I honestly believe that A Room of One's Own is one of those books that everyone needs to experience for themselves because all I can tell you about it is that it will give you such a better idea about feminism and what it means to be a woman trying to write fiction throughout the ages. Virgina Woolf never fails to impress. I will definitely be reading more of her work in the near future. Mrs Dalloway, here I come!

This book is definitely not for everyone, but I would highly recommend it if:
➨ You like weird stories in general. ➨ You like depressing stories. ➨ You like dark humor.
The metamorphosis is all about absurdity. Gregor wakes up as a giant insect but he seems to be more upset by the fact that he’s going to be late for work because he can’t roll out of his bed. The reactions of pretty much all the other characters are absurd and unrealistic. They kind of accept the fact that Gregor is now a vermin without a lot of questioning or surprise.
The family completely alienate him after that and you can look at that as how a family of somebody with mental health issues or physical issues might react. While reading it, I kept thinking about What if Gregor was actually schizophrenic as opposed to being a vermin? Which was a very interesting way of looking at it.
Let me know if you have read this book and what you thought of it.
This book has officially made its way to my favorite classics of all time list. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book has officially made its way to my favorite classics of all time list. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Let’s discuss:
The characters:
Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde were so well crafted! Jekyll represents the “good” side of the mind and Hyde is the “evil” one. They are complete opposites (appearance, behavior, social class.) so you’d think they would absolutely loath each other but then Stevenson throws this idea that Jekyll doesn’t hate Hyde… Aghh that was GREAT! [image]
My issues:
➨ The twist of this story is actually pretty famous so I knew that (view spoiler)[Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde were actually the same person (hide spoiler)] but how I wish I didn’t. If you can go into this story not knowing anything about it, that would make it ten times better. [image]
➨I feel like reflecting the ugliness inside Hyde by his physical appearance was kind of a cliché but it didn’t bother me that much because it was relevent to the story.
The Bottle Imp:
This is a short story that was included at the end of my copy and I had absolutely no idea of what it was about before I started it. I loved it! From beginning to end the story was so engaging, you can’t possibly put it down.
If you haven’t read this short story yet, I highly recommend it. ...more

“If I cannot inspire love, I will cause fear!”
This was surprisingly one of the best classics I've read so far. A great tale about a man and a monster. The most interesting thing about it is that it makes you think about humanity, about what it means to be human and what it means to be a monster and that in order to make the distinction between the two, you have to go beyond the physical appearance.
At the end of the novel you find yourself unable to decide who was the man and who was the monster. This was a very powerful read and I would recommend it to everyone.

Yes, I'm talking about that Harry Potter book you skipped and only watched the movie, or that classic you had to read for school but just used sparknotes instead. The Lord of The Rings was that book for me. I felt like a fraud book worm until the day I finally read it.
I've been trying to write a review for this book ever since I finished it but the truth is [image]
