Felicity & James meet when he shows up, dressed as a penguin, at the animal rescue she works at with a sick kitten on Christmas Eve.
It determined that they both are not fans of Christmas and have a soft spot for animals, so they have a sort of comradery in those respects. However, I never really felt the connection between them. Perhaps because ex's are brought into the picture and took up way too much page time. I'm fine with an ex showing up, but just briefly enough to get kicked to the curb again.
Overall, I liked this well enough for a debut, but there was just too much ex-partner drama for me. I did like her writing style, just not this particular plot, so I would give this author a go again.
Narration notes: She did fine, but it was so slow sounding at 3x that I wish there was a higher option.

Daphne & Tristan Daphne's dream is to open up her own bakery, but in the meantime while she gets enough cash she puts up a pop up bakery in an office building in November and December.
A certain someone, aka "Grinchy Grincherson", is not too thrilled that his building hosts these pop ups every year. They are just so tacky, especially the one that looks like a gingerbread house. But when he needs a caterer for some holiday parties last minute he has no choice but to ask Daphne to help. And then he's asking her for more help when his mom assumes they are together, so she pretends to be his girlfriend.
The grump/sunshine and enemies tropes were well done. I almost thought I was never going to warm up to Tristan, but he eventually won me over. Daphne is full on sunshine all the time, but when she's upset she's not afraid to show it. The support of her parents was phenomenal.
Overall, a cute, festive read that'll satisfy your sweet tooth if you have one, if not then you might just develop one. This totally gives Hallmarky vibes.
Narration notes: Another dual POV with only one narrator, grrr. I’ve listened to many of Samantha’s books, so I just know it's how it always is, but this was someone new. Overall, she did fine, but I wasn’t overly in love with her voice.

Annie & Braden work at the same department store. He’s a security guard and she designs the front window (how fun!). They never really met until they meet over and over and over again for a Christmas Eve do-over 12 times.
Each day is slightly different, but mostly the same things keep happening and Annie needs to figure out how to tweak things in order to get out of the time loop. 12 times is a lot y’all and felt like way too many with all the repetitiveness. I do like the thought behind it being 12 days of Christmas, but again just felt way to long to me.
Overall, there were some cute moments. I liked Christmas Day once we finally got there and the little twist that happened. It has full on Christmasy vibes, even with some Santa magic to put a smile on your face.
Narration notes: While she did do a good job this would really have benefited with a male narrator since it’s dual POV. It's possible I would have enjoyed this more had I read and not listened.

Trey & Marley meet when she drags him from his overturned vehicle. When he wakes up he’s on a mission to find the woman that saved his life. He gets the media involved and it’s deemed a Cinderella story since he only has the shoe she left at the scene to identify her.
Everything moves quickly when he finds her. I don’t love instalove, but I do believe in when you know you know. I liked them both together and separately. She has a take no crap attitude and he was so sweet with a secret career that he’s kept hidden for years. Love the found family she has and hated the awful relationship he has with his.
Overall, an enjoyable Christmas Time Hallmarky Cinderella~ish story.

Every year Eliza, husband, Jacob, and teenagers, Bella & Bobby, spend Christmas with her widowed mother. But this year Jacob decides for the family they are going to his brother and sister in law, Edward and Dymond’s, house. Only Jacob is excited to make the 5 hours trip there.
Eliza narrates a relatable tale to those midlife moms/wives who don’t necessarily feel appreciated. She works full time, keeps the house running and makes time for her aging and demanding mother. Always fun to add perimenopause to the mix to add a little extra oomph to day to day life. Edward says something that sets her off and that night she’s visited by 3 spirits.
The Ghost of Christmas Past, Fran, her great grandmother, brings her back to early on in her marriage, pre kids, when life was simpler and they were so in love.
“It’s not all sunshine and roses,” Fran said. “The balance of happy and sad, easy and difficult, is what makes a life memorable.” Are you living your best life??
The Ghost of Christmas Present has her listening in on conversations going on in the house. Things are brought to light that makes her think things are not always as they seem.
The Ghost of Christmas Future provides a shocking look at what’s to come.
The author gives us 3 possible routes Eliza life will take, leaving it up to the reader to decide which is the best path. Overall, a quick, enjoyable read. I think it would be fun to be visited by spirits myself. Would you want to know what’s in your future?

