The author tends to overuse some phrases (i.e. "The edge of a smile"), and I kept noticing it, but otherwise this is a really well-written, fun, magical story set in a unique world (worlds, really), and I intend to finish the series!...more

Sinda works hard, is kind, is smart, but has the shortcomings that any teenage girl might possess. She pushes a friend away, she refuses to seek help when things are dire, and she doesn't have faith in her own abilities.
What I'm saying is: Sinda is a well-rounded character. She's someone you want to root for, while at the same time she occasionally makes really dumb choices. She's human.
This is also a very fast read. If I'd had the time, I would have finished this in one sitting....more

I still love Cecy - that's a girl who gets stuff done.
While it is by no means terrible, the change in style and quality is enough that I have no desire to pick up the third one....more
