Sure, there's a reason/trauma for why she turned out to be so detached and cold but her actions were stupid and downright vindictive. However, the second half felt reasonable and content. And I finally made peace with Penelope (our heroine) for being compassionate towards the end.

"This isn't fair, you know." she wrapped her arms over her bare breasts. "I haven't gotten to see you naked yet." "Women tend to fall in love with me when I take my clothes off."
How is that I keep falling in love with you even more?!...more

While we wait in agony to read the second book in I’ve had the pleasure of reading Reality Calls by Jenni Moen (a part of BLEED BLUE 69 anthology)
While we wait in agony to read the second book in Black Widow series, Mrs. Moen treats us with a beautiful and charming story of Luke and Sierra .
We met these characters in Black Widow, casually hooking up but they stole the show everytime they were on the scene and since then I couldn’t wait to read their story. Now that I read it, I WANT MORE!!!
Luke is a cop and Sierra, a real estate manager who helped Scott (Luke’s brother) settle in his new penthouse. Theirs was a mutual attraction, somehow of all the random hook-ups Luke had over time Sierra had a lasting impression; she was smart, funny and practical. They maintain a causal long-term relationship but never confronting their true feelings for each other. Things get serious when Sierra shows up on his doorstep with a moving van but neither of them was prepared for what happens over the thanksgiving dinner.
Short and cute! Loved this story. Jenni Moen does know how to make you go weak at the knees for men in blue uniform.

I mean torture after torture!
Confucius said, “Before embarking on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.” Now I know why. And now I know, that there is something worse than death. This.
Why don’t you just [image]
my god, the endless pain she endured...I think I died a thousand deaths alongside her. I close my eyes and all I can see is her hurt, sufferings and her horrific mental state...worst fucked up mess!!

and now my nightmare has a new name “Dornan Ross”, devil personified!!!
But I'm smarter than you, better than you, more DEPRAVED that you, little girl. You ventured into my playground and now I've got you in my web.
*shudders* and the woman who created his character Lili St Germain aka Sadist.... remind me to never piss you off like EVER!!!!
Now the reason I gave five stars for this monumental pain on paper isn’t because I loved it! hell no!!! I would rather bury this file under the pile of folders and make sure I won't see it for next 7 lifetimes...But for the brilliance at which the author wrote this story - it was more than I could handle.
I hope with all my heart that Dornan dies a most painful agonizing death!

Hands down, Sustained is my favourite Emma Chase book to date. Be it brooding alpha male, swoon worthy scenes, off the chart hotness and add to it bunch of adorable noisy bickering kids, BAM!! You get one helluva hilarious, heart-warming romantic story. So to get an additional novella of all your favourite characters is like a dream come true - THANK YOU EMMA CHASE!!!
‘Sidebarred’ takes place four years after ‘Sustained’ and not to be read as standalone. Gone are the days when Jake Becker lead a life of a hardcore bachelor, dedicating all his time solving cases and keeping criminals out of streets but now he is full time husband and a father figure to six lovely kids. In this cute li’l story we get to see Jake in all new role of parenting, it’s just swoon-worthy!
“There will never be anything sexier than watching you with your muscles and tattoos- braiding a seven-year-old’s hair.”
Only complain I’ve about this story is that it’s way too short to acquire all the great and fun stuff of this controlled chaos, I WANT MORE!! *pouts*. Loved the dynamic relationship between Jake and the McQuaid clan, it was sweet, charming, wickedly funny and entertaining to the fullest. Emma chase captured the essence of family and bonding pretty damn well, she makes you want to be part of it.
If you’ve read previous books this series, trust me you don’t want to miss this! It’s indeed a great conclusion to the Legal Briefs gang and those extended epilogue was just icing on the cake.
