I'm not normally one for New Adult, but I have to admit that I really loved this book. I tend to stick close to the Young Adult genre, but after reading the Under the Never Sky series by Veronica Rossi I decided long ago that I would read anything she writes. So naturally I stalked her at the book launch in Tampa, Florida and got my copy signed the day it released. [Pats self on back!]
We meet Mia and Ethan after a special one night stand. After waking up and realizing that they are both late for a new job in the same area. They decide to share a cab to save time and money. When the cab arrives they realize that they are starting their first day at the same job. How awkward right? The opening scene was definitely a great intro to the story and gave us a feel for Mia and Ethan as characters.
Overall Mia and Ethan were both really fun and likeable. I loved how easy their banter was and how sarcastic they both were with each other. It made them both really fun to read. I especially loved the chemistry between them which was obvious from the first page to the last page. The little bouts of jealousy they both had over the others dates with potential Boomerang clients was especially fun to read. They really were just perfect together and so cute to watch the relationship bloom.
Lorin and Veronica both did great jobs with the character building for each chapter. I definitely love these two working together and can't wait to read the rest of the series with them....more

First off, I did not like the second person POV. I didn't. I. Just. Didn't. It was just so hard to get into reading. My thought is that the author wanted to give the reader the feeling of actually being in the story, but that is definitely not the feeling I got while reading. Frustration. Frustration is the feeling that I got while reading this book. And yea, at some point I got over it and was able to really enjoy the story, but that annoyed feeling kept creeping up on me,
Second, I was very disappointed with the ending of the book. I had to remind myself that this series is a duology and not a stand alone. There were a few minutes of tantruming at the slight cliff hanger and then just pure hatred at the shocking plot twist that left me feeling completely unsatisfied. Of course, after the initial shock of everything, and much time spent mulling over it, I realized that I actually enjoyed the book way more than I thought I would. I also realized that the sequel is probably going to piss me off...and I just may love it! Hey what can I say, i'm an optimist!
But all sass aside, I really enjoyed the premise of the story. Going through this journey with Sunny (MC) was really interesting. I mean, can you imagine what it must feel like to wake up in the middle of a train track with an oncoming train and only seconds to react. Then, on top of that, you have NO IDEA who you are and you spend all this time trying to simultaneously stay alive while piecing the puzzle back together! Ummm, yea that just doesn't work for me! And as time goes by memories and realizations start to sink in and it's just completely crazy! So i'm happy that Sunny's (not her real name, she doesn't know who she is remember!?) story isn't over just yet. I feel like there's so much more that we need to figure out....and I feel like we need to do it together! So yea, even though it took a bit to get into, it still hooked me!...more
Let's Get Lost is a contemporary novel about four strangers that meet one girl in the most random circumstances. Original review posted on Lexi Swoons
Let's Get Lost is a contemporary novel about four strangers that meet one girl in the most random circumstances. Each sharing their own story with the girl that changed their lives.
Leila is the main character in this novel with five short stories detailing each encounter. Hudson, Bree, Sonia, and Elliott don't know each other and they definitely don't know what they are getting themselves into when they meet Leila, but they take a chance on her and trust her without really knowing her. In away, she does the same to them. I love how these random encounters turn into so much more. We don't know this in the beginning, but Leila needs these relationships just as much as they need her. She's looking for something throughout her journey and somewhere along the way she finds what she needed without really knowing it. They save her in the same way that she saves them. During Leila's chapters you get to really know her and what you learn is slightly shocking and sad, but seeing her persevere and continue on is beautiful and refreshing.
It's such a feel good story. The author really gets into his characters minds and creates relationships that seem genuine and heartfelt. If you're in the mood for a feel good story, you MUST read this!...more

I have to say that Landline was totally different than what I expected it to be. It has a bit of a paranormal vibe going for it which threw me off a little in the beginning but I absolutely loved it! Then there is the awesomeness that is Georgie McCool. I mean seriously, Georgie McCool? How epic is that name!? But the real ringer is the story line. Rainbow Rowell is so creatively talented in her writing. She manages to always give a realistic vibe to her characters and plot which makes the reader really feel for the character. Plus, it really was just about the cutest thing ever.
Georgie McCool (it's growing on you, right?) and her husband, Neal, are having marital problems. When she tells Neal that she won't be going to his family home for Christmas because she has to work, things take a turn for the worst. Rainbow does such a wonderful job at showcasing their relationship. The dating to the marriage and all the in between things that have led to their current unhappiness. Georgie learned a valuable lesson by the end of the book and I loved seeing her grow as a character throughout the story. I Also loved seeing Neal during their dating period and how absolutely swoony he was. But of course, seeing the future unfold and seeing how certain things came to be makes this book that much better.
"Fitting together is something you work at. It's something you make happen-because you love each other."
This quote perfectly resonates with life. Definitely makes me want to read it all over again! Hope you find as much joy in it as I did :)...more

Helen Colin does a beautiful job at sharing her story of survival with readers. Of course we all know that it's such a sad story, as they all are, but Helen does such a great job at showing us her happy memories before the war and after the war. My heart has always held a special place for all Holocaust related stories ever since childhood. I can remember the first time I learned about the Holocaust and the effect it had on me. To this day, it is the only piece of history that I have ever truly cared about.
I truly admire Helen for the inspiration she gives people just by being near them. Even in her book, she chose to focus on the happiness that her freedom brought rather than linger on the pain from her past, all while still sharing her message of hope, peace and respect.
I was lucky enough to have met Helen at her book signing in Houston, Texas, her hometown, in November 2013. Meeting her was such a wonderful experience that I know I will always cherish. Her words and message were inspiring in ways that one could never truly understand until you meet her, or other survivors like her. This book is truly one of my most prized possessions.
