This book carries so much magic within its pages, and every time you think it can't possibly get better it does. The world is the definition of whimsical. I don't think there was a moment where I wasn't enjoying myself. This book introduces you to so much wonder, you can't help but fall in love with the world and characters!
I love how the author had so many new things to add. You go into some books thinking you know everything there is to know about it. I thought I knew what the magic was like and what Nevermoor as a whole had to offer but I should know by now that books like these only get grander with every book. So many new and magical things were introduced here. So many more little facts and fun adventures and new characters! Morrigan is by far one of my favourite characters. She's resilient and clever and brave. There were so many challenges for her here that she had to overcome. Naturally not everything went her way but her growth was wonderful. Her new friends (although sometimes frustrating) came to be as close-knit as I'd hoped and I'm sure this will only grow stronger in the next book. I loved the broader introduction to the Wundrous society. We got to see Wunimals and learns more about Wundersmiths. Of course, I loved the found family aspect of this story the most! (which I'm always a sucker for).
I listened to the audiobook for this one and it made the experience even better. Gemma Whelan is an amazing narrator! She had a distinct voice and accent for everyone and I think those will definitely stick with me when I read the next book.
I feel like as an adult I tend to forget the amount of happiness that middle-grade books can offer. There are so many books out there that will make you feel all kinds of things but for me, happiness is always synonymous with middle-grade. There's something comforting in losing yourself in such magical and more often than not happy reads. I have many that I love but it's safe to say that this is a favourite. If you've been debating reading this book then consider this a reminder to pick it up now! You won't regret it....more

Now I've seen this one compared to Twilight, Vampire Academy, and The Vampire Diaries. I can't even explain what it is (or maybe I can) but it was agonising to read. I just didn't like it. I'm glad that so many people did but this was not for me. The fact that the main character was given a copy of Twilight is another thing all together....more
