~! ❤️‍🔥 Their first meeting alone had me holding my breath, every instance after was fueled by fierce passion and flaming desire from either sides - Milo wasn't hesitant in being vocal in his primal claim over Star - that filthy dirty talk of his had me swooning. 🫠🫠 And Star couldn't resist the attraction she had for him, no matter how many times her mind warred with her that it was wrong. How could she refuse him - the man who brought her weak to her knees, the man who could see right into her soul? How could he resist the one person who understood him better than anyone - who 'felt like the sunrise. Bright, vibrant, and awe-inspiring with such mind-blowingly satisfying warmth.'

“We were make-believing in a time and place that was solely for us. I, for one, was not ready to wake from our enthralling fantasy. There was only one thing I craved at that time —more, more, more.

But, as much as it is about their forbidden affair, their lust-driven desire to be with each other, damn it all to principle and rules, this story is also fundamentally about grief. About moving on from it, to find a way to come to terms with the reality of it - in a healthy way - otherwise, it's going to envelop you. Drown you in your sorrows - not allow you to move on - not give you the chance to breathe - to cling to the ghosts of the past - to anchor yourself to the memories rather than making new memories. 🥺🥺 And that's what Milo and Star realized when they were together - that if they didn't let it go off the past, their shared sadness - it wouldn't give them the chance to spread their wings and grow.

“His looked like they were hurting as much as my heart. You noticed that in people when you were hurting yourself—how their pain mirrored your own.”

Starlet and Milo each had their own burdens - their own shadows haunting them that they had to shed in order to move forward. One night fated their stars to each other - one tutor session developed their feelings for each other - one tragic moment destined them for each other. I didn't expect that tug to happen - that Milo, apart from still not being able to move on from the death of his mother, would have to face something even more tragic, something even more life-altering. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

It wasn't enough that he had to witness his father succumb to the loss of his dear wife and find a way to help him, but to shoulder his own pain - a future he couldn't fight or hide - to reach out and realize he had to make something of himself, before it was too late. If Star hadn't appeared when she did - if she hadn't come into his life at the tipping point of his pain - how he was drowning his pain by whoring himself out -

“Grief was a complex creature. One day, you were sad, and the next day filled you with rage. On rare occasions, you’d be both. So aggressively angry, so depressingly sad...

That was the thing about grief—it didn’t discriminate. It simply made everyone drown.”

The writing was wonderful - Ms.Cherry's prose gripped your heartstrings fiercely and subtly - with the ache of having both protagonists reaching their future happiness together. 💕💕 I appreciated that it was told in dual POV - how we were able to see both their perspectives for each situation - how their challenges were faced in a believable fashion - how their relationship took a realistic trajectory, that culminated in a beautiful heartfelt moment that made their struggles and achievements all that more rewarding. ✨✨

A top read of 2023!

Milo and Starlet! I loved this book so much. While their relationship was forbidden, they came right on time into each other’s lives. Milo and Starlet are both dealing with grief. The only difference is how their grief has manifested in their lives. For anyone who has experienced grief in any fashion, this book dealt with the emotions and thoughts perfectly. I teared up several times because I 1000% related to their journeys.

I can’t say much without spoiling! If you love forbidden romances...of the student/teacher variety...you will love The Coldest Winter! The author was clever in how she developed the story from the very beginning, letting the roots of their romance grow around your heart as the story goes on. Milo and Starlet’s connection was rooted in being kindred souls who had found home with each other.

And that bonus scene?! I could read about this couple forever. Such a beautiful romance!

TROPES: grumpy/sunshine; he falls first; forbidden (student/teacher); forced proximity; hero/heroine with emotional trauma; mental health rep; slow burn; emotional read

3.5/5 ⭐️

- This was such an emotional book and I love how the beginning of the book just jumped right into the story. There’s just something so entertaining about brittainy cherry’s writing because she always has some other subplot that moves the story along outside of the romance which I really enjoy.
- I love that this showed two characters handling grief in two totally different ways. I think it was such a great representation of how as humans we all experience life so differently and I really enjoyed both perspectives.
- The ending of the book seemed to move slowly and I think it’s because the forbidden side of their romance didn’t really have any tension.

3.5 ⭐️ i was so excited for this book and it had its very good, beautiful aspects. the beginning had me HOOKED but the more i read, the less i was able to connect with the characters. their chemistry just wasn’t there for me.

i loved their friendship so much but that’s mostly all i saw. also how can SO MANY BAD THINGS HAPPEN ALL IN ONE BOOK??? help??

overall, it was good. it just wasn’t everything i wanted it to be.

