Grabbed this one as a hoopla bonus borrow, but soon found out it wasn't for me.
Richard is a filmmaker that is trying to cast a roll for Walter Benjamin, the German Jewish intellectual who killed himself in northern Spain while on the run from the Nazis in 1940.
A young man auditions and after hanging out a few times it seems like he might be attracted to him, which is taking him by surprise because he's married and quite a bit older than him. And that's all I have to offer because this was not grabbing me at all.
Narration notes: Clive wasn't awful to listen to. I guess I didn't listen long enough because I never heard Mia narrate.
I was not jiving with this one at all. Slow moving with too many celebrity name drops and flashbacks.
I want to mention there iDNF @ 41% so no rating.

I want to mention there is an animal death. While I hated it I do feel like it was kind of warranted (view spoiler)[ a dog was attacking a child and the mother and grandfather were beating the dog to get him off of her, and then the owner shot the dog (hide spoiler)], but wanted to give fellow animal lovers a heads up....more

DNF at 15% ~ 1 hour and 3 minutes because I already know I am not going to be feeling this author's writing style after this ⤵
"He always leaned in a little too close for Peter's liking, fumigating him in excessive minty breathe odor."
Ummmm, what? Thanks Hoopla for the free opportunity, but nah, I'm all set. The kindle book is currently $15.58, I'll say it again, ummmm, what?
Narration notes: Eh, wasn't thrilled from the little bit I heard.

Heather & Jett She's a sweet, starving screenwriter and he's a rock god that gets all the groupies, sometimes more than one at a time.
*spoilers ahead*
I'm always thrilled when the main character has my name, so I wanted to give this one a good try and I think close to halfway is a good try. I got past the 2 ladies who like to have a whole room watch them se*ing it up just for attention. I got past Heather's bff Susie asking her to make out with her just to get noticed by the band. I got past Jett calling everyone sweetheart ...more

If that's any indication of what the steamage is going to be like then I'm out, thank you, but no thank you.
I might as well leave the bare bones notes I already took in case you're interested.

It wasn't grabbing me then and since so much time has went by I'd have to start all over and I just wasn't that interested the first time around, so I don't gather I would be the 2nd time.
There is so much love/hype for it: Amazon ~ 4.6⭐ Amazon Charts, Best Seller, Editors' pick Goodreads ~ 4.32⭐ Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for Best Historical Fiction (2022), Winner for Best Debut Novel (2022)
Here's some bare bones notes I had already taken that will probably not help you decide to read it or not.
