Adrienne had suddenly had enough It was 1970 when Adrienne Chevalier left her husband Emile, the man who had controlled her their whole married life. Adrienne had suddenly had enough after he'd sent their sixteen year old twins to boarding school without consulting her, not allowing her to see them, poisoning their minds about their mother. Fleeing to Sainte-Marie-du-Lac, and eventually to L’Auberge de Léa where she'd previously known happier times, she made friends with the local women - Blanche, Louise, Clotilde and others. Adrienne was happy until suddenly one day Emile turned up, determined to take her back to his home...
In 1914, Suzanne Rossignol waved goodbye to her husband Jules as he went off to war, not knowing she was pregnant. Suzanne wrote in a journal which Adrienne discovered in her attic room at the auberge, and as she read the entries she was saddened for Suzanne's life and what it became after Jules returned home.
Lake of Widows by Aussie author Liza Perrat is another exceptional read which I thoroughly enjoyed. Set in the rural countryside of France, a location I can only dream about, the story focused on dark secrets, the ups and downs in some relationships, and the ways of some of the men in our lives. Adrienne's views of herself and the world around her, changed and very much for the better, until her courage stood out. Highly recommended.

Mystery author Tiggy Jones was working on her latest novel from a small cottage while her boathouse was renovated, accompanied by her faithful dog Raider, a spotted Dalmador, when Tiggy received an email from a famous forensic scientist, wanting to meet with her to share some of her intriguing life, which Tiggy could use in upcoming novels. Tiggy wasn't sure, but of course her curiosity was piqued and when she met with Dr Helena Loxton, she was startled by what occurred. And that was the beginning of days and weeks of stress, tension, investigating and unfortunately, murder. Tiggy was even taken into the police station and interrogated! What was happening and why was it happening?
Join Tiggy, Baxter, Rupert and Raider in the 4th of the Tiggy Jones Mystery series by Aussie author Virginia King - you won't regret it! A Trace of DNA (a catchy title) takes us once again to a small village outside London, where Tiggy's life has been since she inherited her grandmother's boat house. Tiggy's life is full of excitement, friends like Baxter (who is certainly growing into himself) and her special dog Raider. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep the pages turning; I'm looking forward to #5 very much! Recommended.