6 stars ✨ for this masterpiece!!

“He felt like heaven intermixing with hell, like a fallen angel who could still somehow soar.”

Books like this is why I’m a romance reader. Thank you Brittainy Cherry for giving your readers this amazing gift that is Milo & Star. My heart will recover, I know it will, but right now it’s so sore with the love that I have for this epic love story. This is unlike any other book I’ve read and somehow Brittainy raised her own bar and yet gave me old school vibes as well. Her writing is IMPECCABLE. This is why she is a top top fave author of mine and this is easily a top of the year for me.

This book came out of the depths of something we will never know, but it’s impact is so evident and attests to that depth. This was sooo steamy, sweet and so damn emotional. It’s forbidden, but unlike any I’ve read. It was not cliche or predictable at all. The emotions pack a 1-2-3 punch that’ll leave you with a dizzy headiness that makes you have to pause between chapters at times because the feelings are just so much! This is grumpy/sunshine with a twist. This is my most favorite BC book ever!! I will never get over this book.

“Her soft words shot straight through my hard exterior and landed against my soul.” This is what Brittainy does to me with her words.

okay, i’m confused. when i learned about this book a year ago, the story was about a soldier coming back home to learn his best friend is getting married to the wrong one as the author posted on her instagram… color me surprised when i got to chapter 3 here and realized this is nowhere near the story i thought it’d be. it’s now a student/teacher romance… maybe the author rewrote the story but kept the title and cover, i have no idea. i have nothing to say about this story honestly. it was okay… the usual brittainy c cherry font.
i feel like i was robbed by getting this story instead of the original one.

Aaaaanddd cue the waterworks y'all. Gosh, this book was so fucking beautiful. Raw and unbelievably real. I'd heard a lot of good things about Brittainy Cherry's books and I'm so glad that I finally took the leap. The Coldest Winter made me swoon, cry and blush all at the same time. Milo and Starlet's story was of finding love despite your mind being your greatest enemy. Star and Milo were the purest souls ever and I enjoyed every single second I spent reading about them. This book was full of angst and feels with a touch of forbidden. I absolutely adored Brittainy's writing style and I most definitely look forward to reading more of her work💕

*Thank you to Valentine PR and Brittainy Cherry for providing me with an ARC🤎

This book did not evoke any emotion from me which I believe was what the author was going for considering how they kept piling woes upon woes on the MMC. I was not buying into that pity party.

I feel like the only reason the FMC was black(biracial specifically) was to check a box. Other than her not liking her wild curly hair & having a golden skin (insert eye rolling emoji) we got nothing about her blackness. I mean this a girl whose mother died young and was raised by a single black father…come on!

And let’s not forget how cringey it was that the FMC kept referring to the MMC as a “man”. He’s a teenage high schooler for christs sake. Who are trying to deceive? Lol

"One day, I'm going to love you out loud, and it will be the best day of my life."

2.5 stars ⭐️⭐️🌟

Recently I seem to have been reading books that everyone loved but me 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 Don't get me wrong, this book is truly the sweetest I have read in a while. Milo had a tough and mean exterior but was secretly a true romantic waiting for someone to come along and unlock his ability to love. Some of his thoughts about Starlet made me wish I had a man like that in my life.

I'd never made love before her, and I knew I'd never do it with another soul. Love was something so new to me. I didn't expect her love to travel to so many areas of my world. Her love lived within the small moments. The quiet ones. The gentle easing of harsh storms. It was in her soft embraces and slow kisses. It lay upon my skin pressed against hers. It was the indulgent caresses of our souls. It was in her eyes, and I knew it was in mine.

One of the tropes in this book involves the H suffering from mental illness and the h being his anchor/light in the darkness. I thought it was much more well done here than in other books (for example, Archer's Voice). At least there wasn't instalove which didn't make sense. Here, I could at least root for the romance between Milo and Starlet – I appreciated that there was a large focus on them carving out individual identities beyond their relationship with each other. The story also grapples with difficult questions about discovering one's self-identity so it's not a typical romance book imo.

My only gripe is the third act breakup 🙄 While the third act breakup is a common problem in romance books, their lack of communication was glaringly obvious here!! I swear at that point I was so frustrated because the entire fight could literally have been avoided if only Milo and Starlet had communicated with each other.

