Mute, damaged and terrified, the name she wrote on the wall in blood was chilling. Who was Ramona? With more girls missing, Josie's determination made her side-step everything and everyone, from the Chief down. Her husband, Ray, soon to be ex-, tried to talk to her, but she was adamant in her refusal to listen to anyone, and to do her own thing, as she always did.
Would Josie find the victims before it was too late? Was she putting herself in danger, doing what she was?
Vanishing Girls is the 1st in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan and it's my second read of it. Brilliant! I loved it all over again, and didn't remember a whole lot from my first read, so it was like a brand new thriller! I love Josie's character; her strength and determination make her one great MC! Highly recommended....more

As he ignored it, and it continued to ring, Armand, along with Reine-Marie, had no idea what was ahead. With his second in command, also his son-in-law, Jean-Guy Beauvoir, and Inspector Isabelle Lacoste, by his side, Armand stepped into the mire which would terrorise them all as they tried to make sense of what was happening. Murder, secrets, lies, mysterious lists, a stolen coat, notebooks, a map - what was happening? When Armand, Jean-Guy and Isabelle came to the terrible realisation, they knew they were working against the clock. They also had no idea who they could trust...
The Grey Wolf (don't you love that cover!) is the 19th in the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series by Louise Penny and it was phenomenal! How does the author continue with her outstanding and original plots? And keep the characters fresh and heartwarming? I enjoyed reading the Acknowledgments at the end, and learning about her dedication. Also the small village of Knowlton in Québec, which is the inspiration for Three Pines. The Grey Wolf is an outstanding addition to the series, and I'm looking forward to #20 The Black Wolf coming in 2025. Highly recommended.

Mystery author Tiggy Jones was working on her latest novel from a small cottage while her boathouse was renovated, accompanied by her faithful dog Raider, a spotted Dalmador, when Tiggy received an email from a famous forensic scientist, wanting to meet with her to share some of her intriguing life, which Tiggy could use in upcoming novels. Tiggy wasn't sure, but of course her curiosity was piqued and when she met with Dr Helena Loxton, she was startled by what occurred. And that was the beginning of days and weeks of stress, tension, investigating and unfortunately, murder. Tiggy was even taken into the police station and interrogated! What was happening and why was it happening?
Join Tiggy, Baxter, Rupert and Raider in the 4th of the Tiggy Jones Mystery series by Aussie author Virginia King - you won't regret it! A Trace of DNA (a catchy title) takes us once again to a small village outside London, where Tiggy's life has been since she inherited her grandmother's boat house. Tiggy's life is full of excitement, friends like Baxter (who is certainly growing into himself) and her special dog Raider. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep the pages turning; I'm looking forward to #5 very much! Recommended.

Apparently Justin had bought the rundown old Jacobs Mere House, and with both Eve and Wendy having worked with Justin's father Lionel, they knew each other well. It was the morning after Eve and Wendy had dined with Justin, with lots of memories to catch up on, much laughter and promises to see one another again, that the grim discovery was made - Justin had been murdered.
Nikki and her partner Joseph Easter, were immediately on the scene, and with two previous suspicious deaths in the same amount of days, this one being the third, Nikki's team were stretched thin. With Eve and Wendy the last to see Justin alive, apart from his killer, Nikki decided they could quietly investigate in different areas. Their past jobs before retirement meant they had access to much - maybe even more than Nikki had. But would their combined efforts help to discover the killer/s before another person died?
Echoes on the Fens is the 15th in the DI Nikki Galena series by Joy Ellis and I loved it! I'm thoroughly enjoying this gritty, tension filled and chilling series, and although I've jumped from #10 to #15, there was no issue for me. The team of characters all work well, and it's great that they all have a supportive superior. I'll be reading #11 soon and recommend this one - in fact the whole series - to fans of the genre!

But murder didn’tTo Detective Kim Stone’s mind, the removal of the plaster cast from her leg meant she was fit for work again. It wasn’t that simple. But murder didn’t stop for anyone and Kim’s first day back at work – desk duties; not likely – found them heading to a nearby woodland where the body of a person linked to their previous case – the case where she was injured and one of their own was lost – had been brutally murdered.
Doctor Gordon Cordell's death was the beginning of a horror run of murders. The killer was obviously in a hurry to fulfil his fantasy; it was up to Kim and her team of Bryant, Stacey and the new detective to stop him in his tracks. But could they? The evidence was strong – so strong it seemed they were missing something.
Meanwhile Kim as well as her team, weren’t coping with the grief they had bottled inside. Was it hindering the investigation? Was Kim losing her team who were as close to her as to be family?
Fatal Promise is the 9th in the DI Kim Stone series and just as intense and fast paced as the previous eight have been! What a brilliant series! Twists; turns; red herrings littering the investigation – plus the deep emotion that rippled through the book – meant I flew through this one and can’t wait for #10! Highly recommended.