Bella (36) and Jack (40) meet when she pretends to be his girlfriend at his ex-girlfriend's wedding. They have a great night together, but then Bella has to leave for a family emergency. Since they don’t live in the same town it’s not likely they’ll see each other again…or is it?
Bella moves from London to the quaint small town of Haileybrook for a job at a retirement home. Surprisingly Jack started working there just recently. It doesn’t seem like it’s fate though when Jack isn't too thrilled to see her.
It’s festive, but it’s not overly Christmasy. No gift giving, just decorations, mince pies and gingerbread house making. Perhaps a mistletoe or two. I’d definitely put this in the category of a Hallmark style movie, even though I never watch them. There’s a small mystery to solve and a smidgen of romance. There are a good mix of lovable and crazy characters to keep it interesting. I’m happy to know some of them (the good ones) already have their own book, so I’ll have to be sure to check them out.
Overall, a quick, easy and descriptive read. While the romance is not the main focus of the story you can’t help but fall in love with both Bella and Jack and root for their happily ever after.
Side note ~ this is marketed as a cozy Christmas romance, but the romance is super light, so I’m going with just cozy Christmas fiction

Sienna is fresh off a divorce when her bff put an ad in the paper as a joke that she's looking for a husband for hire. Never expecting anyone to respond she's shocked when Guy shows up for an interview. You see Guy's 4 year old daughter, Emma, is in kidney failure and he needs insurance to take care of her. She can't possibly help this man, can she? After thinking about it some Sienna proposes a marriage of convenience. Guy gladly accepts and they're married in less than 24 hours of meeting each other. And I gotta say I don’t hate a marriage of convenience when it’s to try to save a baby’s life.
As you can imagine we get an emotional journey as we follow the difficulties that Emma faces while she waits for a kidney transplant, Guy as a father that is doing the best he can for his daughter, and Sienna as she slowly falls in love with both of them. Sienna's father has dementia, so that brings out some heart wrenching moments as well.
Overall, a heartwarming story with characters you can't help but fall in love with and root for.
Narration notes: I thought she did a great job. She really gave Guy a somber tone, which worked well for everything this character is facing day to day.

Rachel and Grandpa Eric are house and dog sitting for her sister, Maddie and brother in law, Frank. They’re in a posh town, but it’s a small town where hardly anyone likes The Baxters. I don’t blame the town one bit after meeting him.
Humphrey the dog is quite mischievous, but also a do-gooder. At first I was like can’t they get a handle on this dog and keep him from running away, but then when he’s helpful all my thoughts on that go out the window.
The romance between Rachel and Ben is a slow burn and doesn’t happen until much later in the book. They didn’t get off on the right foot, but eventually they grew to care for each other. I loved the ‘link’ that brought them together.
I didn't particularly care for Rachel all the much, or her mother and aunts for that matter. Actually there's a whole crew of unlikable characters, with only a handful of nice ones.
This is more about Rachel's journey of figuring her life out after losing her BFF and her job, and spending time with grandpa (my favorite part). Grandpa was great and I loved their bond. Always up for an adventure and just trying to live out the rest of his life how he wants.
Overall, there were some heartwarming moments amidst the chaos in this snowy Christmasy read.
Narration notes: She did fine. She differentiated her voices well for an array of characters.