But in the end, I didn't rate this very highly because I couldn't really connect with the characters for some reason. Everyone was raving about how this book would make me cry/get emotional but it just felt pretty average and forgettable to me. It could be the emotional ordeals I'm currently going through, or it could be that the book read slightly awkwardly at times like a YA book, or it could be that the pacing was not to my liking, or maybe the characters just weren't likeable enough. Either way, I didn't love the characters or their romance, so this one was overall a miss for me.

I was destined to love Starlet Evans, and she was destined to love me back. We were written in the stars - or more so, the sunrises.

lemme just start with its a really good book despite my rating, i know probs everyone loves this book but ugh i just didn't connect, maybe this shouldn't have been the first BCC book to read but whats done is done :)

the characters, the story and the QUOTES!!! to die for but you know? when you read all that and just sit there with a blank face not feeling anything even though everything is so nice? ya thats what i felt.

idk if its the writing bc i felt like i was just reading words on a screen or im just not in the mood today for this kind of book, even tho i finished it surprisingly. im more disappointed bc i wanted to like it but i just didnt.

**ARC provided in exchange for an honest review**

The Coldest Winter is a heart-wrenching new adult novel that explores the forbidden romance between Starlet and Milo. The story begins with a chance encounter at a frat party, where the two indulge in a one-night stand. Later, they meet again in high school, where Milo is a senior and Starlet is his student teacher and tutor. Despite their age difference and the societal taboo of their relationship, they are drawn to each other and help each other heal from their respective traumas.

“She was the warm summer nights to my cold winter days. She was my person.”

The author, Brittainy Cherry, handles the forbidden aspect of the relationship with sensitivity and care, making the reader root for Starlet and Milo's love to triumph over the obstacles they face. While some elements of the story may come across as cliché, the emotional depth of the characters and their journey is compelling.

As someone who is not typically drawn to new adult romance, I found myself thoroughly enjoying this book. Cherry's writing is poignant and evocative, eliciting genuine emotions from the reader. The story is touching and at times heart-wrenching, with several scenes that left me teary-eyed.

“I liked how he reminded me of a roller coaster—terrifying yet thrilling and worth the price of admission.”

Overall, The Coldest Winter is a beautifully written and emotionally charged novel that will leave readers rooting for Starlet and Milo's love story to prevail. It's a testament to Brittainy Cherry's talent as a writer and is highly recommended for fans of the genre.

4 Stars!
(ARC provided by author)

Starlet Evans is a college student that has always been a rule following good girl. She's smart, quirky and doesn't stray from her path. Then she attends a college party that changes her life when she meets a gorgeous, intense, broody bad boy. For one night she wants to be spontaneous, have some fun, and forget her heavy heart. She feels things deeply, but when she looks into his eyes his pain almost mirrored her own. She felt drawn to this stranger and felt a connection she couldn't explain. It was one night and she'd never see him again. Then she arrives for her first day as a student teacher and see's the face of the guy she hasn't been able to forget. She needs to remain professional and push aside her inappropriate thoughts before too many lines have been crossed and she risks jeopardizing her career.

Milo Corti has been struggling to get by since tragedy touched his life. He felt like he was constantly drowning in darkness, and wanted to do anything to disappear and escape the hurt. He was guarded, self destructive and closed off. Then he crosses paths with the only person that's made him feel again. She comes into his life when he needs someone the most. The only problem is she's off limits. In the end are they meant to be, or destined to be one huge disaster?

The Coldest Winter by Brittainy C. Cherry is an emotional, swoony, steamy, opposites attract, guy falls first, grumpy/sunshine, student/teacher, forbidden romance about friendship, family, loss, healing, heartbreak, hope, fate, destiny and finding your person. It's full of fabulous banter, beautiful connections and all the feels! <333

The Coldest Winter is easily one of my favorite books I've read this year. This story is for the angst lovers and for the people that like there romances forbidden with a touch of heartbreak. However, it is more than that. This is a story about two people who find their other half when they least expect it.

We follow Milo and Starlet have a hot and steam one night stand. For Milo this is just how's he's coping with life right now, but Starlet does not do one night stands. After she finds her boyfriend cheating on her on her birthday she decided to let loose for a night. A one night with a stranger and they'd never see each other again. Except they do and these two cannot be together.

As these two spend a lot of time together (yes we have some forced proximity goodness and even a one bed situation) these two are completely drawn to each other. Milo, has experienced a great loss and he's drowning in it. Starlet can relate to this and they form an unbreakable bond.