Full of Christmas magic with nutcrackers and snow globes galore.
Franca owns The Nutcracker Shop and Raff owns Love Is All A-round snowglobe shop. They are rivals and both at risk of losing their shop after the Christmas season rush.
I gotta say I had a bad taste in my mouth at the start of this one because I didn’t like the whole concept of forcing someone to kiss someone else for a photo op. However, all turns out okay…well not okay since Franca broke 3 fingers in a fall. Yikes! How will she make nutcrackers at the most demanding time of the year? With a little help from her rival, Raff, that's how.
I enjoyed the slow burn of them getting to know each other and seeing someone for who they truly are. Raff is really sweet and his family is the absolute best, which is not something Franca is used to and the reason behind her original animosity. She actually took me a little longer to warm up to then he did.
Overall, I’m not a big Christmas person, but I wouldn’t mind strolling Ever After Street to visit all the quaint shops and meeting the lovely people that own them. Looking forward to the next installment in the series.
Series notes: The characters from the other books do make appearances, but I think this would be fine as a standalone.
Narration notes: I did not listen to this one, but am just giving the info above for reference.

Olive (25) and Miles work together at a high school in New York. They didn't get off on the right foot when he started teaching there, so she considers him an enemy of sorts. I didn't really get much enemy vibes to be honest.
Now it's time for Christmas break and Olive is off to Vermont to spend a week with her family, which includes her mother's new husband, Russ. A man she married just 8 months after Olive's father passed away after a cancer battle only last Christmas. Needless to say she's not looking forward to it. On top of that her mother invited her ex-boyfriend, Glen, who she has no interest in getting back together with. Before she can even stop herself she's telling her family she already has a boyfriend named Miles.
Guess who's parents own the resort they are staying at? You guessed it, Miles. Luckily he's down with the fake dating plan, so they have a fun filled week of doing wintery things. I felt the bitter cold Vermont air coming off the pages.
This was so adorable and fun and sweet and cute and funny. The teasing is good natured and the characters are mature and relatable AND they know how to communicate! I would totally watch this if it was made into a Hallmark movie and that's not usually my jam.
Narration notes: Justis did a great job. I have no complaints.

I am not even a super big fan of Christmas, but I totally want to visit Blitzen Bay. What an adorable sounding small town. It does take place during Christmas week, but it’s not overly Christmasy. My only gripe is that I don’t love when Christmas sounding names are in my Christmas books, ie: Noelle & Holly.
Overall, this was super adorable. A bit of slow burn, but not really. You’ll just have to read it to see what I mean.

I'm sad this is my last Christmas themed book of the year, but happy I can check another one off the kindle that's been there since December 2021. And I'm happy that I loved it so much!
Jade & Brandon Jade and sister, Amber, own Jingle Bell Reindeer Ranch. How adorable is that? It's a fairly new business that they're trying to get up and running, so they hire Brandon as their Santa. Jade remembers Brandon from high school quite well, but does he remember her and the relentless bullying she went through 13 years ago? Sometimes that stuff is hard to forget.
Brandon is not a big fan of Christmas due to something heartbreaking that happened years ago. He is not the same person he was in high school, I mean who is really? I'm not saying he was awful back then, but now he's so sweet and book boyfriend material for sure. The scenes with his father were really sweet and heartbreaking.
Their chemistry was great. I actually expected a lot more action based on the cover, but there wasn't that much steamage and that was totally fine for them. It was a bit quick on the feelings though.
There was a little mystery to solve, some funny moments and some hard hitting ones to round out this delightful Christmas season read. Adding some reindeer trivia was a nice touch. Their Christmas gifts to each other were just perfect. Definitely recommend.

Another holiday read I can check off my list that I acquired back in February 2021.
It all started with coffee for Nic & Stacy.
Stacy was super sweet and such a generous soul even though she could really use the money herself. I liked that Nic wasn't a cocky billionaire, but more of a non flashy one. I was a bit frustrated with him in the sneak peak of the next book ~ Valentine's Day Vacation ~where their story continues.
There are two great side characters, but of course it also has to have a skank that needed a good throat punch.
Overall, a quick one that took me less time to read then it did for my hub to prepare the dough for our Christmas Day sticky buns.
Side note ~ not really Christmasy, but just takes place at the holiday parties towards the end where the tree is decorated.