This is a beautiful yet heartbreaking story about healing, finding light in the midst of darkness, and love in all its forms. Brittany Cherry's writing is absolutely stunning in this novel. She balanced everything so nicely. She takes you through it but you trust her throughout the process. Words cannot do justice how much I loved this story. It was simply an epic romance filled with heartbreak, tragedy, and passionate love. You are going to fall in love with Milo and Star's story. It's truly an soulmate kind of love. I felt all the emotions with this book, but the main one is healing.

I truly cannot recommend this book enough. You just have to read it to understand how amazing it is.

This is a 6 star read. I would give it all the stars if I could.

Thank you so much to Brittany Cherry for sending me an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review

Forbidden Love
Grumpy/Sunshine
Teacher/Student

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Type: Standalone
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Starlet Evans had her life mapped out down to the T. The one night she decided to break free led her to Milo Corti, not realizing how it could change the trajectory of their lives.

I loved Milo with his selflessness, and I wanted to wrap him in a bubble after everything he went through. I like Starlet’s positivity, but I wish she thinks for herself more.

How many heartbreaks could a heart have before it gave up on beating?

As usual, the author managed to bring out the emotions. Though personally, I felt things were too easy and convenient for the characters, I still enjoyed the overall story.

The Coldest Winter is a story of persevering and adapting. It would appeal to readers who enjoy an emotional forbidden romance.

Starlet + Milo

Starlet had her life all planned out since she was 14 years old.
But her cheating idiot of a boyfriend just put a stop to everything. And on her 21st birthday no less. She was expecting a proposal and not to stand around a frat party trying to drink and flirt with a stranger - like her bestie told her to do.
Enter Milo. He seems to be in a similar mood. And they bicker their way into bed that night.
And of course she's his tutor the next day in her new job as a student teacher.
They try to be just friends until graduation - but ....

Well. I loved parts of it. But I also hated most of it. So sorry Brittainy.
I just can't handle books with sick people. And I don't care if it's cancer, depression, Parkinsons ... - any and all diseases! Get out of my romances!
It seems like most people in books (and real life) are depressed these days. I could live with that in a book - I don't need it, but okay - it is what it is. But wouldn't it be healthier for real-life depressed people to read about healthy people? But what do I know.
But then... here we get teased very early on with what will happen and I immediately said to my kindle: If that's happening I'm done!
I kept on reading and finished it, but I hated that thing.
I also hated other parts. She's 21 and he's 19. Nothing about anything here is illegal ... she could've just asked for another class or another student to tutor. That would've made everything unproblematic. But we obviously need drama in our books. (I don't!)
This was not my day, not my book, not my trope(s).
I'm so sorry!! Brittainy is not at fault here at all. (Even though I did have my problems with some of the writing/grammar/tenses too!)
I just couldn't love this like I wanted to.
I think we could've put both of them into college and the story would've been just as great. We could've gotten drama from somewhere else. I don't like student-teacher things. Even though there was nothing illegal about it this time. No creepy pedo moments or anything like in other books.
There were lots of cute moments, funny ones (Tom!), very heartbreaking ones.
It wasn't all bad! Don't let me scare you too far away with my complaining! I really liked the cast - Tom and the uncle were great.
It's a great romance for readers who love student/teacher and heartbreaking sickness things. (Nobody dies! The mothers are already dead though!)

Oh and while I'm at it with all the complaining... LOL!
I hated Starlet's dad job - I hate tattoos!
I hate-hate-hated her musical taste! BTS? 🤮
And his musical taste was just as bad - smooth Jazz. Ew.
Their 'secret' dreams? It makes no sense. Why even mention his mom's recipes in the prologue! He should want to become a chef! Or she should. That would've been such a sweet idea - them opening a restaurant. But nope.
Sorry - really - I love Brittainy and her stories - but that was so not my book. And I hate myself a tiny bit for that - because Brittainy loves this story and the people so much! 😢

THE COLDEST WINTER was another beautiful Brittainy Cherry love story. Sweet. Heartbreaking. Funny. Sad. Adorable. Run to your nearest book dealer for your own Milo - he'll be sold out in no time!

What Happened to Brittainy Cherry

Where is the author who wrote two of my all time favorite books "Loving Mr Daniels " and "The Gravity of Us"? This can't be the same person. Her books now suck. Sorry folks, but they do. Did she have a ghost writer? I have dnf/returned her books in recent years. I'm confused. This is not the author who wrote aforementioned books. Its not possible. There is no way someone can go from that to this.