Saw a few of my friends review this author's Christmas books recently, so I figured I'd give this one a whirl. What a coincidence that I chose to listen to this one today while I was laying in bed with a migraine and Richard's mother was always in bed with one.
Richard tells us about the loss of his brother while in the Vietnam war, his parents divorce, bullying he endures at school and a friendship he made with the kind gentleman next door.
I can't say I was blown away as it's rather depressing, but I did enjoy hearing about his friendship with Mr. Foster, what a sad backstory he had. I was surprised when I realized this was fiction because it reads as if it's non-fiction. I might give another of his books a go someday.
Narration notes: The author did a perfectly fine job narrating.

There are only 3 days left until Christmas so I'm on a mad dash to clear my kindle of as many Christmas themed books before they have to stay on there another year. This one's been hanging around since December 2020.
Matt is a 27 year old virgin and he vows to rectify that situation by Christmas day.
The 3 prospects to help him go from blue to his normal skin color are: Tara ~ who he meets on the site FishInTheSea.com. I don't even know what to say about their encounter, just weird. Hayley ~ a good friend who might feel more for him then he does for her. Quite an ouch moment in this one. Mercedes ~ an overly festive lady of night.
Will one of these ladies help him get the deed done or will it be another blue Christmas?
My reading tastes have changed a bit since I got this, so not sure if I would have rated it differently had I read it 3 years ago. Honesty I probably got this one because of the title. There were some funny bits, but overall this was an odd one. Now I can delete it.

Found this one on Libby while looking for Christmas titles. The blurb made it seem like it'd be relatable. I do have a modern day working husband, I am a lovely wife and we have a teenager. And I know for a fact my hub would not be thrilled about a surprise visit from his in-laws during Christmas time. I mean who likes surprise visits to begin with, not me that's for sure. John's father in law is not very likable and quite rude to John, so no wonder he doesn't want him there. His mother in law is showing signs of forgetfulness.
This was just a bunch of chaos as we follow this family around. To the grocery story, to the movies, to get a tree, etc. There's frustration and yelling, but a litle kindness, too. Overall, I don't recommend it.
Narration notes: A full cast narration with side effects, background noise and singing to keep you engaged. There's even snoring when all John wants to do is take a snooze on his beloved recliner.

Working my way through Christmas books already on my kindle ~ this one's been there since January 2021.
Hollee & Tannen She is a big fan of Christmas and goes all out every year. He's not a fan at all but perhaps the new curvy hottie next door can change his mind.
I really enjoyed Hollee's relationship with her brother, Noel. Yup, Hollee and Noel...their parents really love Christmas apparently. I wonder what their names are ~ Carol and Nick? Mary and Joseph? Angel and Angelo?
Overall, this was fine and Christmasy, but I was hoping that since it's only 47 pages we wouldn't have any drama, but not the case. We've got an ex that causes drama which leads to false accusations with way too quick forgiveness, and first time 'I'm clean' no condom use...you literally met a day and a half ago. I guess it's hard to say no if his abs look anything like the cover models.

Gave Libby a peruse at 4:16 am for some Christmas audios in hopes of lulling me back to sleep. I figured I could spare 16 minutes while I stare in the dark tossing and turning with nothing better to do since I've never read it, or watched the movie for that matter, and 'tis the season.
Susan doesn't believe in Santa. She meets Kris Kringle who is adamant that he is indeed really Santa Clause. Will she and others in the city believe him?
So this was alright. Maybe I would have liked it better had I read the classic from 1945, or even watched the movie from 1947. I'm guessing this was true to the original just cut down into a children's version. Did they really take Santa to court to prove he was real? Have I missed out and really do need to watch the movie? Let me know if I need to fit it among The Polar Express, Elf and A Christmas Story this season.
Narration notes: I've listened to George many times in adult fiction and he always does a great job. This one has side effects that give the story a little extra pizzazz, which would surely be a fun listen for the kiddos, whether they believe or not.
Here's a fun fact I found on Wikipedia: The inspiration for the story, about a disillusioned woman, her skeptical daughter and a mysterious man who believes he is the real Santa Claus, came when Valentine Davies was standing in line at a big department store during the Christmas season.
